Yeah.
So, guys, it's one thing to decide that you want to pivot. It's another thing to make the announcement that you are pivoting. And then, guess what? People are still going to try and pigeonhole you in your old identity. And that's not intentional, right? That's just how they know you. So then the third thing is you got to stand up for your pivot, and you got to make it real and you got to make it consistent, and you got to make sure you're showing up in your new pivot.
Welcome to the Earn your happy podcast. We take what we want and we anoint ourselves, get ready to earn, own, and unapologetically rock your happiness every single day. Are you with me?
Here we go. And we're back with another episode of he said, she said.
And today we're talking pivots, like career pivots, area of expertise pivots, you name it. And. And here's why we have been getting so many questions lately around the pivot, and it makes sense as to why. Guys, think about it. The world has changed so quickly over the last 15 months or so that some people are pivoting out of necessity. Other people are pivoting out of being inspired to pivot. Right. They're saying, if the world has changed this much, I might as well go do what I want to do. And I can tell you this, no matter which reason that you're thinking about making a pivot for, you have full permission to pivot because the days of being expected to have the same career or do the same thing, you know, for 30, 40 years and then retire are absolutely long gone.
Yeah, I. I can't tell you how many times it's like whether I am speaking on a mastermind or I go to a mastermind, or I'm doing calls or, you know, with our Fast Foundations group, we get so many of. It's always the question of how do I pivot? How do I let my audience know? This feels so challenging to pivot. This seems like it's out of the blue, like, so much worry around pivots and one thing that I want to talk about is I want to normalize pivoting because it is such a huge part of your life, especially now with everything changing. You almost have to pivot more often because of something new comes out, a new social platform. You kind of have to, like, meld to what's going on and be very malleable. Yes. So flexible right now. And, you know, I think it's. I think it's so cool because some pivots are going to seem like they're going to be such a natural pivot for you. It's going to be like, okay, I'm in fitness, and now I decided to do network marketing with shakes. It's like, those go hand in hand. Right? So let's talk about some of the. We're going to go into some of, like, maybe the. The things that feel natural, how you transition your audience. And then maybe for some of you, your pivot is so opposite of what you were doing. And, you know, that's something that I'm in right now that we're going to talk about as well.
So very first thing you got to know about pivoting, though, is this. You have full permission to pivot. You don't owe anybody anything. If you've been an expert at something for five years, you are not obligated to be an expert at that thing for the next five years. You do. You. You have full permission to live your life and serve in a way that makes you happy. And if that is shifting, which, by the way, it's natural, if you're growing, of course that's going to grow. If that is shifting, then by all means, full speed ahead on your pivot. Don't wait for anybody's permission to do so.
Yeah, I've actually gotten asked on a few podcasts. They talked about, you know, these are the things that I want to talk about with you. They've sent me over a sheet of, like, questions before my interview, and I had a couple podcasts that a lot of them were on fit. They're like, okay, since you're the fitness expert, this is what I want to talk about. And I was like, oh, actually, I've pivoted. I'm not talking about that anymore. I touch on it as a foundation, but I'm not doing that because those are things that we have to do. Instead of me being afraid that this podcast wouldn't want me anymore, which if they didn't, that's okay, because I don't have a product for them anymore. I don't. I'm not that person anymore. So where are they going to go? Right. If everything is shifting in another way, you have to remember, sometimes you have to do the hard stuff to pivot.
Yeah. You're standing up for your pivot. So, guys, it's one thing to decide that you want to pivot. It's another thing to make the announcement that you are pivoting. And then guess what? People are still going to try and pigeonhole you in your old identity. And that's not intentional. Right. That's just how they know you. So then the third thing is you got to stand up for your pivot, and you got to make it real, and you got to make it consistent, and you got to make sure you're showing up in your new pivot. So we're going to give you a few steps on exactly how to make a pivot. If you want to pivot right now.
The first one is you're actually going to make an announcement in this new interest that you have in this new thing that you want to do, and then you're going to take them on a daily journey. Notice I said daily of what that pivot feels like. Kind of like what you're doing right now. So again, I'm going to use this because I. I did it myself. So I'm going to use fitness. Transitioning into personal development, transitioning into alcohol into alcohol. It's a natural transition, right? It's like, oh, my God, fitness was hard. Personal development is tough. Let's drink.
But there's a link. See, in this is one of the first keys is Lori linked them all together. Fitness, the natural link into self development was self development is a huge part of fitness.
You're changing your mindset about how you feel about yourself.
