Question, it's an answer.
It's an answer.
That was good.
Hey, Evans. Hey, Laurie. How was your day?
My day was so good. How was your day?
It was amazing. Like, it was a bit of a blur. Cause I really didn't do much and I'm just like in that space of like, you know, when you have one thing to do and it feels like a lot. Like, I had to record a quickie before this and I was like, whoa, that feels heavy.
Right?
This event.
Well, yeah. What were you up to this past weekend?
I was throwing a circus party.
You know what?
The Bliss Project.
I was there and I loved it.
It was amazing. It was amazing. I don't even know what to say because I haven't actually. Do you know what I'm saying?
I do.
People are like, tell me, how do you feel? Like, how are you feeling? I'm like, I'm like just so in awe that we get to do this.
Me too. It was. There are so many amazing women there. Every single one of them.
Every single one of them was amazing. Like, it's quite crazy. It's. I. I saw a post today, you know. Cause there's like a million posts that I'm reading right now that I'm loving just to see, like, what the different takeaways were. And there was a post from our friend Amber Connolly. Amber Connolly. And I loved it because she said, you know what? Like, her big takeaway was that we are all so much more alike than we are different. Like, all of us women are so much more alike than we are different.
Ain't that the truth?
And it could not be. Like, we are so the Same. We have the same fears. We have massive visions. We know what we're supposed to be doing. And there's a lot of the same reasons why we're not doing them. And a lot of it is just fear of each other.
Exactly.
That was the biggest thing, is, like, they're all just afraid of what each other will think. And it's not necessarily even, like, the men or their families. Judgment against, like, just people they don't even know.
I know. Isn't that crazy?
We all do that.
A couple men were at the hotel, and they're like, what is this event? Do you guys talk about men a lot? I'm like, we're too busy focusing on other things.
Talk about men, huh? No, we don't actually.
Should we be. I don't know, sir.
It kind of just. If we just talk about ourselves and what we're supposed. Like, what we should. I hate the should, but we should. But what we really should be following in our vision. Like, the men just kind of. They fit into the vision.
They fit in.
And if.
I think if you're working on yourself, you're only going to be that much better of a partner for your loved one.
Oh, my God. Ain't that the truth? Ain't that the truth when you don't like yourself. How much do you like Adam?
I don't.
But I love.
I do.
I'm always like, chris will be like, are you okay today? I'm like, I'm so sorry. I'm just feeling like I don't like me, so it's hard to like.
It's so true.
I'm like, but I love you.
I just.
I can't see outside of my, like, horrible pain bubble right now. That's made up by me.
Exactly. You just. Isn't it fun how you can. Not fun, but funny. I can make terrible things up about what you're doing. Get in a funk.
And you know what? Sometimes you think your house is the safest place, but you've actually created your own little torment hell pit. Yeah.
And you gotta get out of there.
You're like, welcome. Welcome to my torment hell bit. And, like, the only thing you're doing is, like, I don't know, just making it worse looking on Instagram and how maybe you could decorate your tormenting hell pit and spend more money that you don't have.
Yep.
It's so weird.
It's weird. It's just spiral, spiral down.
Spiral on down.
We're gonna spiral up.
Do you have any amazing moments this weekend?
There were so Many. I mean, your volunteers this year, every.
Year, off the chain. Off the chain.
It's just. I love. I think it's so special, the energy they bring and how much they. They work their tails off.
They work.
They work.
That's why we write. We write that email that we write and we send them every year because it's like, okay, we love that you're applying to volunteer, but we just really want to let you know that you will be carrying heavy things, working really hard and holding space, and you will be exhausted and probably not sleeping much.
Totally.
Like, we can't. There's no way we could do without time.
Oh, they're. Oh, yeah.
They're just little angels.
They're. They're serious angels. They're just the most incredible people with so many. They're just.
And I'm obsessed with them.
Me too.
Pretty much all of them are people I knew or. They're my friends. They're so cool. So I want.
I want to be their friends.
We can be. Yeah.
I'm going to. I have their contact information.
Oh, my God. Just start being like. Just start stalking. Text them. Just text them out of the blue.
And be like, hi. What are you doing?
