59: How to HEAL Your BODY and Mind with Simple Daily Choices using The Earth Diet with Liana Werner-Gray
1 Sept 2016 · 42 min
Podcast episode (recorded Sep 1, 2016) on Lori Harder’s Earn Your Happy featuring Liana Werner-Gray (author of The Earth Diet). Liana recounts a five-year junk-food addiction, a medical wake-up call (stage-one lymphatic tumor, chronic fatigue, Epstein–Barr/glandular fever, blood work 'on the verge of leukemia'), and her 365-day commitment to eating only foods 'directly from nature' (The Earth Diet). She describes how switching to whole, minimally processed foods and nourishing practices (lemon water, daily juices, plant-forward recipes that recreate comfort foods) healed her, removed cravings/guilt, and improved energy, mood and purpose. Episode also promotes Liana’s Earth Diet book, Hay House radio show (Wednesdays 6pm EST), Vitacost code 'Earthdiet', and contains sponsor ad segments.

Her name is Eliana Werner Gray. She is the best selling author for the Earth Diet published by Hay House and it was number one on Amazon in nine different categories. She's an advocate for natural healing using a wholesome diet and lifestyle. So in 2009, Liana started an online blog in an attempt to break her five year addiction to junk food binge eating. She declared that for 365 days she would eat only foods directly from nature and called it the Earth Diet. In three months, Liana healed herself of many health conditions, including a stage one golf ball sized tumor in her lymphatic system, chronic fatigue, glandular fever, virus and digestive issues. So Liana's found a way to have all of her favorite foods, but in a more natural way that nourishes the body as well as hits the pleasure zones. So Liana has traveled to 17 countries and she also has a weekly radio show every Wednesday at 6pm Eastern on hayhouseradio.com so you guys definitely tune into that and listen into our conversation all about food and the healing elements that it has to your body and mindset. So let's get started. Leanna, thank you so much for being on the podcast. I'm so excited to have you on.
I'm so excited to be here.
Well, I met Liana in New York. I had to fly all the way to New York to meet your amazing self. And I met you at Natalie Jill's book launch party, which was incredible because seriously, so many amazing women. I was like, could I have this in my life all the time, please? So I loved it. I got to be on your show on Hay House Radio and that was incredible. So now I get to have you on mine and ask you all the questions I want and get to know you even better. So thank you.
Yay. Thank you for having me.
All right. So, you know, I look at you now and I'm like, there's this beautiful, amazing, talented, smart woman who has a cookbook, who has a show, who has so many things going for her, who's done so much in her life. But I would love to know about your journey on how you got to where you're at right now.
Yeah, so it's completely different, my life now compared to what it used to be. So my life took a complete 180, complete transformation. Thank goodness. So I was born and raised in Australia, and I was actually raised with the indigenous people in Outback Australia. So half of my school were Aboriginal and the other half were white. And so I had this very natural upbringing in the outback and in nature. And then when I was 18 years old, I decided to move to Brisbane City, and I opted for a very convent lifestyle. And I was pursuing a career in the arts, so entertainment and film, television production, like behind the scenes, in front of the scenes, just all of it. I just loved being like around a TV set or theater, film. And that was like, I thought, you know, that's this is my dream. I really want to do it. So I moved to the city and I got like a high rise apartment and I just really indulged in the convenient lifestyle. And I found myself attracted to junk foods, like in bright colors, like chocolates and lollies, we call them, but it's called candy here in the States. And so I started to eat junk food because I never really had it a lot when I was a kid. And then I loved the sugar high it gave me. It was like a drug. And I thought, wow, I'm so much more creative. It's so much more fun when I'm really high on sugar. And so then after a little while, I would crash from that sugar. And I didn't like that feeling of just feeling really bad and feeling low and tired. So I try and avoid that feeling. And so I would just go out and buy more junk food to kind of keep me up on this high all the time. And so after a few months of doing that, I was like, okay, my body is getting bloated, I'm having skin issues, I'm gaining weight. This is not a good feeling. I should probably stop. And then that's when I realized I had an addiction to junk food. And now looking back at my life, addiction runs in my family, so it's a cycle I've had to break. So whether it's drugs, alcohol, for me, it was junk food. And so I told myself, okay, I'll quit on Monday, I'll start again fresh and I'll never eat junk foods ever again starting Monday. So this was like a Thursday. And so for the rest of the week I said, okay, I'm just going to go out and eat as much junk food as I want. So I went out and I just had a huge binge and I ate so much junk food until I just felt really sick and tired and just had to sleep to process it all off. And then comes Monday and I wake up craving chocolate. And those thoughts were just so strong. These impulses of like, you need chocolate or who are you to not have sugar in your life ever again? You have to have sugar. Everyone has sugar. And so I didn't even try and battle that impulse. It was just so strong. So I just went out and bought junk food again and said, okay, I'll start again tomorrow. Tomorrow I'll be healthy. And this was a cycle that continued every single day for five years. And so I felt completely controlled by food and cravings and impulses and it was just really getting in the way of me living my dream. So I mean, that's how it was before. It was completely terrible and I felt like I was living in a nightmare every single day. And there was just something just holding me down from me going after the life I really wanted to have.