When she was doing self development, she realized, boy, what I like the most is helping women connect with each other better. Hence the book. And then when she wanted to start the alcohol company, the entire connection between the two was, it's the alcohol company. Light pink. That helps people connect, collaborate, and celebrate each other better, which is all the same ethos, the same backbone as what you were doing.
Yeah, I love that you pointed that out, because truly, it is so tied together. Like, I don't. I don't understand how, you know, I couldn't see it in the beginning of the alcohol thing. I mean, I guess I did a little bit after of talking about the things that would really light me up. Then it was like, okay, how do I incorporate all of it? So I think that's one of the questions you can ask yourself, which we're going to get into the next step. But it's really like, how can I tie in all of it? And those are the questions that you need to sit in.
And when Lori says make the announcement, right, Step one is make the announcement, she doesn't necessarily mean tear the band aid off and say, from now on, I am no longer talking about fitness. I am only talking about self development. What you're doing is you're saying, hey, everybody, remember when I said tied together? I know you know me for fitness, and I will still give you plenty of tips around that. But honestly, the part of fitness I like the most is the self development and the self work. And so you're going to see a huge increase in me talking about self development or, you know, whatever your pivot is. I'm just using this as an example, of course. And don't worry, I'll still deliver you some fitness content. That's what you came here for. But we're going to take this to the next level. And when you frame your announcement that way, not only did you give yourself permission to unapologetically talk as much as you want now going forward about your new subject matter, but also you didn't immediately leave people behind because they have an attachment to you for what they know you as. And you can't fully leave them behind. You can't surprise them. You can't jump out of the bush and be like, ah, I'm somebody else now. Right? Like, you have to bring them along on the journey with you.
I'm somebody else now. God, there's so many days I want to do that.
Oh, great.
Not the Laura you knew yesterday.
Hey, guys, let's talk about routines. I want to tell you something I'm so proud of. I have been filling my 64 ounce water bottle every single day and I've been drinking it all. And sometimes I do this twice.
What?
Okay.
It's because I am using liquid IV hydration multiplier plus immune support to maintain and strengthen my immune system.
Why is this so important? Because just like you, I know you're listening to this because you have big goals, just like myself, whether it's in.
Your business or in your body or both. And that means you have to take care of yourself. And that's why this is so important to me, you guys. I am obsessed with making sure that not only I get my water, but.
That I get my vitamins.
So let's talk about hydration multiplier. Plus immune support. A cutting edge blend of vitamin C, zinc and wellmune. And it's in a single serving convenient packet to help strengthen your immune system.
So vitamin C is well known to.
Help protect your body and support good health. Zinc is the second most abundant trace mineral in your body and it supports immune cell health and function. And wellmune is a naturally sourced beta glucan that's proven to help strengthen your immune system. Each packet is full of fresh, natural tangerine flavor. And it tastes so freaking good. Trust me, if I can drink 64 ounces of water, I'm telling you, that's.
Not necessarily the suggested serving size, but that's what I do, you guys. Liquid IV can provide two to three.
Times more hydration than water alone. So get your liquid IV's hydration multiplier plus immune support in bulk at Costco.
Or you can just make it super.
Easy and order online and get 25%.

Okay, the next step is to transition your current audience, which we already kind of touched on that.
Yeah. But there's an art to it, there's a method to it. And transitioning your audience means if, if, if you, you know, give content on any channels, whether it's social media, whether it's a podcast, doesn't matter. This doesn't mean you stop talking about the old thing and start talking only about the new thing. It means you start mixing them in. And some you don't want to hear this, but you do want the truth on how to pivot. If you are giving, you know, let's say, one piece of content per day in the past, and you wanna pivot, you're now probably gonna wanna give two pieces of content a day for a while so that you can start bringing along people who already know you for one thing. And having that second piece of content per day be about the new thing.
You know, and you don't have to view this as really overwhelming because I know that if you're pivoting right now, I know what you're doing. I know that you're listening to podcasts about the thing you want to pivot on, and I know that you're reading books about the thing that you want to pivot on, and I know you're reading articles or following different people. So for that second piece of content, what you can do is you can.
Literally just share what you're doing.
Be like, hey, this quote was in my book this morning that I'm reading. Hey, this is the podcast that I listen to, and I loved it. Maybe you put a quote tile out there about a quote that was said from the person you know, hey, this is the course that I'm going through. Here's what I learned so you can think about. Just recycle what you are actually learning. This has always made my life so much easier. So I'm not coming up with, like, all of this original content. It's like, what am I consuming and what did I like about it? You guys, shared content is just as good. You know, resharing content that. Yes. Is just as good as making your own.