Like, I saw that you were free on Instagram. Can we go to coffee? I'm outside of your work. I'm at your house, and I'm. Right. I'm out in the car, and I have a rain jacket. You have no excuses. I can see you inside. Come.
I have a rain jacket for inclement weather, so there's no excuse. Brenda. Brenda didn't volunteer, but she could if she existed.
Oh, that just takes me back to Healthy Brenda.
Who's Healthy Brenda?
It was Monique Bryan's on her talk, on her tribe talk. When she was talking about. She was like, I am healthy Brenda from 902. Wow. Oh, my God. I've been saying healthy Brenda, like, ever. She was hilarious, you guys. Okay, okay. We're not gonna go on inside jokes. We are gonna stay on outside jokes for all of you. So do you have any outside jokes?
Yes. Everyone should come to Bliss Project. Cause it's a lot of fun, and it felt like summer camp.
It is summer camp, but elevated. Elevated summer camp. E, S, C. Hashtag ESC Check it out.
I'm so excited.
So, Red, can we just say that Evan's had a different experience at Bliss this year? Because a lot of people came up to her and said, are you on the podcast? And she was like, shit, where do I. I'm so freaked out by this Right now, I'm very shy. She is so not like you are, but you're not.
Yeah, that's true. You just.
You're, like, the most outgoing shy person I know. That's kind of like me when.
Yeah.
When people are like, oh, my God, you're so extroverted. And I'm like, no. Like, when I was off stage, I was like, oh, my God. How do I feel? Like I'm just carrying. I'm just learning how to carry each moment in conversation. I think you just learn how to do it. Like, we're just kind of okay with laughing a lot.
Everyone's. We're all in it together.
Yeah, exactly.
And I have hives now.
Okay, great.
What's your.
What's your. It's like. It's like another Wednesday. Evans.
It is.
It's Hive Wednesday.
It's Hive Wednesday. Everyone join in.
Hive Wednesday. Get your honey. Get your hives here. Get your hives, Honey. Hives. Okay, Honeybee. Do you have. I called you honeybee? Felt so creepy. I liked it. All right. Okay.
H.B.
Do you.
What's your quote?
My quote is from Oprah.
Duh, duh.
And she says, if you look at what you have in life, you'll always have more. If you look at what you don't have in life, you'll never have enough.
She's so good.
She's so good.
Do you think she just sits and writes in hieroglyphics on her wall and, like, writes quotes and writes on scripts and writes with feather pens?
I do, actually.
I just. I see that for her.
I see it, too. And everything she says is wonderful, and I love that.
I want a book of quotes of Oprah's most terrible things. Like, most stupid things Oprah's ever said. Because even that would be. I would cherish it.
They're probably still really good.
They're. They're probably still so good. I would put gemstones on the COVID of it.
Oh, you would hot glue them on there.
Do you remember the Bedazzler?
Yes. Don't you still have some bedazzles here?
Yes, of course you do. I used to bedazzle things because there was a point in time where you couldn't just have a little glitter. The whole thing had to be glitter. Yeah. You know, I thought about glittering a microphone for Bliss.
You should have.
There was a little part of me that just said, that's too much. Maybe next year.
Maybe in 2020.
You know, the year was 2020. Bliss Project had a bedazzled microphone that's crazy.
That's awesome.
Like, we're gonna take a hoverboard there next year. Isn't that the weirdest?
I'm going to hoverboard there with you guys.
You heard it all here. Evan said that she was coming next year and volunteering. Yes, please.
I am. I already asked you.
I know. We already have it. I wrote it with a feather pen and gold ink.
Oh yeah, yeah.
So you're screwed. So many ideas though, because I think Evan should have a little piece up there, don't you guys? Of questionably awesome.
No. I can have a little booth made out of a cardboard box.
Oh my God. A kissing booth. I'm dying.
I am one giant red hive right now.
My goal in life is to take to see what I feel like a paint store with the samples and I'm like, let's see if we can crank it up to the brightest beat on here. You're getting a little purple. I like it. It's like a sunset. I feel like I because I missed the sunset tonight. So we not anymore. You showed up Peach.
What's your quote? Lori.

Okay, my quote is, you know what? Do you want me to read the four main quotes from the bp?
I do.
From bp, not the gas station. Tbp. Do you think BP has quotes? The gas station?
