The 5 Most Costly Mistakes Keeping Online Coaches Broke

Maciej Horomajski breaks down five mistakes that keep online fitness coaches stuck: generic offers without a niche, abandoning leads after one contact, weak social proof, invisible content, and no metric tracking. He walks through fixes like narrowing your niche to postpartum moms, a five-step DM follow-up sequence, and tracking close rates and ad spend weekly.

You're leaving so much money on the table by making any of these 5 mistakes, and I almost guarantee you that if you're watching this, if you're an online fitness coach, you are making at least 2 or 3 of them, okay? So after this video, you'll fix them and you'll start making a lot more money. Now, if you don't know who I am, my name is Maciej Horomajski, and I'm on a mission to help online fitness coaches systemize their businesses so they can enjoy more freedom and make getting new clients easy, okay? So they can grow their business and enjoy a bit more freedom. So let's jump straight in. You're posting content, you're talking to leads, you're signing some clients, but you feel stuck. You're working constantly, but your income isn't growing constantly. The problem isn't that you're not working enough. The problem is that you're making one or more of these 5 costly mistakes. These are the inevitable anchors holding your business back from scaling to $30K, $50K, or even $100K per month. In this training, we are going to diagnose each one of them and show you the exact steps on how you can fix them. Mistake number 1, probably the most common one: your offer is generic and you're literally speaking to nobody. Because you're speaking to everybody, therefore you are speaking to nobody. You're a fitness coach, you help people lose weight, you're a coach for busy professionals because you, you think those people will have money, but in reality you're trying to speak to everybody and as a result you're speaking to nobody. Your content is generic because you don't have a specific person to talk to. Your marketing is ineffective and also generic because it's not tailored to a specific pain point. When you're a generalist, you're a commodity. Think about it like people can get a meal plan, a workout plan off of ChatGPT. Why should they hire you if you're just another guy giving tips for free on Instagram, and you're a coach for busy professionals, or you're helping people lose weight, why should they hire you if they can just use a robot for $20 per month? Or they can even use the free version of ChatGPT and get probably a similar meal plan to what you would give them. You're competing with hundreds of thousands of online coaches online right now. Some are bigger, some are smaller, but you're competing with all of those people, and you can't charge premium prices because your offer isn't a premium-specific solution. Maybe you saw a coach, a business coach, that told you charge $999 for 12 weeks, 16 weeks, and you started charging that, but nobody is willing to pay you on the phone. Why? Because your offer is shit. So first you need to pick a niche. Stop being afraid of niching down. You think it's too small, but it's actually not. You know, let's say you want to talk to, um, you know, new moms struggling with postpartum weight. This is how many of these women there is in the United States alone right now. You're telling me that you cannot sign 20 of them on your high-ticket package. And really, the easiest way to pick a niche is to serve your past self. Where were you before you found the solution, right? Maybe you were a busy professional who couldn't find time for the gym, a new mom, as I said, struggling with postpartum weight. That's your ideal client. That's the easiest way because you, you fully understand their struggles, their fears, and their true desires. So you know exactly how to speak to them because you fully understand them. Now, once you pick your niche, state it clearly in the first line of your social media bio. For example, I help postpartum moms lose weight without giving up carbs. This acts as an immediate filter. Okay. You will filter out bad leads. You will repel a lot of people, but you will also attract moms who will be willing to pay you high ticket because you are the expert coach for moms, right? That's why you can charge a lot of money because you are the expert in this specific industry. Second, create a unique mechanism. So this is really what makes you different. A bad example, I'll coach you to lose weight. A good example, we will use my metabolic priming method to help you lose 20 pounds without giving up carbs. That's a good example. There's nobody selling a program like this on the market right now. So you're one of the kind. You're not a commodity. You can charge whatever you want because people cannot compare it to anything else because there simply is nothing like this on the market. This way, as I said, you can price it like a premium product. So you can stop charging $200 per month and you need to charge based on the outcome. Okay. So for example, for 12 weeks, I would recommend $2K. 6 months, it can be $3.2K, for example. And for 1 year, it can be $5K, $6K. There's coaches that charge $10K, $20K. For 1 year. You can get to that level. It just depends on how confident you are in yourself that you can charge this much money, you know. Because if you are 100% confident that you will change somebody's life, why would they not pay you $10,000? Why would they not pay you $20,000? You know, people buy stupid shit all the time. They are— they will be more than willing to pay you a lot of money if you can properly explain to them how their life will change. Completely transformed for the better. Now, a good rule of thumb here is to keep raising your prices until your sales close rate drops below 25%, which means if more than 1 in 4 people are saying yes on your