It really is. And. And so if you're wondering, like, well, what percentage content should I be sharing so I can build this new area of expertise, start out after you make your announcement, hey, we're also going to be talking about something new. Then start out 50, 50. That's a great rule of thumb. 50% old stuff, 50% new stuff. Then I can't give you an exact timeline here, but I can tell you when it feels right. I want you to go to 60% new, 40% old. And we're not talking about, you know, months and months down the road. We're talking about a few weeks in. We're talking about a few weeks in. Go to 60 new, 50, 40 old. Then a few weeks after that, I want you to go to 70, 30. And then maybe a month after that, I want you to go to 80, 20. And this is where you're going to slow down the pivot a little bit. Now, look, you're 80% new content, 20% old content. So you're, for all intents and purposes, at this point, you're living in your new identity. So for a while, I want you to hang out there in 8020 land. 80% new, 20% old. Then I would say a good four to five months into the pivot is when you can finally stop talking about the old stuff and really live 100% in your new identity.
So the next step is to really start doing something to attract your new audience for your future pivot. And this might look like something like, hey, guys, you know, I've been loving talking about personal development. I have my five steps to unlocking your inner business boss that you can opt in for at blankety blank, whatever your email opt in is. If you guys don't know what an email opt in is, Chris, do you want to explain that a little bit?
Yeah, for sure. It's a, it's a free piece of valuable content. It's a tool that in the past you would have charged for. So for example, you might have a mini video course of four videos that you might charge 49 bucks for, but now it's free if you tell me where to send it. And the opt in means they're opting in, they're giving you their email or their text. Another great opt in that people do is when they build a text list, they'll give you workout of the day or, you know, positive mantra of the day or something like that. So all you have to do is give me your number and I will text you this positive thing every single day. Those are opt ins. They're pieces of valuable content or tools that you give other people in exchange for their email or their phone number on your text list so that you can build these lists that you can continue to control and contact them with.
Yeah, and you should really be only building these opt in lists for the place that you want to go because you're going to be sending them info and programs that you create in the future specifically for your future pivot. So you don't want to get it all muddy. Like, yeah, but I know my audience would want these workouts right now. If you're going into personal development, because then when you launch your personal development program or write your book or whatever, that looks like you have a bunch of fitness people again on your list who aren't exactly interested in what you're doing.
So I want to clarify what she's saying here. The content, meaning what you post on social media or in what you talk about, the content goes 50, 50, 60, 40, 70, 30, 80, 20. And then before you know it, you're in your new identity, your opt ins, the actual tools that you're building lists with from the moment you decide to pivot going forward are 100% about your new identity. Because it makes no more sense to build an email list or a text list full of people that want things you don't want to talk about anymore.
Okay, there are a lot of people who know about email and text list, but there's some who don't. So if someone was just like, okay, I can like figure out an opt in. What, what can they use? Where can they go just for that, just in case.
I mean, one of the first things you can do if you want to build a text list is go to four westdigital.com forward slash text me. I'll repeat that. Four West Digital. So that's f o u r four westdigital.com text me. And on that site they've got some information about how to build a text list. More importantly, if you sign up with them, they teach you exactly how to build a text list and they meet with you each month and they help you go through and build a text list. If you want to build an email list, then I know they do that as well. But honestly, you can Google how to build an email list or how to build a good opt in and there are so many free tools out there that'll tell you how to start doing this. But yeah, super basic as to where to house that email list. You're going to want to sign up for either Kajabi or Constant Contact or one of those type of platforms to house this email list as you collect numbers.
Yep. Awesome. Okay, so now you also have to know that while you're pivoting, you're going to lose a lot of people. Like people are going to come out of the woodwork and either say you're a total a hole for what you're doing or pivoting or what do you know about that? Or whatever. And that is good.
This goes back to when I said you have permission to pivot.
Oh, it's so good to lose people. It is.
I want you think about this. If your whole audience is only people that wanted to talk about what you don't want to talk about anymore, now you have to keep being someone you don't want to be. And there's nothing more painful than that.
Yes.
So enjoy the cleansing.
Yeah, it was kind of a tough transition because people were like, keep emailing me this and I just want your workouts. I was like, well, I'm not going to give those anymore. I didn't say that, but it was kind of like it hurt for a while watching, you know, people go, watching the list go down and, and now I'm so grateful because I now have the freedom to talk only about what I'm interested in. Okay, Chris, so Map Out Path is our final one about pivoting.