Yeah.
Like if you want a lot of gas, you got come here to the station. Get you.
I do love gas station coffee from those cappuccino machines. Oh, no, those are bad and good.
They are bad and good. And when I lived up north, I thought that like that was my first intro. When I say up north, up, that's upper Michigan. That's what we used to call it. That was my first intro to cappuccino. So I thought that was it. So when I went to an actual cappuccino place, I was like, what the hell? Your cappuccino is broken. I was like, you are disgusting. You gotta go down to that BP and try out their cappuccino. You gotta take your baristas down there. And teach them down there.
It's true.
One push button mean, oh, okay. All right, Mike. Or not. These aren't my quotes. These are Condi's quotes. Technically, me and Gandhi were very alike. Okay. If you want to. If you want to heal the world, heal your front doorstep, Gandhi.
Oh, okay, here's another one.
Okay, so these were some of the main takeaways that a lot of people had.
There were so many good ones, and.
There were so many good ones. So this was from Patrice Washington. Reject advice that is not in alignment with your assignment.
I loved that.
I loved that too, because we get so much advice, and if it doesn't feel right and you're like, oh, yeah, he's saying, maybe I shouldn't. Or she's saying, this is stupid, or whatever. You're like, is it feel in alignment? Like, does it go with your vision? Like, when I first. I mean, honestly, like, when I first told people, like, oh, I think I want to sing for the opening of Bliss. And they're like, huh?
Yeah.
And I'm like, you know what? That was so f you. Yeah. Forgive you. Forgive you, Forgive you. And not seeing my crazy vision.
That was incredible.
I loved that. You know, I saw my mom a photo of it. Did you really? What did your mom say?
She said, good for her. 20,000 explanations.
Xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo but she should have worn a longer shirt.
No, Just kidding.
That. Tell your mom thank you so much.
I will. She was so proud.
Oh, my God. That's the sweetest. Like, maybe she should be a part of it next year.
Yeah, she'll get in a little crop top.
Oh, my. Do you think we could get your mom in a crop top?
Heck, no. She would. No way, Jose.
What if it was a shirt with. What if it was a top with crops on it with actual crops?
Then she would be into that.
Yeah. And we'd be like, you're in a crop top.
Sorry, I didn't mean to.
Clap, clap. Clap back.
Clap back.
Clap it back. Okay, the next one is. Sometimes you can use the right gift in the wrong ministry again. Patrice Washington.
Patrice.
What? Yes, you can. And I've done that. I spent a lot of last year using the right gifts in the wrong place and questioning myself and being like, I suck ass. And you don't. Yeah. No, I don't. I definitely don't suck ass.
No, you do not.
All right.
So show's over.
Moving on to. To Lindsay Sikornik. And that is hurt people, hurt people. But healed people heal people. That's Beautiful. So heal yourself so you can heal everybody else. Yes. And stop hurting the world. Gracias.
Gracias.
Okay. And then also, without the darkness, how would we be able to see our light shine so bright? I don't know who said that one, so I'm taking it.
Oh, yeah, that was you.
And it just seems okay. Like, it's just okay. Yeah. So. Just kidding. To anyone else who said that, I.
Can'T remember, but I know it was amazing.
Yeah. I don't know.
I don't know, but it's.
It's all a blur. It was. What's. I don't know. Feels like a dream. It feels a rap song. It was all a dream.
It was all a dream. Maybe that could segue to.
Have you ever caught yourself in a laugh that you were like, oh, my God, what was that? Like, you'll. We were like, at a party, and you're like, yes. And you're in a cocktail dress with champagne and you're like.
Or just say something stupid. And you're like, bye.
It's my life. That is the story of my life. And you know when you're in the middle of it and you can feel it going south.
Yes.
Somehow you're trying to complete it, but it just goes another level south. And you're like. And people do the pity laughing. They're like, yeah. And you just watch them get like. Like their whole bodies curl inward.
And you want to die. But you have to keep staying at the party because Brenda was there and. Yeah, she invited you.
You can't leave.
Can't leave. Or Brenda will be mad.
Brenda's gonna be mad. That's all there is.
That's all there is is Brenda. Anyway.
Anyway, what are we moving?
