Men Only Do THESE 9 Things When They're SERIOUS About You

Brody Boyd breaks down nine behaviors that show a man is serious about you: he bets on your future together, learns your values and backstory, meets your needs before you ask, defends you publicly, moves toward your pain instead of away, starts hard conversations about compatibility, brings you into his social circle, says no clearly, and sacrifices personal freedom for the partnership.

Have you ever been with a man who says all the right things and you still can't tell if he's serious about you or just comfortable? I'm Brody Boyd, and as a man who's already deeply in love, I know exactly what's going through our minds. These are the 9 things men only do when they're serious about you. By the end, you'll know exactly where you stand. And number 8 is the one almost every woman hears as a maybe when he's already said no. For over 20 years combined with my wife, Antia, we've been helping thousands of successful women all over the world to get a loving, long-term, and committed relationship with the man they want fast, So let's dive in. Number 1, he bets on your trajectory, not a perfect past and not a perfect right now.
He wants to know what does the future actually look like? Are you actually going to enjoy each other's company for the long term, or are you just going to be fighting and killing each other before, before that long? So he wants to know what's the actual future look like, and he's going to get— the only gauge a man has to really know what the future look like is what the past And the present look like, and if the past and the present looks not so good, if there's a lot of drama, if there's a lot of heartache, if there's a lot of fighting, if there's a lot of bad communication, it could be on his end also. So it doesn't just mean that if that is the case, it's all your fault. It could be totally his end as well. But a man will still look at that and see, oh, it's just going to continue like that. So why would he commit to that? And Yeah, he might have to realize he has to fix it himself. He has to do something to make it better. Or he may realize that you guys both just have an unhealthy dynamic together. You have different needs, different desires, different wants, and maybe just the two of you just aren't really a good fit. They aren't meant to be together. You guys don't share enough of the same values, beliefs, lifestyles that it's just not going to be a good situation long term. And he may see that before you do. He may even know that. Or he may say, yes, this is it. This could be— I could see the future. He wants to And here's the thing, a lot of guys, things don't have to be perfect right now. They don't have to be perfect in the past as well. But guys, just as you probably do, they'll look for the trajectory. What are the improvements? What are the things that we seem to be getting better at? And he'll see. And so then he can see out in his mind's eye, okay, it seems to be that the trajectory seems to be up. The trajectory seems to be up. I know when me and my wife were first dating, we had some issues, we had some arguments, but I had already seen the trajectory.
I knew.
We were on a good path together.
Number 2, he wants to know why you're the way you are, not what you do, where you come from.
If a man deeply cares about you, if he deeply loves you, adores you, cherishes you, he's going to want to understand why you are who you are, what makes you who you are, why you think the way you do, why you feel the way you do. What are your values?
What are your beliefs?
And he's going to want to explore that, Partly because he's wanting to make sure that you're actually, you know, wife material, someone he wants to be with long term, that you guys are compatible match. You know, the future is family. The future is about coming together as a partnership in compatibility to create something amazing, to create an amazing family, to create an amazing relationship. So he's going to want to understand where you are coming from for those reasons. And also, if he really loves you, so for one, he's he's making sure it's the good long-term fit that you're both together and that he commits deeper to you. But also, he's gonna be— if he's loving you deeply, he just wants to— he's gonna become more curious and he's gonna want to learn all about you, all about your intricacies. And, you know, this may happen over time. He's not gonna ask all these questions right off the bat, but he'll ask you about things about your beliefs about certain things that are happening in the world or what your favorite activities are, your favorite foods. He's also partially doing this to look for, again, what makes you happy, what things he could do. But he's just overall going to be more curious about you. He's going to ask a lot more questions of you, and he's going to explore deeper things with you. He might share deeper stories and want to hear your deeper stories of your childhood, your upbringing, your early relationship experiences. Things like that will be a big thing he'll be looking for if he deeply cares.
Number 3, he handles it before you ask. A serious man runs ahead of your needs quietly. So that means that he's actually not only asking you about what you need and your problems, but he's starting to understand you better. He's looking for those cues. He's reading into the details and remembering them so that he can anticipate your needs and make sure you're happy ahead of time. He's preparing things like if you guys are going on a trip together, he's making sure he has hotels booked, flights booked. He's packed some food for you both, some things to nourish you. He is taking care of the safety and security of wherever you're going and making sure that's set up ahead of time. He's anticipating your needs, whether he understands you're about to feel hungry and he's making sure you guys have the stop that you can get food together, or that you are getting tired and that you need some time to go to bed early that night or take a nap. He's looking out for that and he's making sure that things are prepared so that you can be taken care of and happy. If you're going camping, he's making sure that you have all the things you need, that he knows that you need, that you want to be taken care of, to feel like it's an enjoyable experience and not a drag. Not that you're suffering out in the rain and the cold, but that you're warm and cozy and have yummy food in your tummy. He's looking out for you in that way. And also he's making proactive changes even within himself, not because you told him to, not because you're trying to guide him or manipulate him to change, which will never work because a masculine man is just going to push against that. But he's inspired to change because of your femininity, because you're in your feminine polarity and use feminine communication. He's gonna want to change on his own. He's gonna be inspired and he's gonna make those changes even without you having to ask, because ultimately he's gonna be reading the signals and looking toward how he can become a better man for you and a better man in the relationship that will make you a happier woman. Number 4, he shuts it down when someone disrespects you out loud in public without being asked.