Thank you so much for sharing that. I can so relate to you. I have been there. It feels like a prison. It feels like you are not in.
Control.
And you really start to think that you're not. And how did you start to break the cycle? Because like you said, we just, we keep doing the same things over and over and over again. So what was the point for you that you had enough?
Well, so I had a wake up call. So eventually I do believe our bodies give way or something happens in our life where we have this major wake up call. I mean, some people are lucky enough to prevent it before it gets to that point. But at the five year mark, I was just out one day and I just was feeling really tired and just worn down because obviously that's what junk foods do to our body. And so something just popped in my neck and I felt it and it literally just popped. And I thought ouch. And I thought it was a swollen gland and so I just kind of ignored it for the next couple weeks. But the lump in my neck just got bigger and bigger and harder and harder. And so I went to a natural doctor and she's like, okay, I think you need to go to the hospital because this does not look good. And so I went to the hospital and they did a biopsy. And I just remember sitting there at the hospital, like, what have I done to myself? Like, oh, no, surely I don't have to live like this for the rest of my life. But I really thought that for the rest of my life I would be addicted to junk foods and not living my dream life and just have this weight, this burden on me. Like I just accepted that that was my life, which is quite depressing. And so whoever's listening right now and if you're like really stuck in something, then you can know that it can be completely different because it is for me. And so that completely blows my mind because I really, really thought I would just be so suffering for the rest of my life. So when I was in hospital and the results come back and I was diagnosed with stage one tumor the size of a golf ball in my lymphatic system, which is the body sewage system. And then I had chronic fatigue and Epsom Barr virus, so glandular fever. And my blood work showed I was on the verge of leukemia. So that was my point where I was like, okay, I've really damaged myself. I've poisoned my body and I. I've done it to myself. And that's when I declared, when I was in hospital, I was like, I've really had enough. I've had enough of suffering every day. And I said, universe, I don't know how I'm going to get out of this. I don't know. But somehow I'm going to break this addiction. I'm not going to crave junk foods. I'm not going to eat junk foods. Surely there's another health that's possible for me out there. That was the first step and just kind of declaring that to myself and then just asking that greater intelligence, you know, source energy for help, like, I'm really gonna need some guidance from you. So that was my first step.
So beautiful. And just especially for people, like you said, who are feeling like maybe they're never going to get that answer. There's so much that happens along the way. And like you said, to think that you're in it alone is such a. In a lonely place. So to ask, to pray, those are huge, huge important things. Sometimes just getting it out in the begin of what you're feeling and what you're thinking and please help me, I don't know if I can do this alone. That's just the beginning and a lot of times steps will be revealed along the way. In this quote, I opened up your book. She has her Beautiful Earth Diet cookbook which we're going to talk about later. Well, it's actually a complete guide to living to living healthy. I'm obsessed with smacked me right in the face. It says I want to feel my life while I'm in it. And it's a Meryl Streep course quote. But this basically just summarizes everything. I want to feel my life while I'm in it. And I think so much of the food that we're eating and obviously your whole theory on how we eat is we're not really present because of the food that we're eating and it has such an effect of taking us out of our body and out of our life.