I always say math is the path. And this means if you're pivoting your area of expertise, that means you're likely pivoting where you're making your income from. So this might mean you're pivoting from a job that you want to leave into being self employed or you're pivoting from an old identity that you used to monetize into a new identity that you want to now monetize. And guys, all you have to do is figure out, okay, when I make this pivot, what is the bare minimum budget that I need to live on? Now, I don't mean like eating ramen, I mean the bare minimum to have the life that you want to have and figure it out. So let's just pretend it's a hundred grand. They'll say you're already making 100 grand at your job and you want to make this pivot. So you want to do it in a way that's comfortable. This is where you say, well, I'm making 100 grand at my job, but I know I'm going to be perfectly fine if I only make $80,000 a year. Because it's okay to pivot before you've replaced your whole income. But the answer as to how and when that's okay is by you looking at your own budget. So math is always the path. Now let's say you want to make a hundred grand in your pivot. There are so many different ways that you can get there. For example, you could have 100 people sign up for a $999 three day workshop. And by the way, those hundred people doesn't have to be one workshop. This could be 25 people per workshop. And you do it quarterly, right? So if you had 25 people per workshop once per quarter, that's four times a year, that would be 100 grand. If you charge 999 for that three day workshop. Also you can flip those. You could have a thousand people pay you 100 bucks for an online event. And don't forget, again, you can break that down. You could have a couple of those throughout a year because your pivot is always based on a 12 month cycle. You want to make your money in a 12 month cycle. You could build an online course and you could sell 500 people that online course for $199.99 throughout the entire year. I mean, that is totally doable for people that want to make six figures and on and on and on. So those. There's a lot of different ways that you can get to six figures in order or when you're making this pivot. Now if your goal is to get to 50, cut those in half. If your goal is to get to 200, double them. The point is, you don't want to make a pivot blindly. You want to have a 12 month plan, not just how you're going to shift your content, but how you're going to shift your earnings. And when you have a plan, you feel secure. And when you feel secure, you feel empowered. And when you feel empowered, you're going to make this pivot that much bigger, badder, faster.

Yeah, it's. It's really, really one of the most normal parts of life, I believe, is to follow that nudge. And I know that there are definitely some people who maybe follow it a little too often because maybe they think this isn't for them or this isn't for them. But if you're really clear that you're good at it, good at something, you love it, you love talking about it, it's lighting you up. And you can even add it to what you're currently doing, you can do that too. That's. That's a form of a pivot as well. So if there's something you love that you're adding something additional as well. It's kind of like you've now earned the right to be able about both, especially if you're well known in one arena and you're adding something else.
So listen, if you're listening to this as it just came out, then that also means this is the week that we reopened enrollment into Fast Foundations, where we help people make these pivots, if you like. This is just a tip of the iceberg. If you like this kind of advice, like, I'm over here trying to make a pivot, help, please. That's what Fast Foundations is for. It helps everyone go from wherever they are right now. And we help them create a plan to exceed a half a million dollars. Now, that doesn't mean that you have to make a half a million dollars or have half a million dollar goals to join Fast Foundations. What it means is if we look far out and make a path for 500, then you might look and say, you know what, I only need to do a fifth of that, or I only need to do half of that in order to have the lifestyle that I want. So math is always the path. And we help coach you through that. Lori and I personally on Q and A calls. Plus we assign you a one on one business coach that we bring in and train up to coach you in the way that we want. Plus we have two virtual mastermind events that are two days long each one one in the beginning of it, one in the end of it. And we help people make these pivots in six months time like you wouldn't believe. We have one person that lost their job unexpectedly and unfortunately when they lost their job unexpectedly, their income dried up. But guess what? We helped them pivot to six months, just four months of this thing in fast foundations. So I will tell you we have absolutely amazing proven results. So that being said, if you want to opt in, do me a favor, text me the word fast to 310-421-0416 again, text me the word fast to 310-421-0046 16 or just go to fastfoundations.com with an S at the end fastfoundations.com I'm not sure how many spots are left as you hear this because it typically sells out right away in that first week, but if you're interested at least take a shot at it. Fastfoundations.com or text me the word FAST to 310-421-0416 even if you don't, please know you've got permission to pivot and we are here to help you. Ask us questions. Keep listening to podcasts. We'll give you as many tools as possible.
