I know that this is such an ingredient that is missing in so many people's lives to have enough time in your life and in your schedule that we don't normally plan in, to truly drop in with other people, to get to the root of what we're really feeling and what we're really thinking. And that's the only way to find new answers is to get out of that cycle of what you're in.
And we're back with another episode of.
He Said, she Said.
And I've got a picture. Paint this beautiful picture. So we were just sitting outside by this beautiful roaring fire in the backyard in chilly, swickly Pennsylvania. It's right outside of Pittsburgh with some of our best friends in the world, the Hannafords and my brother Nick. And we all had coffee in hand and music on. And there's fires going inside and there's fires going outside. And it's about 42 degrees and all the leaves are like red and orange. And yesterday, like, that doesn't the best part. Yesterday we took their 56t bird out to go look at fall colors and all the beautiful old estates here. And then we saw this really cool. What was this annual hunting blessing of.
The hounds and the horses for the hunt.
So picture old school east coast, everybody hunting on horses in all the garbage and the lead horseman in the big red outfit and all the hounds that go chasing out in the beginning, we got to see them do the blessing of that. And then the start of it. I mean, this has been right out of a Lifetime movie about fall.
Now, to clarify, it's a fox hunt, but they just let the foxes go. They just corner them now. I wanted to know. I was like, what are we hunting? What is this? But it was so cool. It was so much fun. And we just want to share the importance of pattern interrupt.
Yes.
Because it's so easy to get inside of your head and your problems in your life and just get in this inertia and feel like you can't get out or have the solutions to the problems. And so often when we can do something that feels opposite of what you feel is important for right now, that it's usually the place where you're going to reset and get your answers.
Lori just said a very key statement that I hope you caught. Sometimes you have to do the opposite of what feels important. Right now we are both so busy. Me with Frollo. We're right getting so close to launch her with Glocey. Good news. She's scaling, but scaling comes with A whole new set of problems. And then, of course, maintaining the personal brands. Like, we just came off of running our week long elite level Mastermind retreat, which was the best one yet, by the way. But the amount of work that goes into that week is insane. And then coming out of the week, of course, you've got all the other work that you deferred me for Frello and her for Glossy. So when she said sometimes you have to do the opposite of what feels important. Jumping on an airplane right away, the next morning after the Mastermind and flying to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, even though we knew that we would love it once we were here, didn't feel like the most important thing to do in the moment. Catching up on the work that was deferred felt the most important. Trying to put out fires felt the most important. Just roll up our sleeves and buckling down even more felt most important. But the problem is that would have just gotten us more of what we already have. So maybe we could have checked a couple of items off the list, but the problem is we'd be doing it from empty tanks. And this is where what Lori stated is so important is sometimes you have to choose the opposite what feels important, and you have to choose that pattern. Interrupt. I hope you caught that phrase too. Now, Lori and I are terrible at, you know, interrupting our pattern of putting our head down and working, working, working, working, working. But sometimes we're forced to. We put something on the calendar way ahead of time. Hey, this trip we bought the tickets. We bought the Packer Steelers tickets. We've got to go no matter what. And so even when that time comes, you're like, oh, this feels the opposite of important because it's already been on the calendar and because you've already made commitments to people you care about, you get on the airplane anyways, and then you get here and you have the moment that we're having. And that is the moment of, like, instant deflating. I kept walking around on this beautiful hike through the woods that we took with the dogs yesterday with, as you know, a group of friends. And I kept saying, my God, my soul feels so good. My soul feels so good. And I didn't come here for that, but I came here and realized I needed that.
And I also think, thankfully, we have created the type of relationships in our life, like, really gotten intentional with who we want in our life, that while this is so soul filling, I also had moments where I got to ask my very brilliant friend questions about my business that I was personally struggling with and being able to have people who I'm like, oh gosh, I get to actually get a lot of different perspective because I think when you are with the same people frequently you get that one perspective. But when you get out with other people who you don't talk to all the time, to gain fresh perspective is really huge about your business and your life. And that's the only way to find new answers is to get out of that slide cycle of what you're in.