Because he defends you to others. So most men are very territorial. They care about their relationship. They care about their friends, their family. If it's a masculine man, a man who's really grounded in his masculine core, he's gonna have this desire to provide, to protect, to maintain his territory, to make sure everybody is happy within his kingdom. That everything is good. There's no issues. There's no lies, deceit, corruption, evil. He's making sure that that's being taken care of. So that's going to be especially true with with you and your relationship. He's going to want to make sure that you are protected, that your honor is protected, your reputation is protected, your your emotions are protected. Your heart is protected. Your mind is protected. So he's going to defend you if other people or other forces are trying to disturb that, trying to assail that. So how will he do that? Typically, if there's a family or friend or somebody you both know who maybe said something that was a little rude to you or was a little abrasive, he's going to say, "Hey, don't talk to her like that. You know, don't don't say something like that. That's not cool." Or he's going to he's going to speak up. Or if there's like a waiter or if there's somebody, a service person who's like. Being a little bit aggressive, or if there's like, you know, a homeless person or somebody on the street who's like getting in your space, he's gonna be like, hey, you know, stand away from her, get away. He's gonna like physically move them away, or he's gonna verbally take charge, get them, give them instructions of what they need to do to avoid a conflict, because he's defending you. You are his princess, you're his queen. He's looking out for you. He's making sure you feel safe, you feel protected.
Number 5, he moves toward your tears, not the door. He goes into the hard feelings with you.
And I had some more healing to do from my avoidant attachment style from my childhood growing up. So obviously that relationship didn't work out. But when I met Antia and I started becoming much more emotionally invested with her, when she was feeling sad, when things were coming up, I would actually come closer to her. I would ask her more questions. How do you feel about that? What else do you feel? I would help her process them. I would actually encourage her to let out those emotions. I would encourage her to cry. I would encourage her to scream if she wanted to scream. Sometimes I remember we were driving in our car. We were going to in Northern California through through some forests.
Mendocino, I think, is that area, the city.
But she would be frustrated. Something was coming up, and I would just say I would stop the car, pull over to the side of the road, and I'd say just get out.
Let it out.
Or I would get out of the car. I said, I'm gonna get out of the car. I just want you to scream it out. Let it out. Get it out of your system. She would scream, let it out, and I'd say, okay, great.
And then I would come back in the car and we would continue.
So that was like a balance of me like wanting to help support her and protecting myself. But I was making it a priority to help her go through whatever she was going to go through, and I was there for her. Even as she knew that the reason I was doing all that was because I cared about her, I wanted her to release that. So that's a good sign he's emotionally invested. When he is willing to go into the fire with you, when he wants to support you and he's not running away, he's not pulling away and or telling you to stop, you know, don't feel sad, don't cry. You know, oftentimes we'll hear a lot of people just say, stop crying, stop crying. It's not sad. Don't worry about it. Stop crying. It's like, no, cry, let it out. That's, that's, that could also take some emotional maturity on their part and they might not be there, but as long as they're trying, that's a good sign they're emotionally invested.
Number 6. He starts the hard conversation. A man building something to last won't dodge it. What this means is, is if a man has deep feelings of love for you, he sees the relationship as a long-term potential. He sees the relationship like a castle that he is building, that he's laying down the foundation brick by brick by brick, and he wants to make it strong. He wants to grow it. He wants to improve it. He wants it to last over time, which means He's not always going to do things just to please you, but he's also going to do things that are in the best interest of the relationship long-term. For example, bringing up tough subjects, having tough conversations, going into problem areas or things that he foresees could be problem areas for you and him in your relationship. He's willing to address those things such as long-term goals or values alignments, Or an issue that he sees, for example, with something that you want to have in the relationship that he may feel he's not capable of delivering, or something he wants in the relationship that he feels that you may not be capable of being for him. And so he wants to have those conversations so that you can work it out. He wants to find a solution. He wants to find that win-win where both of you can get your needs met. And so the relationship has a foundation of strength long-term. Where neither of you are feeling like your needs are being left out of the relationship, your desires, and that the relationship is serving both of you ultimately. And that doesn't mean it has to be perfect all the time. There can be issues, there can be hiccups, but it means that he's willing to address those things. He wants to uncover them, he wants to work on them, and he wants to put that effort in long-term to make sure the relationship sustains. Number 7, he doesn't just introduce you, He folds you in. Anyone can say hello. He makes you one of them.
