Louis Massaro (speaker) argues that real success arises from generosity and contribution to groups and communities. He contrasts scarcity-minded requests with an abundance mindset: instead of asking "what can you do for me?" he recommends approaching networks by asking "what can I do for you?" and shows this through a brief personal anecdote about learning the lesson.

And when you don't share, and when you hold back that scarcity, thinking we need to be abundant, thinking when you give, you receive. I believe that with all my heart. This is your opportunity right here. To share, to give connections. Whenever you're in a group, can I just give you a tip? Because people do it to me all the time and it annoys the shit out of me. They come up and they're asking for stuff. The conversation starts like, what could you do for me? Type of thing. If you want to succeed in life and you want to succeed in a network, in a community, in a group, always come to the table with, what can I do for you? And watch what you get in return. I learned this years ago because I used to get in a group and I'm like, I gotta make the connection, here's my car, what could you do for me? Type of thing. And then I learned that, no, that's not the way to do it. You have to go in and you have to show that you're there to be a part of the group. You're there to support the group. You're there to give, and you'll get everything you want in return.