discovery calls, your price is too low for the value you provide. At the moment it drops below 25%, that means that the value is lower than the price, right? If it's above that, that means the value exceeds the price, right? So it's just a great rule of thumb. If your close rate drops below 25%, that means you should probably keep that price or maybe even lower it a little bit if you want to do so. However, if it's at 25%, that's a good point to be. Mistake number 2: you don't have a clear follow-up system. A lead DMs you, maybe you DM them, you outbound, you talk for a bit, they go cold. What do you do? Nothing. You know, you let thousands of dollars in potential revenue die in your inbox because you're afraid of being annoying or salesy. Or you just simply don't have the right system. You're leaving about 80% of your potential clients on the table. Okay, it's pretty crazy, but statistics show that 80% of sales require at least 5 follow-ups or even more after the initial contact. Yet 44% of salespeople give up after literally just one. So I'm going to give you the exact follow-up sequence that our appointment setters use that we place on online fitness coaches' accounts that allows them to book anywhere from 1 to 5 qualified calls every single day. So step 1, 1 hour after they ghost you, essentially you want to like one of their messages in the conversation. You want to see that heart pop up, and this will send them a notification and it will bump you up to the top of their inbox. Second, 1 hour after that, if they still ghost you, like or comment on one of the recent posts. Maybe like one of their stories. If they have a private account, you can just skip to the next step. 3 hours after that, if they still ghost you, go back to the DM and say, "Still there?" or "All good?" Next day, if they still ghost you— next day, if they are still ghosting you, send a simple message like, "Good morning, happy Monday." And lastly, step 5, if they are still ghosting you, send a funny pattern-interrupt GIF like Forrest Gump waving. You know, now after that, if they are still ghosting you, most likely they are just not interested right now. You know, it's not the right timing. However, you can still follow up with them later. So now I'll show you exactly how you can follow up with past leads somewhere down in your inbox that just ghosted you and didn't end up booking calls. So here's how to do what we call resparks. Hey name, was just thinking about you. I just posted a video on topic they care about. Thought you might find it valuable. You can also send them like a free lead magnet, like a, you know, like a meal plan, a grocery list, maybe like a recipe. Or you can also do a direct check-in. Hey name, we just wanted to check in. Last time we chatted, you I mentioned that you wanted to achieve this goal. How's that going? The truth is that there is no such thing as a burned lead, you know. Maybe if you really like send them 50 follow-ups, but if you don't send them at least 50 follow-ups, they are not a burned lead. You just have not followed up with them enough. You can still revive a ton of these past leads and book calls, close them, and make a lot, a lot more money. Mistake number 3: you don't post enough social proof. You get the client an amazing result, you know, they killed it, and you don't talk about it. Or you just post a single boring before and after photo with no context. Social proof is the single most important piece of content that you can be posting on your social media to convert skeptical, you know, just some people from your Instagram into paying clients because you show undeniable proof that you know what you're talking about. So the fix is to weave social proof into literally everything. Every single day you should be posting at least 2 slides of social proof on your Instagram stories. This could be a client win, a screenshot from them, or a case study. But the key here is Tell the story. Don't just put their before and after. People don't care about your client. They care about seeing themselves in your client's story. So instead of saying, congrats to John for losing 20 pounds, who cares? But let's say your target niche is busy dads. This is John. When he came to me, he was working 60-hour weeks. He had zero energy. He was afraid of not being able to keep up with his kids. He thought he was destined for the dad bod. We implemented one small change at a time, and now he's not only 20 pounds lighter, but he's running circles. Around his kids at the park. Now, every single busy dad from your audience, because you already optimize your social media presence for a specific avatar, client avatar, every single busy dad watching this story will be like, damn, like, I want results like this, right? Let me hire this guy. And rule number 3 is use message screenshots. Screenshots of happy client messages are great as well, right? Because these are their words, literally their words, right? It's raw, it's genuine. It's much more believable than a polished graphic or like a testimonial. Mistake number 4, you are a robot. You completely lack authenticity. Your content is basically 5 exercises for abs, 3 healthy snacks. You're afraid to have an opinion. You're a walking, talking ChatGPT prompt. Listen, people can go to ChatGPT and get a meal plan for free. You know, why would they hire you if the only value that you can provide is just free tips to help you lose weight? The same thing that they've already seen hundreds of other coaches on Instagram before you. They give the same tips. They provide the same value. You know, which is very surface level value, just some general tips they can get from ChatGPT. So why would they decide to hire you? Really ask yourself this question. Because you are you, you know, because you are unique. You are yourself. Your personality is your only true advantage. There's over 500,000 fitness coaches on Instagram. If you don't have an opinion, you are literally invisible. Your personality is your only true competitive advantage. So first, have strong opinions. What do you believe in that other coaches don't? What common advice do you think is bullshit? Say it out loud. It will attract your ideal clients and repel the ones you don't want anyway, right? They will be nightmare clients. 