This is a YouTube video titled "Why I Love The Urgent Care Business" containing a monologue or talk from June 10, 2025, discussing the business model and advantages of owning urgent care centers, particularly in the St. Louis market. The speaker explains the underserved nature of urgent care, cash pay models, and operational strategies, sharing personal insights as an owner but not an operator of these centers.
Why do I love urgent cares? Urgent cares, it's a really underserved market. So we own four of these in the, in the St. Louis market and the one in downtown St. Louis. It's the only, absolute only game in town in the downtown market. And so you know there is, there was limited competition. There had 15 or 1800 Google reviews. It already had a lot of existing things ready to go. And it's kind of like open up your doors and they will come. I hate that as a business model I want to know where the gas pedal is at all times, like how do I get customers into the door. But in that type of a business it's just, they find you, you know. We also found that there was Nobody open after 8 o' clock in the St. Louis metro area. And so you know, every kid with an earache after 8 o' clock that needed something and you know there's a lot of after hours traffic there. People had to drive two and three hours, you know, to go and find and urgent care that would take care of their kids after eight. And so we just extended the hours there. And so I love that model cash pay urgent care. I think the healthcare system is a joke. I think that there's, it's a really, really underserved market to have the cash paying urgent care. And private equity loves this, hospitals love it. There's a bunch of private brands that love this space. And so I like it for a number of reasons. The necessity of it not having to deal with insurance depending on what you're doing. Right. This one was a cash pay only or these two brands were cash paying only. Number three, the exitability of the business. I think that there's room for primary care. I think urgent care and primary care go hand in hand together and I think that there's some really cool and interesting things that you can do to bolster profits in those businesses. I think if you find the right doctor you can really run them. Semi absentee. As the owner of the cap table there, not the operator. Obviously I've never been to any of the ones that we have in St. Louis and we've owned, owned them for almost 18 months now. So I like, I like that space.
