005: How to raise your vibes
15 Oct 2021 · 23 min
Mart Tweedy explains how to raise your vibration through thoughts and emotions, which he says have measurable frequencies. He recommends gratitude, breathwork, meditation, and specific sound frequencies like 40 Hz for memory and 285 Hz for tissue repair, plus sensory-deprivation tanks for deep meditation.

Wayfair, every style, every home. Hello everyone, thank you so much for joining me once again. I'm Mart, and this is Cani Crystals, the podcast. So before I get started, this is the third time I've just actually recorded this podcast. The first time, the first time, my microphone wasn't plugged in, so it was recording on my MacBook, but my MacBook was quite far away, so when I got to the end and realized that it wasn't plugged in, you could barely hear me. I tried turning the volume up. Oh my God, I've had such a nightmare. And then the second time I was midway through and my laptop died, didn't save a thing. I'm like, ugh, ugh! Anyway, I hope you're all good. I currently resemble a bit of a dropped lasagna. With being on holiday a couple of weeks ago, obviously when I got back I had to isolate for 10 days, so I never actually left the house. Now for 10 days, that's quite a lot. Like, I know everyone's had to isolate and stuff like that, and we've all had lockdowns, but I just found it so weird. Like, my partner was doing all the food shopping and taking JJ out for a walk every day. So yeah, cut to me at the gym on Sunday morning on my first day loose, going hell for leather, trying to get rid of that holiday belly. What a bad idea. I've had to be hoisted in and out of bed. I can't walk down the stairs, and I'm currently having to lower myself onto the toilet every day. My poor legs, honestly. I've also been making a start on those infamous crystal advent calendars as well. So my house is like a bit of a Chinese sweatshop at the moment. There are boxes everywhere, there's packaging everywhere, crystals all over the table. So yeah, I've also yesterday just released the final batch as well. So if you want to try snapping one up and you haven't already, head to the website cannycrystals.co.uk— the link is in the show notes— and scroll down the home page and you'll see them there at the bottom. Now, these are extremely limited edition. There are only 50 of them being made in total, and at this moment in time of me recording, there are only 15 left. Okay, so be quick. I know last week I mentioned that I'd put 30 on initially and all 30 went within 12 hours, so I don't expect them to be there for long. But I'm going to start sending them out next week as well. So next week, expect me to start the podcast whinging about my bad back. But anyway, let's get cracking with this week's show for the third time. So I'm going to talk about how you can use the knowledge of everything in the universe being energy to help you manifest, as well as discussing different frequencies of energy, how to raise your vibration, and the experience of flotation. So back in the first episode, I mentioned about a book that I'd read called The Secret, and I know a lot of you said straight away, "Oh yeah, I've read that as well." But this is a very basic introduction to how everything is made up of energy and how your thoughts align with that energy. And I mean, since reading that, I've come across loads of different ones, and I've done loads more research on it all, and it does all totally make sense. I've I recently bought a book called E² by Pam Grout, a recommendation of a friend, and that's like 9 energy-filled experiments for you to do at home. And it's just little things like, uh, trying to manifest a green car, for example. You barely ever see a green car, but when you start doing these exercises, you'll see green cars everywhere. It's crazy what your mind can do. Obviously, if you want to go a lot deeper, you can read books on quantum physics and things like that, anything to do with energy in the universe, really. So back in the olden days, Einstein once famously said, "Everything is energy, and that's all there is to it. Match the frequency of the reality that you want, and you cannot help but get that reality. It can be no other way. This is not philosophy, this is physics." I mean, Einstein was clearly onto something back then, and he's one of the most greatest physicists of all time, so Who are we to argue with Albert Einstein? What exactly did he mean when he said everything is energy? Let's examine this in a bit more detail. Frequency first. Our energetic frequency is naturally joyful, playful, and happy, but we rarely hook into that state because we let our habitual way of thinking about things drive our natural frequencies down. So we end up getting stuck at lower levels of energy, and we just continue plodding along. We need to start work on changing that. So for example, smile more, be nicer to other people, just learn to breathe and accept things. Stop beating yourself up. Just relax, laugh, and enjoy life. Every time you want to obsess for hours over something that you did or didn't do, what if you just chose to let it go instead? Acts like these immediately change our frequency. They move us from that energy of resistance and fear and worry to a one of trust and acceptance and love. So when Einstein's talking about matching the frequency, he means that everything we desire has a frequency set point. We don't think about it in those terms, but all beings, so all things in the universe, vibrate at a certain level. Take you, for example. You do on a daily basis. Sometimes you might get angry and sometimes you might feel bored. These rates are quite different from when you're ecstatic or when you're in joy. So science has also shown that feelings move through our body and are released within 90 seconds. So when something happens to us that triggers us, that initial spark of emotion is over and gone with a minute or two. So we need to actually learn to feel it and then dump it, because instead, as humans— I mean, I do this as well, but we can hold on to it for days in our heads. We'll call up our friends and complain. We'll bitch to our parents, and then we get upset because of something completely unrelated, and then that sets us off again about something that happened a week, a month, or a year ago, and we get stuck in patterns of thought about something and then regenerate that negative association with it. This is the kind