He helps you to bond with his closest friends and family.
This is a great sign that he's emotionally invested in the relationship. So not just that he introduces you to his friends and family, that's really easy to do. You know, anyone could do that. Even if he just sees you as friends with benefits, he could introduce you to his friends and family. He could just say, hey, this is Susie, you know, and they could just meet you and be like, okay, cool, that's Susie. Some guys, I think, even use that as a tactic to try to make you think they're invested by introducing you to all these people, but it's, it's superficial. So the way you know he's actually emotionally invested is that he's facilitating you connecting with them on a deeper level. So he's actually making a deeper introduction. He's making sure you guys have time together to really connect. He's maybe even telling you things about them, what you're going to like about them, how you guys are going to connect. He's telling them about you, what they're going to like about you, what they get, what they should talk to you about. And he's really facilitating you guys becoming close long-term. That's a great sign. That's a sign that he's actually emotionally connected to you, not just— he's just checking off a box. Okay, I introduced her from my friends to stop her from thinking I'm just a player, to stop her from thinking that I'm not really invested, which I'm not. So that's how you know he's actually serious when he facilitates a deeper connection with those friends and family. And for example, I remember when I was, um, uh, dating Antia, I made sure that I was connecting her with some of my friends that I had met in Hawaii, that they were getting time to spend together, that we were even hanging out together, uh, doing things together. And then of course my family also later on, and setting up Zoom calls and, um, getting her to know them and telling her all about them and, and sharing stories.
Number 8, I'm not ready is a no, not a maybe. This is what it sounds like when he's not serious.
I'm just not sure if I'm ready for a relationship yet. I'm just not, I'm not quite there. I got, you know, I'm in a hard place in my life. I just broke up with my ex. You know, just, I'm just kind of exploring right now, looking for fun activities. I'm just, you know, having fun. You know, I'm not quite there yet. So you want to watch for this one as well. Because I think, I feel a lot of women get caught into this one, which is just because he says he's not in a relationship, oh, he might be soon. He might be ready in a couple weeks or months, and I'll be the first choice. I'll be the one ready for him when he's finally ready. But generally what he is saying when he says this is really, I'm not that interested in you. I'm not that into it. I'm not that, I'm not feeling it. That's really what he's saying. And it's a polite way. It's an easy way to gently let you down and make it feel like it's just, you know, it's just, I'm not just not quite there. The other thing is, if he does mention his ex as a side note in this, he could still have a strong connection with his ex. And that could be a real possibility.
And again, he's prioritizing his connection with his ex above you, which is also something to watch out for because he could actually be really interested in his ex. And you don't want to get involved in that situation because who knows what's going to happen with that.
And then also you could still be waiting for months, maybe even years if he's still heartbroken.
If he was divorced or widowed, he may not actually be ready and he's telling you the truth. And so you want to make sure you're not holding out for something that may or may not happen at all. And again, or he could just really not be that interested in you. So you have to be aware of that as well.
Number 9, he gives up his freedom and calls it a win. With this ring, I set you free. So a man in love, he knows that he's going to be sacrificing some of his freedom, some of his independent will, as are you. Because when you become a couple, you're not just acting independently, which means you're not just going for exactly what you desire, not considering the other person's desires as well, or the impact that their actions have on you as well. So that means being willing to make compromises, make adjustments, and finding win-win solutions, not where he's winning and you're losing, or that you're just winning and he's losing, but how are you both winning together? What is that shared action, that shared success, and what does it look like so that he's not just losing his freedom, he's also gaining something much more valuable? He's gaining that sense of partnership. He's gaining that sense of camaraderie. And that the fact that you come together, now you can create something much bigger and much better than what he can choose on his own. Just again, like the Bible says, man is not meant to be alone. Now, a great example of this is when me and my wife got married, we actually said to each other, with this ring, I set you free. And what that meant is we are actually releasing each other within the relationship to be our best selves, to be fully who we are, and acknowledging that reality that just because we're getting married, it doesn't mean that we have to sacrifice anything that we can't gain more of. That we become better, we become bigger, we have a better life because of us coming together. Not that we have to lose our sense of freedom, which was a big fear of mine. But the fact that we were able to acknowledge and that she actually acknowledged that as well for me, that we become free being in the relationship, it built a lot of trust, it built a lot of safety going into that. At the end of the day, understand we're all learning and growing. Give yourself grace in this process, but also give yourself standards.