I really want to unpack this because this is incredibly important for everyone to hear. So not only do we come here and all of a sudden or our souls are filling back up and we're recharging because of this force, pattern interrupt, but when you build the right network in your group to do it with, in other words, other successful, like minded, driven individuals, the conversations that you have while you're filling your soul, even though you're not working, will still have a profoundly positive impact on your work. You got to sit and talk to Tara yesterday and just for context, everybody, you know, Tara is a legend in the alcohol industry, an absolute legend. And I'll just kind of leave it at that, but like a list legend in that industry and understands scaling big companies. Matter of fact, here's something I can share. She was employee number one for, picked by George Clooney and Randy Gerber for Casamigos on the day that they said, hey, let's start this thing, who do we need? And then she was with them all the way through the feature famous exit of when they sold Casamigos. And so she understands startups, she understands scaling, she understands the product business, she understands shipping, logistics, cash flow management, all of those things, all of the things that Lori is new at because she has a product company. And so as Lori navigates some of those challenges, oh my gosh, we've got this big PO order, oh my gosh, we've got this marketing problem where this stopped working. Oh my gosh, we've got the whatever right scaling problems. When she has that, not only are we here filling up our souls, but she was able to sit at the kitchen table yesterday holding a glass of wine, talking for hours through these things that Tara is already an expert at. And so if you're starting to pick up the ingredients for the perfect cake, it's this, it's planned pattern interrupts that you have to show up for even though you may not have chosen to leave in that moment. That's number one. Number number two, it has to be really high quality people that you're doing it with so that you can still have conversations that grow your business, even though you're not technically working on your business. And number three, you gotta do it in beautiful areas that fill your soul.
Well, we just came off of our Elite Mastermind, which we're so excited that we get to enroll for next year. But the Elite Mastermind has really special moments. It's four days for a reason. Because by the third day, I feel like everybody really, really dropped in with each other. And I would say the fourth day, when we sat by the pool for like four hours getting to talk with everybody and have curated questions, I had some of the best conversations I've had in a really long time. And I think a lot of people in the group that I got to be in got to solve a lot of different problems or just feel very seen in some of the problems that they were having where they thought that they were totally alone. So I know that this is such an ingredient that is missing in so many people's lives, is to have enough time in your life and in your schedule that we don't normally plan in, to truly drop in with other people to get to the root of what we're really feeling and what we're really thinking. Because I just don't think that happens over getting together for a dinner or getting together for a coffee.
Yeah. And what Lori and I are experiencing right now, high level, successful friends in a soul filling atmosphere for four days. We saw that play out in the Elite Level Mastermind. There were two members. So if you guys don't know, the Elite Level Mastermind is the one for businesses that are 500,000 and over a lot of them, most of them are seven, eight figure businesses. So obviously busy, successful people. And it's easy to get in your head and say, oh, I can't come to this one. I've got these obligations. Oh, I can't come to this one. I've been traveling too much. Oh, I can't come to this one. Been busy. And so what'll happen is it's a year long, there's two or three events, and when you sign up in the beginning, you're like, yay, first event. Of course I'm gonna be there. Go the second event. Yay, third event. You're like, I feel like I've already gotten enough out of it. Plus I feel really busy right now. And so, like clockwork, I can count on it. One or two members will always text me a week before, like, hey, I can't make next week. So sorry, got a lot going on, got you're traveling back to back, blah blah blah. And every time I'll pick up the phone or I'll call him back and I'll say, hey, I know exactly how you're feeling right now. I know you feel like this is the opposite of important. Remember we just mentioned that phrase earlier. But I can't express to you based on my eight years of experience plus my, you know, running these, plus my, my experience of being in them, I can express to you how crucially important it actually is for you to come to this built in pattern interrupter. I'll even ask them, I'll say, what are you going to do this week if you stay back? I'm going to work, I'm going to catch up and do. Okay, are you going to move the needle on your business or are you going to check boxes just keeping it on the tracks? I'm going to just check boxes keeping on the tracks. Exactly. And that will never change unless you truly move the needle. And that's why you need to come this weekend. So then they come every time and halfway through it they'll come up, they'll give me a big hug. They'll say thank you for taking the time to call me and asking me to come or telling me I needed to be here. This is exactly what I needed. Even though it felt like the opposite of important.