What would you like to do?
Let's just. Do we have a review?
Yeah.
It's really good. Do you know what? I just got a glimpse of being at that party with you. Yep.
Hi. You better. You wish you didn't invite me. Okay. This is from Mel. Underscored Issa. She wrote this past week's question. The awesome episode 335 had me literally in all caps laughing out loud from banter. Between Lori and Evans, I'm in the mix of all the laughter and shenanigans. They always somehow find ways to drop some serious truth bombs and knowledge for their listeners. I always get excited when I see new episodes have been released, and it goes the top of my listening list.
Oh, my God.
Thank you, Lori, for bringing laughter and enlightenment together in the form of an enjoyable and entertaining podcast. P.S. congratulations to Evans on her engagement.
Oh, my God, you're so engaged, right?
I'm still engaged.
You know what? I think you're gonna stay engaged till you be. Be married.
I'm gonna be married soon.
It's so weird. Have you caught. Have you been. Oh, my God. First of all, acknowledging this woman, awesome. Thank you. Melissa, we're gonna send you something awesome. Awesome might be questionably awesome, but you'll get to it. It's gonna be awesome. But someone might think it's awesome.
Someone will think it's really awesome, Melissa.
Hopefully. You all right? Back to the ring? Yes. So are you used to calling him your fiance yet?
No, I keep calling him my boyfriend.
Oh.
And I got corrected today.
What if you keep calling him your boyfriend till you're like, 80? That'd be so cute.
Oh, that would be so cute.
Just be like, here's what I decided. I'm not ever gonna call you fiance or husband. And it's not only cute, but it also keeps my options open.
Yeah, I'm just trying to be open here.
You know what? It's. It's la. Like, I can't commit to a title. Like, I will marry you, but I will not tell people that you're my husband.
No, I will not.
Because if I meet Bob, who knows what'll happen? Yeah, he might be a close friend, or he might build my house.
Bob the builder. I don't know. We don't know what he'll do. I think we're a little tired.
This is called late night recording. I will say, I think that we need to arrange morning recordings.
I do. I agree. I think we're better in the morning. Sorry, everybody.
Sorry, everyone. You're getting.
Turn this off.
I feel like they're getting more, like seconds or sevens. Yeah.
Like, we can do morning recordings.
Might as well turn this off.
Might as well end it now.
We're just going to end this now. Just kidding. We've got questions.
Yeah, here's a really good one from Jessica Brianne. She says, what are your two biggest takeaways from Bliss?
I mean, to be honest, they're not even, like, themes of the event. It's just we're all so freaking alike and we're all craving, letting out our inner truth, our inner authenticity. And if we just followed that and we let that come out, we would all be happy. And if we all let it be okay for other people to not line up with our vision or line up with our beliefs or need to, like, connect with our energy, like, it's okay if someone doesn't connect with your energy, it means move on. Move on. Like, if we could all just let go of what doesn't work for us and let it be okay without building a story and needing to carry them on our backs, like, life would be really freaking awesome.
That's great. Takeaways.
Those are my takeaways.
I love that.
What are yours?
Mine are that everyone's good. Like, we're all just. There's just so many beautiful people that show up and we all have. There's. Even when you feel like you're your worst, you got good in there.
You do real good. Especially if you just ate some Jenny's ice cream.
Yes. If you ate Jenny's ice cream, you're especially good.
Yeah, you're filled with good.
Filled with good.
So when you feel bad, just consume.
Just eat more.
Consumption.
It's true, though.
Consumption, consumption. More ice cream.
More ice cream.
You know, when you eat, you're actually like a human ice cream. Stuffed human.
That is how I feel.
So to. Like a wild lion. You just look like a dessert. Yeah.
Yeah.
We definitely do need to record in the mornings.
I just banged my nose on the microphone, laughing.
Ow.
Oh. Still got it.
Yeah.
The tip of my nose, that is.
It's still there.
Okay, what's the next cue?
The next cue is from Janelle and Leah. Are you going to write another book? Question mark.
Janelle and Leah. I didn't think I wanted to for a while. No, I wanted to, but I didn't want to right away.
Yeah.
So weird. Right after Bliss, I was like, oh, I think I have my book. You do? Do you know what I think it's gonna be?
