A short YouTube monologue by Louis Massaro arguing that every hire serves one of two purposes: (1) an investment opportunity—people hired to directly generate revenue or deliver billable work—and (2) freedom value—people hired to free the owner/team to work on higher-level activities and grow the business.
Everybody that you hire. You hire for two reasons. It's either investment opportunity, meaning you're going to hire that person and there's a direct investment. They're going to make you money. Right? You need a salesperson to sell the jobs and you need a mover to do the jobs. Without those, there's no money. Right. The other option is freedom value. You hire somebody for freedom value that frees you up or somebody on your team up to work on higher level stuff so that you could start to move out of the day to day, so that you could start moving out of some of the struggles that you might be dealing with and start to build that business.
