Things I'm Grateful For, Excited About, and Manifesting for My 44th Birthday
10 Dec 2024 · 17 min
Podcast episode (Lori and Chris Harder) recorded around Lori's 44th birthday. Lori reflects on three things in a Power-9 style: gratitude (chiefly deeper, intentional friendships and couple-friend relationships), excitement (growing her supplement/brand business after its first year of product sales and clarifying go-to marketing channels), and manifestations (organization/systems, personal brand growth, partnerships, creative spaces at home). The episode includes sponsor reads (a probiotic product referred to as "glossy" with 3 billion CFU, blinds.com and Shopify promos), personal anecdotes (birthday boat karaoke, planning weekends with girlfriends), and practical advice (prioritize in-person time with friends 3–4x/year).

If I would have really understood the connection with how the challenges that are currently in your life are simply there to try to make you become the woman that you are supposed to be or the person that you're supposed to be, I wouldn't have spent so much time stressing, worrying people, pleasing, chasing people, wanting to be in a circle that didn't want me. So simply find the people who are excited to be around you and go there.
And we're back with another episode of.
He Said, she Said.
All right, babe, kick it off with a glossy tip. What is the glossy tip of the day?
The glossy tip of the day is that again, it is the holiday season and it is a really fun, awesome new, new gift to get for people. So, you know, I feel like so often we kind of revert back to our old gifting ways, which I know you and I do all the time. We get, like, the same thing all the time.
Here's your butter and liquor. Here's your whatever.
Yeah, for me, I think it's. What is it called? Aesop.
Yeah, really nice.
Like soaps and lotions and stuff.
Or the candle. The Ley Lamo candles. Here you go.
Which are amazing gifts, but also the gift of health is incredible. And a bloat free holiday is pretty freaking epic. So.
So we're having a pretty epic birthday weekend, which we're going to talk about in a minute, but it's full of the wrong food, the wrong drinks, the wrong activities, all that stuff, all in the effort to have a really fun birthday weekend for you. The only thing saving my butt right now is three glossies a day. And I. I know that's extreme. I know three is extreme, but I'm.
Telling you, it's really not. You can take it.
I feel deplorated. Look at me. I feel good.
I look good. And that's. That's 3 billion CFU's of the probiotic, which is amazing. I think we're still a good level of zinc and lots of vitamin C. So we're good.
It's working for me. All right, guys, well, listen, if you want to get it for a gift for somebody else or just feel devoted for the weekends or for the holidays, all you have to do is go to getgloci.com that's getgloci G L, O C I getgloce.com, use code happy. I'll leave the number out, but let's just say it is an awesome celebration. All right, what's your number?
44.
44. It's. Isn't that angel numbers? Like magic numbers? What are they?
Well, I love fours. Yes. Well, four. Four, four. Angel number. I am obsessed with fours. And four and four equals eight, which is infinity. I love it.
I think, you know, we have dogs, and those are four. They have four legs.
Oh, my God.
And we have two dogs.
Oh, my gosh. There we go.
It's a magic year. Anyhow, I kind of want to interview you because we were even just saying it in the car and way back from the workout with our friends. I'm so proud of you this year, and I'm so excited for you for the year that you're going into. And I am every year, but this year especially. And so I kind of just wanted to ask you on your 44th birthday, fun Power 9 style. So you know how we do Power 9 in the morning? Three things you're grateful for, three things.
You'Re excited about this podcast?
Yeah. So if you guys don't know, every morning, Lori and I do something called the Power nine. And we say out loud to each other, three things we're grateful for for the day, three things we're excited about for the day, and three things that we wanna manifest that day. Well, we're not gonna do nine, but we are gonna follow that format. I wanna know one thing you're grateful for from this past year.
Oh, my God.
One thing you're excited about going into this next year, and one thing you're trying to manifest as you cross over here as well. So let's start with the grateful look back at this year. What are you most grateful for in, you know, age 43?
Oh, there's so much. But the one thing I feel that grew up was just like the year that I've been waiting for on it was my relationships. I feel like I went to another level with my girlfriend relationships and even, like, our couple friends. And I feel like you and I have grown beyond anything because we both, you know, we went through something really hard with my business a few years ago that lasted a long time. And then we went through something with your business that was really hard, that, you know, is going through some stuff and the hard things make relationships. You know, it gives it the opportunity to strengthen, but also, like, just the amount of things that I planned intentionally with girlfriends, whether it's just connection or around business, for Masterminding or whatnot. I went from a girl who, like, you know, maybe all of you guys look at me, who you're like, yeah, you have great relationships. And yes, I have really good relationships, you know, and some that are amazingly deep. But I would say this year, I was so intentional about time spent and really utilizing that time in a really intentional way when we were together with questions or, you know, different connection exercises. Not for the whole thing, but just for some of it to really break the ice. And I just feel so connected to people, like, so deeply supported in every way. I do not feel lonely. I do not feel like I don't know who to call or text or voice note. Like, it was like my. Honestly, you look back and, like, your birthday wishes and the amount of people who texted and voice noted and said beautiful things to me, it was like, oh, this is happening because of how intentional I got over the last 10 years, you know, so I'm really grateful for that because that is my number one. That's, like, my everything.
So before we go on to the next one, could you pull a good lesson out of that for everybody? You know, you're grateful for how good your relationships got this year. What's the lesson if you're like, guys, go do this, or, guys, here's what I learned about good relationships.
Put the work in to get in person three to four times a year. Yes, three to four times a year with your girlfriends, no matter what your schedule is. No matter what. I was so busy.
Busy.
