A coach explains why women should trust men's capabilities instead of micromanaging. She uses a driving metaphor: constantly criticizing a partner's directions or speed from the passenger seat signals you don't trust him to get you where you need to go.

The fifth thing that women do that guys love is to allow him to be the expert and trust in his capabilities. Similar to not being his coach. This principle is about allowing him to figure out problems on his own, to allow him to find the capabilities within himself, within his mind, within his sphere of influence to solve the problem. And this is trusting in his capabilities, trusting that he can make it happen. Similar to an analogy of driving. If you ever have driven with a man, are you the type of person that sits in the side of the car and is constantly telling him what to do, how he needs to drive, where he should turn, that he can't make this exit, that he's going too fast or going too slow? That is you visibly and demonstratively not trusting in his capabilities as a man. And this is again, just another metaphor for your whole relationship with him. Are you trusting him to drive you safely, to get you to where you need to go? Or if you really can't trust him because you're like, well, he's just a horrible, horrible driver, quote, unquote. He's a horrible man. He's not capable.