Don't tell us what it is.
Well, I can say what it is.
It's just a blurb. Okay.
But I don't know if that's this is it at all. But I'm just going to say it and we'll see if we get some reviews back. If they're like hills, yes. And if they're like hills. No. I'll be like, well, if I want to do it, I'm doing it anyway.
Right. Because it's what you want to do.
Yeah.
What is it about?
So you know how everyone wrote a permission slip? Yes. So I think I want to write a book that's either called, like, Something around Permission, not saying what it's called yet. I can't do that.
Don't tell us the time.
But like, kind of answering, like, going through and taking those permission slips on what they Wanted. And like talking about how to give yourself permission around it.
Yes.
Wouldn't that be cool? I love that because they gave me all the answers to the test, so now I can just write all of the. Right. They were just like, this is what I want. This is what I want. This is what I want out of life. And now I can be like, I'll write a story about it. Let me teach. Let me talk about what I've done in my life. Or let me just tell you some lie on how it could maybe help. I don't know.
We're all just kidding.
I'm not gonna make up a story. No, I will absolutely tell you a story, though. I have so many stories.
You have a lot of good stories.
I have some good stories because I haven't even told people that I peed the bed Till I was 14 years old.
That's not. I wasn't laughing at that.
I can't wait to laugh at it. There's a lot of funny stories within this. No. That.
You're not alone in that.
No. I know. You know what's so funny?
Thank you for sharing that.
You're welcome. And I've got some good stories, though, around wearing battery packed pajamas.
You told me. Which breaks my heart.
It. I'm gonna make it funny.
But it is funny now.
It's funny now.
Yeah.
But it's gonna be a great story that's gonna be all about permission to just pee anywhere.
Pee anywhere you want. Yeah.
It's gonna be like permission.
Men pee everywhere, everyone.
They mark all territory. I don't know. Anyway, I don't even know where that came from, but. From your heart or from my. From 9:00pm yeah, it's from 9:00pm for sure.
Too many people finish their workday feeling frustrated, drained, and unfulfilled. I know that. I have experienced that myself. And the good news is it doesn't have to be this way. And you don't need a new job to fix it. All right, what's the. Did we get another question?
The other question is from ousecallswithnicole. Is work life balance truly achievable? How do you make that happen?
You know, Evans, I want you to go first on that one.
I honestly don't know if work balance is truly achievable. I feel like it's give and take. Everything is a little give and take, you know. And I mean I was actually thinking about this today like I want to do because I haven't been going to my yoga every day like I love to and I'm like, oh, I need to do this, I need to do that, this. It's like you can't do everything every day.
Got to know, just chill out yeah. You cannot do everything every day. You literally. You kind of get your. You. You get your staples as much as you possibly can. Yep. So for you, it's like walking and yoga, and you try to do those things, but when life gets busy, something's got to give.
Right.
Because you only have so much willpower now. Can you work to get better?
Yes.
But something has to give in the process of getting better. And even then, it's like, I think about this all the time. Like, when I was in book tour mode. Yeah. I was somewhat maintaining, like, my fitness level and stuff and, like, health level, but it was definitely going downhill. Like. And when I say downhill, it was still good. Yeah. But it was nothing like what it.
Was like because you were traveling all the time.
Totally. And I was like, guess what? I don't get to wear all of those blue jeans.
Nope.
Right now. Okay. But guess what I do get to wear stretch pants, really pretty dresses and beautiful dresses, and nobody knows or gives a flying fig. Nasty. All right.
A Fig Newton.
A fig Newton. They don't. Do you eat those?
I used to.
So did I.
What was the thing?
They were like, it's not a cookie, It's a.
What was it?
A fig Newton.
It's a fig Newton.
I don't remember that.
It's like a little cake.
A little thing.
A little bit of fig in the middle.
The middle.
I was trying to get Chris to do an accent, like, the right way the other day.
Yeah.
And we were walking in. In the hotel, and he was like, just stop it.
Stop.
Stop. Lori. I was like, but say it. Try it. And I was trying to get him do what? We were just doing like that. Like, something like that. He just looked at me and he was like, stop. Normally he's all game.
Yeah. Maybe he was just hungry.