You know what? If you're busy and your business is busy, then make it about business. Be like, guys, could we get together, like, mastermind and help each other on each other's business business, but then go have two or three dinners because you, you know, stay together two or three nights in a hotel or an Airbnb or whatever you can, whatever you can possibly scrounge up. Stay at each other's houses. I did that multiple times. Make it about business. Then, like, it will make your business better. It makes you better. It makes your relationships better. Like, put the effort in. Or at the end of the year, if you don't put the effort in, you will have the relationship that shows you did not put the effort in. And then you grow apart. And you wonder why you don't have friends. And you wonder why you don't have the support. And you wonder why you feel lonely when your business sucks and you have no one to talk to. I don't feel that way anymore. Business has been extra hard, but because I supported myself so well with the relationships. The relationships are supporting the challenging times of the business.
I love that. Okay, so then the next one is excited about what are you excited about as you've crossed over into 44? I mean for this year.

I mean, I'm so excited about my relationships, but I'm gonna go into business because I feel like the first year in business, which we're, I think we're now in month eight of glossy being launched, official actual sales actually out in the world. So we've got a little bit of time left on our one year span, but it's also like come January, that feels like a whole new fresh start as well. I am most excited that I feel like we spent the first year laying a foundation, figuring out our teams, hiring teams, letting go of teams, figuring out what sales channels we were going to be putting our effort towards, what sales channels and marketing channels worked best for us. Meaning, you know, are we gonna go hard on TikTok or IG or are we gonna, you know, email marketing or partnerships or ambassador or affiliates? And we tried so many different things and I will say a lot of those things didn't work, but then you look for the couple that do and then you double down on those. And so the first year was just like what works, what works and now we're understanding what works. So now we can start putting the teams and the effort and the plan behind those. And I am excited to grow and, you know, see this company really get out there. I'm excited to just make a amazing, profitable company that really impacts people and their health and create a wonderful community around it. Because as this company grows, I get to do really cool stuff. So I am excited for this company to grow because when it grows the way that we want it to grow, I will get to do the coolest stuff for not only the people that work for and with Gloce, but the community aspect is going to have some really cool things when we get more cash in the company.
I could tell that this is what you're most excited about going To New Year. Because when you just got back from your planning strategy session in Austin with Natalie, your business partner and the consultant slash mentor that you guys hired, this is the most high energy clarity you were ever able to come back and be like, Kris, here's what we're doing, here's how it's going down, here's what's going to be the result. It was awesome.
We hired an advisor who understands the supplement world and has had a company of his own, still has a company of his own, and he brought it to a billion dollars crazy valuation. So, yes, it's definitely, definitely going to be exciting.
Love that. All right, and then the last one is, what are you going to manifest this year? I know a lot of things, but what's the one thing that you really want to manifest this year?
Organization and systems. In every area of my life, I'm manifesting just personal brand growth and maybe some exciting partnerships. Growth in glossy. Definitely we have some serious goals around that. And right now also manifesting some different creative spaces within our home.
Mm, I love that.
I know what you mean for podcasting and content because I'm really excited about the content that we're gonna be doing.
Last question. What would you say to your 29 or 30 year old self if you were able to look back and communicate with her about being 44?
Oh, my God. Your life is just beginning. Don't live your life as if it's running out of time or, you know, oh my gosh. Once I hit. When you're in your twenties, you think once you hit your thirties, your life is over. When you're in your thirties, you think once you hit your forties, your life is over. If you grow and seek challenges. Like if I would have really understood the connection with how the challenges that are currently in your life are simply there to try to make you become the woman that you are supposed to be or the person that you're supposed to be. That I would have a completely different relationship when things went wrong, when people left in a huff out of my life in a way that I didn't want. I wouldn't have spent so much time stressing, worrying people, pleasing, chasing people, wanting to be in a circle that didn't want me. Don't go to the places that don't want you. Yep, that's what I would say. Just simply find the people who are excited to be around you and. And go there.
Such good advice. Well, happy birthday, I love you and I'll love you forever. I'm having so much Fun celebrating you this weekend with everybody. And hopefully everyone's able to take those tidbits back and apply it to their life as well. And what a fun thing to do. Guys, do this on your birthday. Like, literally, when you're having a birthday celebration, share the one that you're grateful for, the one thing you're excited about, and the one thing that you're going to manifest, people want to know what you're looking forward to.
Oh, and I did get to do birthday boat karaoke.
That was your dream. That was what you wanted?
Yes, it was Christmas karaoke on a yacht while the sun is setting on a yacht. Christmas music, all of the Christmas lights. And got to kick it off. Also, I had a vision of. And the girls will get this. We'll lose the guys here. But I had this 1960s vision of what I wanted to wear and how I wanted my hair and all of the things and this dress not on the boat.
Now you're talking. The night before.
Yeah, the night before. And it was fun because we got a couple of my favorite girls together and we did our makeup for, literally, it was like five hours for the three of us, and just sat around and talked and got our hair and makeup done and then took a bunch of fun content. Because, of course, why would you. Why would I ever sit for that many hours without getting all of the photos? And the two women that were with me just, like, went off for me on getting. Getting content. And I was like, we should all do this for each other on birthdays. Like, make it special, make it memorable. Get the photos that you want. Have so much fun. So it's been a really, really special weekend. And there just so happens to be a Christmas walk today. So where we live in Newport beach, they have this big thing called Just the Christmas Walk. And it's like, everybody gets dressed up in coffee costumes, and it's thousands of thousands of people. And there's music and there's.
I call it Drunk Mom. Like, the drunk mom's Christmas wine.
And it's like, yeah, the bad moms were all let out in their costumes. So it's very entertaining. So we're about to go do that in a couple hours.
All right, guys, well, thanks for listening. Hopefully you have fun peering into our life once in a while. What's going on Lori's, what's going on, mine. We certainly love sharing it with you guys, and we're always grateful when you listen.
So until next time, you guys. We will see you next week.