So what started to make you say, oh my God, I didn't realize how connected all of this was because I know that you said you weren't feeling connected to your purpose.
Yeah, I kept thinking, kept thinking, tomorrow my life will start. Okay, Monday my life will start. It'll start next week. Next week. And it just never came until I had that major suffering turning point wake up call. So, yeah, and now, since I am so healthy and have healed and transformed my health and my relationship to food and that part of my mind, I realized that health is vital, like such an important part in our lives and that it really affects every area of our life. Like the healthier we are in our body and that we nourish our body, then the better all of our relationships are. And our career is better. Like everything just gets better when we have this foundation of health.
Why is that? Why do things start getting better?
We start to feel better for once. So there's a huge difference in how I feel every day now to how I felt when I was stuck in the vicious cycle of eating junk foods and just being controlled by it. I felt like my energy levels were like a yo yo, up and down, up and down, up and down. And then my weight would Fluctuate. And then I would try and starve myself to balance out all the calories I was eating from junk foods. Now I have complete freedom around that. So I don't have those thoughts that are going on in my mind for hours and hours and hours. Every single day, those thoughts have gone. So I'm completely free of that. And this heavy weight that I used to carry in my body, that's also completely gone. So now I'm able to focus on other things and think about other things. So now I'm able to put a lot more time and energy into my career, into my books. And so, yeah, basically, I'm not like, obsessing about what am I going to be eating later, or, oh, I hope I don't get a craving today. What happens if I get a craving? It's just complete freedom. It's like, imagine like a dream health or a dream body. And then having that come true, it's like. It's literally like a dream come true.
I love that. I used to. I'm just. I feel like I'm so in your story because I used to live in the extreme. So it was either on the extreme end of I'm doing just greens and lean proteins, and that's it. Because I know my body responds to that. It worked for me once. It better be, you know, where it has to work for me again. And then, because I'm not getting everything that I. Your body needs to feel good, to have, you know, to be in a good mood. Maybe it's the different carbohydrates that your body needs for energy. It was like, I constantly felt like, you know, I explained it to people as I have this gray cloud over me. It's like, no matter what, I can't really tap in to my happiness. So it was like one extreme to the other. And then you go and, you know, you binge and you eat crap, and it's like, well, that's taking you down this whole other road. And again, those addictive foods, like, they get in your system and they're tough to get out. So what are some things that you do? Let's say you're traveling or you go somewhere. And of course, you know, we're all not perfect and things still happen. What are some ways that you kind of get yourself back into that place of knowing what your body really needs?
Yeah, so I really do listen to my body every single day. And sometimes I'm craving so much food, whether it's. Whether it's because I'm working out More because of my cycles happening or different weather. And then sometimes I'm not craving food. So I really do listen to my body and what it needs. And I basically live with the principle of I'll eat whatever my body is craving, but in a really natural way that's going to nourish my body with proper nutrition rather than poison my body. So whether it's ice cream, like I'll have a cashew or an almond milk ice cream, or if it's French fries, I'll make my own using organic potatoes and I'll cook it in coconut oil. Or if it's cheesecake, I'll use whipped cashews. So, like all the recipes in my book, the Earth Diet are all of our favorite foods, but just in a really clean, nourishing way. And definitely junk foods. It puts us into this dark, dark pit. And that's why for me and anyone who has an addictive personality, when we just allow ourselves to have a little bit like, oh, just have a little bit of this candy that has corn syrup and aspartame and all these other really crazy chemicals that just, just put off our hormones and throw our chemical imbalance off in our body, if we allow ourselves to have a little bit of that, it usually triggers all these other thoughts and emotions in our body of more sabotage and destruction. And we just go out and we eat more and we have gluten. The Earth Diet gave me access to not going down that path ever again. Wherever I am, it's an awareness in our mind. It's like having a mental shift. Wherever I am, wherever I'm traveling, I always just carry that awareness. And so I'll always find the most natural option wherever I am. And one really simple, easy thing to do. And some days I have to work like 12 hours a day because I have book deadlines or it's really busy. And so those days are harder to prepare food and stuff like that. But the really simple tips just to nourish our body so quickly and are very cost effective is lemon water. And I talk about this a lot because lemon water, it's a raw element. Just getting that lemon, this beautiful bright yellow lemon, and then cut that in half and straight away we can smell the zest. And it's just such a beautiful, clean, pure and crisp smell. And then just squeeze half a lemon into a cup of water and that's really high in vitamin C. So it boosts our immune system and it alkalizes our body. So it's really good to have it in the morning. And just flush out the blood and the kidneys and the liver, and it's very. Just uplifting. So that's something that all of us can do in the morning, is just to have a lemon water.
