How To Provide Accurate Moving Estimates

Luis (Louis) Massaro (CEO, Moving Mastery) explains a practical, repeatable formula for accurate moving estimates. He outlines five steps: (1) gather a room-by-room inventory in a CRM (so customers can verify it), (2) derive weight from cubic feet (cube × 7) and use weight to estimate boxes (weight ÷ 100), (3) add accessorial charges (pianos, stairs, long carry, storage, extra stops, valuation, etc.), (4) calculate price using historical productivity and adjustments for local vs long-distance rules/tariffs, and (5) run estimate-versus-actual reports per company and per estimator to identify training needs and tighten accuracy. Practical notes: inventory must be room-organized (not alphabetical) so customers and movers can verify; CRMs can automate cubes/weights and pricing; track and refine using company data.
