A short relationship-advice monologue arguing that men often secretly crave appreciation more than sex. The speaker distinguishes appreciation from respect and admiration, defining it as explicitly telling a partner how he makes you feel (happy, safe, confident, grateful, relaxed). The advice: name the emotions he evokes and praise the traits that create those feelings so he feels valued and motivated to continue positive behaviors.

Men secretly long for this way more than sex. Appreciation. Now, this is related to respect and admiration. But appreciation is letting him know how he makes you feel. So it's the impact that a man has on you. It's actually different than respect and admiration from that place. It's letting him know how he is making a difference in your life, specifically primarily through your feelings, through your emotions. How does he make you feel? Does he make you feel good? Does he. Does he make you feel happy? Does he make you feel grateful? Does he make you feel safe, comfortable, relaxed, confident? So letting him know those emotions that he brings up within you is a great way to share your appreciation with him and thank him for those things that he has done for you, those things that he has done for you in the past that he's doing for you now. And you could also appreciate him for the man he is. The traits about him that actually do make you feel good, make you feel happy, make you feel safe. Letting him know about those things is a great step forward. To allow him to feel valued in the relationship, to allow him to feel like he has a path to win, that he can make you happy, and he's going to want to do more and more of those things for you.