I love that. And it's so true, because the start of our day really does set us up and carry us through the entire day. And if you just leave the lemon on the counter and your cup on the counter for the next morning as your reminder, it. It's so good. So then you're not pouring something down your throat or grabbing something. It gives you space. Because I think a lot of what happens to Liana, and I know you'll probably have an opinion on this as well, is we don't ever give ourself time and space to really tune into what we need, what we want. It's like instant gratification. So we're used to grabbing and grabbing, and it's so programmed and it's so habitual that even just drinking the water, squeezing the lemon kind of gets you into a different space and gives you time and grace to be like, hmm, what do I really want today? Or need today?
Yes, exactly. And anytime we're nourishing our body or preparing our own food or spending that time in the kitchen or investing that time in the kitchen, we can use that as a meditation, and we can give gratitude and say thank you that I'm putting all of this nutrients and this nutrition that I need into my body. And it really does set a good tone for the day. And, you know, I love what Gabby Bernstein talks about, especially in her new book that's coming out. She says how us humans, we're going through this era right now, how we resist being happy. Like, we sabotage ourselves. We're destructive, and we resist feeling good. And so a lot of it is that mental and emotional shift of allowing ourselves to feel good. And I didn't know that I could live a life of feeling healthy every single day because I felt so unhealthy every single day. And so just knowing that, okay, it's possible for me to feel really good every single day consistently for the rest of my life. So it's a really good goal to have so good.
That brings me to my next topic of, you know, sometimes I literally pinch myself, like, can I really eat these foods? And I'm staying the same size and I'm enjoying my life, and I feel this good because I had so much guilt and fear around food because I. When I grew up, it was like, you know, we did not eat Very healthy. My mom cooked at home, and it wasn't too chemical laden at the time, but it was definitely like, like, oh, man. Like carbohydrate soul food. Not. I would, like, skip the vegetables. I ate pasta every day. Like cheese, macaroni, sugar, you name it, I was all about it. And so for me, when I started on my initial health journey, right, And I got into the fitness world, it was like, oh, wait, I had this idea that no carbs and really strict on, you know, carbohydrates, watching your sugar, all that stuff.
Stuff.
And then I started getting fear around food. So what happens when we get cravings? It's like, well, you're gonna go crazy because if you can't get it the natural way, or you're even told that you shouldn't have that, or, no, that's not good. Of course you're creating this complete imbalance. So now it's like, oh, my gosh, I can actually eat these foods. Just the. I. I do exactly what you do, just the healthy, organic version. And I feel so good. But once in a while, I'll get that little tiny voice that's from my past, like, the guilt. And I try to quiet it right away. So what can you share with us around your techniques of quieting that voice, getting that association into looking at food as healthy and beautiful?