of frequency that we want to work on changing. And it is possible. Yes, it requires some awareness and a bit of work so that you don't get swallowed down the rabbit hole, but with patience and persistence, you will get better at it. So as I spoke about last week, using techniques like mindfulness and meditation, you can calm your mind quickly and easily. Work on the frequency first and think about how things slowly start to shift in relation to your relationships, opportunities, conversations, possibilities, your actual life itself. You'll sharply start to realize that you do have a say in your own life. So when you start to manage your own frequency, you'll stop expecting it to be fulfilled by others, and you'll learn that you create your own happiness. Nobody else, you. And that in itself becomes a more liberating frequency. You can then let go of all expectations and demands from anyone else. The only thing making you unhappy are your own thoughts. If you learn to change them, when you do, you'll see that your frequency and your world will change too. So sticking with that thought of everything being energy, energy is obviously made up of vibrating atoms and molecules. Yes, we're back to year 8 science. So you are a living energy field, okay? Your body is composed of energy-producing particles. And they're all in constant motion. So like everything and everyone else in the universe, you are vibrating and creating energy. If you stuck a microscope on your skin and you zoomed in far enough— I don't know how far because I'm not a scientist— but if you zoomed in far enough, you would begin to see your skin as if it was moving. That movement is you and your body creating that energy. Now, research has shown for a long time that our thoughts and behaviors affect the rhythm in your body. For example, anxious thoughts trigger the release of the stress hormones that stimulate your heart rate to speed up or slow down. And the sound vibrations of music, for example, affect your thoughts and emotions. Vibrational energy experts think that our behavior and thoughts can also alter much smaller rhythms. Vibrational energy experts have also suggested many ways to elevate vibrations in your body and your life. So for example, let's take breathwork. Rhythmic deep breathing is a great way to realign your vibrational energy. Research has shown that slow controlled breathing can calm your heart rate and stimulate the areas of your brain that influence relaxation, emotional well-being, and calmness. Now you know as well as I do, if you've had an argument with someone, just going off to the corner of the room, taking a couple of deep breaths in and out through your nose, you feel a hell of a lot better than you did 5 minutes ago. Research has also shown that meditation can change your blood pressure, reduce your pain sensitivity, uh, it can affect your mood, and it's also thought that vibrational energy could help with the symptoms of things like insomnia, anxiety, and depression. So taking time to notice and appreciate what is good in your life is often recommended as a way to raise your vibration. I know I discussed in episode 1 about gratitude, for example, but gratitude is intentional and regularly expressing of gratitude that can enhance your well-being and lower your stress. Even your diet can help you to raise your vibes. Vibrational energy experts say that it's important to eat fresh foods that contain higher energy levels. So healthy foods can increase your vibrational energy. Healthy foods are obviously things like leafy greens, fresh fruits, herbal teas, that kind of thing. But if you think about it, for example, the food that you would get from a fast food chain, say for example McDonald's, all that food is going to be of a very, very low frequency level, and that in turn is going to make you feel sluggish and almost addicted, wanting more, and you just won't feel great because that food has such a low frequency. And one of the other things they suggest is just by being outdoors, so to to raise or reset your vibrational energy, to get out into nature as often as you can. Exposure to natural sound waves and light waves and green spaces are all believed to benefit you. So just going for a walk outdoors has been proven to lower stress, to lower blood pressure, to reduce fatigue, reduce cortisol levels, and it could even lower your risk of cardiovascular and respiratory disease. But we already know that, don't we? So going back to frequencies, if you think about some of the frequencies that we know exist, but you just can't see them with the naked eye, such as, let's take infrared for example. You'll point your remote at your TV, you can press a button, the infrared travels through the air, and it changes the channel. So it's definitely worked. You don't see it going through the air though, but the molecules in the air would move out of the way to allow the infrared beam to travel from the remote to the TV. You don't see that with your eyes, but you trust and know that it happens. So take the internet or your mobile phone, for example. It used to be wired in the olden days. I say the olden days, I'm talking like 20 years ago when I was younger. I'm not talking about like the 1600s, for example. But yeah, it all used to be wired and all information off the internet would be sent to your device via an Ethernet cable or a modem, and your house phone would get your calls through, through a wire. Now everything can be done on your mobile. You can open up a website on your phone. You can get text messages, take calls, take video calls, send emails, and this all travels through the air without you seeing any of it with your naked eye. If you can get into this mindset and know that these things are on a frequency that we can't detect, surely you can understand that your thoughts are of a similar frequency. You'll hear your thoughts in your head daily. Nobody else hears them, but does that mean that they only exist inside your head? No, of course not. Your thoughts are flying out into the universe. You just can't see them. Frequencies are magnetic. Whatever frequency those thoughts are that you're putting out, they're what you're going to magnetize like-minded things to. Now, there are thousands of videos on YouTube, even playlists on streaming services like Spotify, for example, of different frequencies You want to get your backyard summer ready, but you don't want to break the bank?