2, talk about more than fitness. Share your views on life, mindset, relationships, business. Show them who you are as a person. The more you talk about just macros, the more you sound like every other coach, you know? The more you talk about your life philosophy, The more you become one of a kind, because people don't buy programs, they buy coaches. They need to like you as a person. They need to relate. They need to understand who you are as a person. This way you become one of the kind. You're not just another coach online. Be vulnerable. Share your struggles, not just wins. People connect with your past pain, not your current perfection, right? That's a big, very big problem. Like, a lot of coaches just post themselves jacked because they are obviously like IFBB pros, you know, Olympians. Obviously you guys are jacked. You put a lot of work into the way you look. However, you cannot expect clients to just magically appear in front of you because in their heads you've always been this jacked guy, even though that's obviously not true. However, if you don't share your story enough, if you don't share your struggles, you're just this perfect person. People don't want to work with like robots that are just perfect. They want to work with people that understand them. But I'm not going to give you guys hanging here. I'm going to give you 10 content ideas. So first, my unpopular opinion on cardio, the fitness industry lie that keeps you stuck. Why I stopped tracking calories. Maybe if that's what you want to talk about. A book that changed my life. My biggest failure as a coach. The mindset shift that unlocked my potential. Why I wake up at 5 AM and why you shouldn't, or why you don't believe in waking up so early. Because there's a lot of coaches that say, hey, you need to wake up early. Maybe you completely disagree with that. Maybe you think that's not the key at all. The truth about motivation. A personal story about overcoming your struggle. My core values and why they matter for fitness. Again, People don't buy coaching programs, they buy coaches. And mistake number 5, this is huge, especially if you want to scale your business. You don't track any metrics or you don't track enough metrics. You're flying blind. You feel like your content is not working. You feel like your sales script is not working. You feel like your post-booking process is not working. You cannot improve what you don't measure. You can't scale. You can't make smart decisions. You might have a huge leak in your funnel that's costing you $10K per month But you'll never know, right? Improving your show rate by 10% could be the difference between breaking even and being wildly profitable. But you don't know because you, because you don't track it. So I'm going to give you the most important metrics that you need to be tracking if you want to build a real predictable scalable business. So the goal here is to essentially create a simple spreadsheet or buy one online or get one from us if you become our client and track these metrics, review them weekly and do a bigger picture review monthly. Okay. So here are the basic metrics. Cash collected, how much cash hit your account, you know, this week or month. Cash Contracted, which is the total value of new contracts signed this week, month. This is especially important, obviously, if you are doing pay in fulls, right? Because there might be a difference between, you know, how much somebody paid you upfront between the actual contracted value, right? If you, for example, did the payment plan. Number of Calls Booked, how many sales calls were added to the calendar this week or this month. Show Up Rate, what percentage of booked calls actually showed up. By the way, if this is low, you have a pre-call system problem, okay? And we actually have a video on the channel breaking down our exact pre-call process that we give to our clients so you can just steal it for yourself and get your show rates to 80%. Then obviously close rate, so what percentage of the calls you took resulted in a new client. Next, if you run paid ad metrics, you definitely need to be tracking cost per lead, cost per call, cost per acquisition, return on ad spend, the most important metric, right? Now most of you guys are doing outbound organic, so you want to be tracking number of conversations started, number of inbound DMs, reply rate. This way you know whether you, for example, need to tweak your opening message. And conversation to call percentage, which means what percentage of people that you reach out to decide to book a call. This way you can also reverse engineer and know, for example, if you want to, you know, book one call per day, you can know predictably that, okay, I need to send this many messages. So let's say now I want to start booking two calls per day, I need to send this many more messages. You never know this, you will never know this unless you track. By tracking this, you can instantly diagnose the exact bottleneck in your business, what's stopping your growth, and make data-driven decisions to scale. You want to stop guessing and start tracking. So these are the 5 most common and most costly mistakes that I see when a new coach comes to work with us. It happens all the time, you know, and you're leaving so much money on the table. So I hope after watching this video, you're going to implement and solve at least 1 or 2 of them, you know, and you're going to start making a lot more money.