Yeah. Well, all the recipes in my book basically cover, like, everything I crave, from chocolate peanut butter cups to chocolate bar, like hazelnuts, tacos, burritos. And it's for every type of eater, too. I'm a meat eater, and I just eat as many plants as possible, so. And I mean, there is organic options for everything. Cookies and chips. Like, I was craving chips yesterday, some quick fats and oils, because I was working on my computer all day finishing my next book. And so I had some kettle chips today. I was craving fats, and so I just had, like, a whole avocado. But I don't have that guilt around food anymore. Like, it's completely, completely gone. I mean, it's been been seven years now since I've healed and transformed my health. And so I know it's a different journey for each person, but, okay, say, for example, like, around the time of my cycle, my menstrual cycle, I will crave so much foods. And some people are really surprised by how much I eat or how much I let myself eat. And I'll eat pasta, but it's made with black beans, or it's made with brown rice, or it's made with Chickpeas. So I don't feel guilty because I look at this big bowl of pasta and I. I'm like, you know, this is amazing compared to what I would have eaten seven years ago. Seven years ago, I would have eaten completely bleached pasta. That would have made me feel so bloated, and it would have really just weakened my immune system and affected my thyroid and my lymphatic system. And so I look at everything I'm eating as an upgrade, and so there's no guilt attached. And in the beginning, when I was transitioning from junk foods to natural lifestyle, I would eat, like, 20 chocolate balls a day. And I didn't feel guilty about that at all because I was like, this is a major upgrade for me, eating that packet of Tim Tams and cookies and eating a whole chocolate bar in one sitting. So I looked at it like, okay, I'm getting all these nutrients from food. And so if, you know, and because we all know, like, we're all humans and we all have the same energy inside of us, we all know when we eat food if it's doing us good or if it's doing us bad. We know even if we try and lie to ourselves, we know deep down, okay, this food has nutrients and it's nourishing our body. And when we eat like that, there is no guilt attached. And so I just encourage more people to try that. Like, completely commit to having a consistently healthy lifestyle for the rest of your life. And then if you do go out and eat something that you know is genetically modified or it's junk food, you won't feel bad about it because you'll know, okay, you know, I'm just trying this, or I'm just testing this. I'm going to go back on the health path right after this. And I've had some, like, I've got friends who have children, and so it's interesting around children that they might be like 7 years old. And this one little boy was upset because I wouldn't try any of his food. And he kept offering me all this pizza and chocolate. And so one day he just, like, he'd come up to me, he's like, can you please just try this Hershey's chocolate? It's my favorite chocolate, and I really want you to try it. And I was like, oh, he's so sweet. I was like, okay, I'll try it. And so I took a piece of it. And back in the day, I would have thought, okay, I've ruined it. I just destroyed my body. I put chocolate and now I just need to go out and binge and it's all ruined. But I had the chocolate and I tasted it for what it was and you know, it was not appealing to my body at all. And you know, I was polite and I said thank you for letting me try it, but I really do love my organic chocolate and you know, here's why. And so it definitely just is a journey and a process. This.

That's so good. And you know, I, I do believe just from so many different studies and different things that I've heard and, and different books, that especially if we're associating guilt, I mean, your body's sending out chemicals around what you think from your brain. So if you're like, oh, this isn't good for me, not only are you getting chemicals from the food, but you're getting chemicals from your brain that are negative as well. So it's kind of like, you know, when you eat that food, the healthy food, like how you said you just allowed yourself to have, you know, all the different chocolate balls that you wanted. It's like when you're thinking, well, this is an upgrade, your body's saying, you're right, this is an upgrade and it's good. So I believe that it helps you process those things more. You know, me and my girlfriend were in Italy and we were like, oh my gosh, we cannot get our hands on any vegetables, right? And we're both super, super healthy people. And we're like, how are we going to survive this for a week? Cause I really want a massive salad. And we were like, okay, girlfriend. And we're just going to sit down at our pasta meal and we're going to look at it, we're going to pray over it, we're going to bless it, and we're going to say how amazing this is going to be for our body and that drinking this glass of wine every single night is going to be great for us. And I'm telling you, we both came home feeling amazing and fit. Like, I was like, I swear to you, if this happened at home, I don't even know. So what do you think of the, the mental connection on that?
