In this Expo2020 Dubai Spanish Pavilion presentation, Antonio Vázquez, co‑founder of Adenx Space (also referred to as Alen Space), outlines the company’s origins, capabilities, and market positioning. He explains that Adenx Space is a University of Bilbao spin‑off founded in 2019 that built Spain’s first nanosatellite in 2012 and has since achieved a 100 % mission success rate across all payloads. The team of about 25 engineers and business staff offers a full‑stack nanosatellite service—from design, integration, manufacturing, launch management to operations—focused on communications, data handling, and tracking (ADS‑B, AIS, IoT) as well as spectrum monitoring. Vázquez highlights the strategic advantages of nanosatellites and constellations: lower cost, faster development, resilience, and upgradability compared to traditional large satellites. He cites a global footprint with projects in ten countries, roughly twenty active projects, collaborations with three space agencies (including ESA and the Indonesian Space Agency), training and technology‑transfer activities, and an upcoming launch for a Brazilian customer. The pitch concludes with a forward‑looking vision toward larger constellations, 5G, signal‑intelligence applications, and expanded commercial partnerships.

This works? Yeah. Hi everyone, thanks for, for being here. Thanks for the technicians and to all the directors, and thanks all of you to spend your time being here and not visiting, uh, this amazing expo. So let's start. Um, we are Adenx Space and my name is Antonio Vázquez. I am one of the co-founders and we design, manufacture, and operate nanosatellites to put our client business into orbit. We are the enablers of the game changers of the space era. So, uh, we have a long trajectory. We are a spin-off of the University of Bilbao. We made the first nanosatellite in history of Spain, launched in 2012. And since that, you can see some of the projects that we have launched into space, some of them still operative, like This one is Lumi One, and this is like a view of the of our projects that we have been working on all these years. So we made a company that has the hundred percent successful missions right now. Let's finger cross. Hundred percent of payloads in all their missions successfully now operative. And for many years, the next lot. For many years, we have been working on this on this sector. So we are a team of 25 people right now. This is not updated, and it's a mix between technicians and minds and business comments. But let's talk about nanosatellites and what is that? So the global economy has global needs from communications to infrastructure, remote management, or airplane tracking, ship tracking. And up to now, all these applications were only possible through conventional satellites. Conventional satellites, as you know, are big, are huge developments. They have a huge cost and long development times. Nanosatellites change the game. Nanosatellites are small, are affordable, and overall are fast to market. So you can develop your mission in a fraction of the time that traditionally you have been working on. More than that, the nanosatellites change the way we go to space. When usually we used to have one single satellite in charge of the whole services, now we have a constellation of nanosatellites working together with the same goal. So that allows us to improve the resilience and upgrade continuously the technology and the service you are providing. So even if some of your satellites falls or have any problem, you're still in the market You have still your communication satellites operative, you have still your service or your defense information. In addition, it allows for recurrency in the update of the technology, since you can continuously upgrade your constellation with new launches. And so, how do we work? We work from the design to the service delivery. Design, integration, manufacturing, launch management and operations, the whole process under one roof. We also have our technology for— we are mainly focused on communications, data handling, and all the tracking assets and spectrum monitoring for the system. So we have here some of our products and payloads that we have for the missions. So for example, ADS-B for airplane tracking or AIS for ship tracking, IoT. Also we have onboard computers and route segment. So we have the full process in-house. This is an example. For example, if you choose IoT, or even we can mix IoT with AIS or ADS-B, you choose the payload, we integrate it in our predefined platform, do the management of all that, launch, frequency regulations, and operate the satellites for you if you want. And you just get your data and focus on your business. So, so far we have Works in ten countries. We have ongoing like around twenty projects, working with three space agencies in a variety of projects from new testing methodology for the European Space Agency or providing communication system and payloads for the Indonesian Space Agency. We also give trainings and give technology transfer to to other projects. The satellite we will our next launch will be to Brazil. It's a Brazilian satellite made by us. So So it's a global company that is working on, on being a global market. So we start as a spin-off of university and we start as a company in 2019. And at the beginning we have just some subsystems and some technology. From that we are really focused on being efficient in, in the investment and high-tech and focus to the market on the developments. So we increase our product line as you can see, and in the future we I'm going to keep working in the communication lab. I'm going to bigger banks like EA or K, or working on also 5G and signal intelligence applications. Oh, this is my, uh, some contact points.