I was like, I don't know. Like, we were just habitually full. The last three days, we have eaten everything. You know, when you're tired.
Yes.
It's been so bad. Yeah. But so good at the same time. But I'm just. Yesterday at the end of the night, I had eaten everything. And do you know what I did?
What?
So my friend who does my hair, Amy Gimble, made this loaf of bread, and I still had it in the fridge, and I just went. And I broke off, like, half of the loaf in my hand like a peasant boy. Like, I broke the loaf and I put it in my place and I put it in the microwave. Yep. I waved it.
That's right.
She heard bread in microwave. She was like, warm Bread. Wait, that's not her voice at all. Warm bread. That's better.
That's her voice.
Whoa. That was my stomach's voice. Warm bread. Gremlin hands. Okay, so, yes, I sat down on the couch and Chris was like, what do you have in your hand? I was like, a chunk of bread, as usual. Shut up.
Yeah. Did you have butter?
No.
Oil?
Nothing? It was just chunks of bread in my hand. Sounds delicious. I told you, like, castle times.
Castle times. Welcome. Come on down to castle time.
I was like, those were good times. Those were good times. It was my eyes and pretended I was in castle times. Lisa, give me a hunk of bread, please. Quite hungry. And it was good, except I was quite full. And then I just stopped myself. I was like, we need to go to bed. I have hunks of bread in my hand. It's time. Because I was over tired, so I was just. I took. I write about it in my book when I'm overtired. I just, like, go for crackers or bread or just, like, shove it in my face. I just wear a shirt that says, shove it in my face.
And that's what happens. It is so. You know what? It's okay.
Did we answer all the cues?
Yeah, that was all the cues.
Evans, do you have any? Any.
This is gonna be good.
Do you have any, like, did you have any epiphanies at work this week?
This week?
Oh, well, I used the bathroom and it was.
And all epiphanies start there.
I couldn't get the toilet to flush. Oh, no. It only went number one.
Oh, thank God.
And then I was like, excuse me, has anyone ever had any troubles with the toilet flushing? And they were like, yeah, I was like, can you help me?
It's a normal thing.
Yeah, they said, that's normal. And I got really uncomfortable.
How are you ever gonna poop there, Lori?
That was my exact thought. You cannot poop at this place. There's no way.
Well, now you're gonna have to sneak in there so no one sees you. So if it does happen, there's already a pooper.
I know. That comes around 3:00pm all day.
Oh, no.
That's their regular time.
Isn't that an interesting time for a pooper?
It really is. You know what? Sometimes I'll get a second one if I have, like, some or something. So we technically human. Healthy human functioning is twice a day. So maybe that's their second.
I mean, good for them.
Yeah.
And now, no judgment. You gotta go when you got.
You know what? What if you change the culture. What if you change the company culture to high fiving around a second ball movement and you're like, we are not stuck in this company. We are fluid and moving. And you do, like. Yes. Like, you ring bells and stuff. Do you know, like a boiler room. Yeah.
When I went to summer camp, we were really nervous the first week about pooping away from home.
Yeah.
And our counselor made us a chart with our names on, and she was like, every time you go, you get a star on there. And we got to put a star by our name. And whoever had the most got a candy bar at the end.
You're kidding me.
It all made us. We were like, okay, now we can go in there. Like, this is cool.
Okay. That's the coolest thing I've ever heard. And I definitely want to adopt that. If I ever get a large corporate building. Building. Like, we're. We do things different. We do things different here.
Yeah.
What people are ashamed of, I don't know. It should be like a high five, right? So guess what? You get to start a poop chart. A poop chart. Just be like. And everyone will be so excited. And when the toilet clogs, be like, yeah, you did it. We did this. You did that.
Yeah. It's not.
Look at yourself in the mirror. Be so proud to know you did that.
I'm glad. That was my epiphany for you.
That. You know what? I really like that. Because that doesn't just apply to poop. It applies to everything. Like, there are a lot of things that you're ashamed of right now that you should actually be celebrating.
Yeah. It's your body doing its thing.
Yeah. Functioning right along. All right, guys, on that note, before it becomes a question, we're going to keep this in the awesome zone. We're gonna keep this as an answer. We're so grateful for you. And hopefully Evans will be engaged still next week.
We'll see.