Yeah, definitely. So that it does change the vibration of the food. And you guys had a very positive intention and, you know, you were doing the best you could in your environment. And that's all we ever can do, is the best we can do in our environment. So sometimes, you know, we will Go out with friends and we will consume GMOs or something that's not as healthy. But if we just have that intention or pray over it like you guys did, then it really does change the whole frequency of it and it changes your attitude, and it does help with digestion because as soon as we're negative or stressed, it puts a lot of acidity in the body. And so it just is like a breeding ground for depression and negativity and disease. And so if we're thinking positively, then it really does help.
I love that. Okay, so you say, you know, I want to go back to this. You say that your. You really feel that your sickness was a blessing. And I want to talk about the different ways that we can look at our lives and maybe some of the things that are. We believe are happening to us and how we can switch that into happening, happening for us. I love that quote in saying, what are some things in your life, maybe that you do daily that you kind of use as lessons or ways to get better, grow, or expand?
Yeah. So I do know we have to turn everything that happens in our life into a positive eventually, because we. If we dwell on something that happened to us, then we just get depressed. And I've been down that road of severe depression and in that dark, dark pit and. And definitely bad toxic foods can really put us there. And so I know that's not a place that we can stay. And our emotions will tell us because we feel so bad. So we know as human beings. Okay, I don't think I'm meant to feel bad every single day for years and years and years. It's just not our nature. It's not our natural state. And so, yeah, so basically I just looked at it like, okay, I need to turn this into a positive. And so I just said, okay, well, this can be my turning point in my life. Like, I don't have to keep living like this or keep suffering with this addiction or eating junk foods. And so that it started as a blog, and then it was helping. It helped myself basically stay accountable to staying to eat, like, natural foods. And then it was helping a lot of other people going through the same issues. And then it turned into a book deal, and now I'm on my third book deal. Now I just travel the world and teach this kind of lifestyle. And so I just make sure that every single day I'm having, like, a fresh juice. And I would say, like, lemon water is a really great, simple way to start the day. And then just making sure that we're getting all the nutrition that we need because we do need to honor our bodies and our foundation. And so having a fresh juice every day makes a huge difference. So having a green juice, like I've got a green juice in there and a beet juice recipe in the book, that basically it's just like drinking the blood of fruits and vegetables and it puts so much nutrition into our cells. It's like an injection. It's like our medicine. And so if we commit to having a fresh juice every single day for the rest of our life, and it doesn't have to be huge. I mean, when I was healing, I had six juices a day to restore nutrition back into my body. But even if it's a 12 ounce, like a small juice every single day, and even if it's like cucumber and celery with some lemon, maybe a bit of apple, some ginger, it's going to do so much transformation in our life and just give us that foundation of nutrition that we need. So I'm very passionate about making sure everyone just gets that nutrition every single day. I love that.
As you were talking about that, I was kind of flipping through your book, looking at some of your just smoothie recipes and different juice recipes and things like that. And I think that's so important for people to hear that if you've had a day where you've fallen off, if you've had a day where you're feeling defeated, you know, no matter what you've already eaten. For me, a huge trick is to pour juice or a smoothie or those good nutrients in because it reminds me, it's like a reminder to my soul that, yes, this is what I want. Yes, this feels good.
Yes.
This is a way to start moving in the right direction instead of, like beating myself up and saying, no, you can't have anything after this. It's like, oh, yes, that's my reminder. And you've got some really great ones in here. I was like, oh, my gosh. Kale and banana and what else? This is amazing. But I love that you said that. You really honor your soul and you. And you put the recipes in your book of what you're craving. So tacos, burritos, different cereals. Oh, my gosh. I'm literally cauliflower popcorn. I'm sorry, I'm looking at all these French fries. Bean burgers. Yes, please. It's almost like my dinner time. So I'm looking at your book, just drooling. But why the book? Why did this have to come out for you?
Well, it was like a natural progression, definitely, because it started as a blog. And I did that because I thought, you know, I tried to give up every single day for five years, but nobody in the entire world, none of my family, friends, nobody knew I was eating junk foods. I kept it in the closet. I kept it secretive. I thought people would disown me and think I was just weird, that I would sabotage my life by eating junk foods. So when I started the blog, this was after I got diagnosed in hospital. Basically, I was, like, coming out to the world. I'm, like, telling people, look, I've been doing this for five years. And so that really attracted a lot of people because a lot of people were going through the same thing. So it really connected everyone. Then after the blog finished, I did it for every single day for 365 days. Then people were asking, can you please put all this into a book? And so it just really made sense. And so then when the book came out, I thought, you know, this is cool if it can reach, like, a lot of people from all around the world who are healing from cancer, depression, eating disorders. I mean, any kind of health issue can be improved or even reversed with proper nutrition and nourishment. So that's why it had to come out. And I'm so glad it did.
We're also glad it did. And, you know, one thing I want to point out to everybody, if you're in this struggle right now or if you're in the process of healing, is everybody that I talk to, including myself. You know, the more vulnerable we get, the more honest we get, the more that we share our message, and, you know, our mess really becomes our message, the more that we heal. So I found in sharing, in talking, in saying where I was at, in saying where I wanted to go, in going to those places, finding those people who had been through it before, so much healing actually occurs. It's like, the more people I talk to, the more I'm like, yes, this is amazing. Of course, this is a reminder. So I love that you did this. And it's like, in your mess, right? You. You came up with this amazing book, and you would have never done that if you stayed in shame, if you stayed in guilt. It's so beautiful. So thank you so much for sharing that. And for everybody who doesn't know you yet or know where to follow you, where can we follow you, find you? Where can we get your book?
Okay, so everyone can just Google the Earth diet, and my website will come up, and my Social media, so whatever platforms you like, I love doing the Facebook Live video. So you could check out the Earth Diet account on Facebook or Instagram, Pinterest. And then you can subscribe to theearthdiet.com and I send out different recipes each week. And then I have a radio show every Wednesday on hayhouseradio.com and that's at 6:00-clock EST, so New York City time. And then the Earth Diet book is available on Amazon and Barnes and Noble and basically any bookstore around the world, so you can get it that way. And then also, Lori, I just want to let people know that they can get all of their health ingredients@vitacost.com so it's an online website and you guys who are really busy, I'm sure you'll appreciate this because you can basically go online and order everything and they'll ship everything to your door so you don't have to go out and spend a lot of time shopping if you're really busy. And they have up to 50% off, like what you would buy in an organic store. So literally, if you were to go to Whole Foods, you buy something for 10 bucks, you could get it for five on Vitacost.com and so it's super convenient and free shipping. And so it takes out that cost factor of being healthy. So I'm really like want everyone to remove all the obstacles that are in the way to stopping people from being healthy. And so, yeah, check out Vitacost.com and then I've got a code Earthdiet you can use and you get 10% off your entire order. So Vitacost.com and the codes Earthdiet.
So awesome. Thank you so much for sharing that. It really is about removing the obstacles and making it easier. So you guys will also put that in the show notes. So a couple last closing questions, quick. But before that, I just want to say thank you so much for being on and I'm so grateful for you.
Yay. Thank you so much for having me.
So a couple last questions. What are you most grateful for in your life right now?
I am grateful for cashew ice cream. Yes, I love it. And organic gummy bears, because gummy bears were a huge downfall for mine and I would always crave them. And so I love that there is organic gummy bears out there now that are gluten free and they're vegan, so they're not. There's no like cow's hooves or gelatin in the gummy bears and no corn syrup. So it's amazing to be able to eat gummy bears for the rest of my life, but in an upgrade. So I'm super grateful for those things.
Yes, I love that. And I love that answer because that just shows how present you are in this very moment. And I freaking love that. So, okay, last question. You have a 30 second elevator ride with someone and they look over at you and they say, how can I make myself happy? What do you answer?
Wow, that's amazing. I would say that happiness is present in every single moment. Like, at our foundation, we have peace in every single moment. And it's just allowing ourselves to tap back into that and giving ourselves permission to be like, you know what? I've got all this stress going on, these thoughts, these things happening with my family. There's pain in my body, body. But at the foundation right here, right now is this overwhelming peace and love and flow with the universe. And so that's something I always remind myself as well, that we can feel happy in every single moment because it exists in every single moment. Yes.