Wayfair, every style, every home. That can align you to the different frequency tones. So for an example, a sound that's played at 40 Hz has been used in Alzheimer's therapy studies to stimulate an increased neural response and fight symptoms of dementia. It's also been linked to gamma brain waves and the stimulation of memory. Another example is that sound that's played at 285 Hz is considered instrumental in the healing of cuts, burns, and other wounds across the body. The 285 Hz sound frequencies are supposed to activate the body into cellular regeneration, encouraging it to heal itself in the event of an injury. Now, this isn't just me spouting shit, okay? This is literal science, and if you want to do some research, Hospital radio in the early 1900s used to play the 285 Hz sound frequency over the top of music to help patients recover quicker. I'm full of useless facts. If a simple sound played at a little frequency like that can have that effect on the human body and the brain, then what else is possible? When I'm sat packing orders or relaxing in the bath, even doing the housework, I'll pop on a frequency that'll benefit me in some way. In a similar way to what I spoke about in the last episode about the binaural beats or the affirmations, I'll just pop me headphones in and it blends into the background, but it's still stimulating my mind. And there are frequencies to help you for any situation, to open your mind and body to happiness, for love, abundance, luck, releasing fear or negativity. The potential is limitless. Just like a lie detector can detect frequencies in the body, your body produces certain frequencies when it feels different things. So for example, positive feelings all give off a frequency of around 400 Hz, and that's things like gratitude, kindness. And then moving up to 500 Hz, you've got things like love, compassion, and joy. And then at 600 Hz, you've got peace and contentment. And ultimately at the top, you've got around 700 Hz and above, which is when you achieve pure enlightenment. So when you compare that to negative feelings, the frequencies are markedly different. So everything positive was 400 Hz upwards. Everything negative is under 5 Hz. So whether that be pain, fear, irritation, pride, jealousy, by feeling these feelings, you're emitting such a low frequency. And some people refer to others like this as mood hoovers or energy vampires, for example. And that's exactly what they're doing to you by you being around them. They're lowering your frequency. So if you surround yourself with high frequency feelings and people that emit high frequency thoughts, you'll attract better things in your life. So next time you try to manifest, whack a frequency on YouTube while you're meditating or visualizing, and I promise you it'll boost your manifestation power so much. There are also various other things that you can use if you want to hear that frequency. So for example, Let's take Tibetan singing bowls. You would put one in the palm of your hand and it's just resting on a little cushion, and you have like a beaten gong, and you basically just rub that around the side, and the frequency that that bowl then emits would reach a certain chakra, whichever one it's aligned to, whichever frequency it is, and it would start to heal and repair that. So if it's on the heart frequency, for example, it would send out a repairing noise that would repair your heart and your self-esteem and your love and your compassion, things like that. If you think about monks, for example, monks used to sit there and chant, and they would do that chant, you know, the one I'm on about, like where they would go, "Om." That "Om" would be at a certain frequency. So if they were trying to reach enlightenment, they would "Om" at a certain frequency. Or you might have seen tuning forks, for example. Some people like to just hit a tuning fork and let that sound and that frequency and that vibration rush across their body and repair them. You will have seen sound therapy and frequencies at some point in your life, but just not known what it was. But yeah, try it, see what you think. You might not like it. If you don't like it, you don't have to listen to it. Some people find them really annoying. I know whenever I hit my, um, Crystal Singing Bowl, my partner just rolls his eyes and he says it hurts his head and it goes through him and things like that. But it really, really helps me. So it's just whatever you like and whatever you prefer, really. But give it a try, see if you like it. Now, someone reached out to me earlier in the week and said, "How do you raise your vibrational energy, and what do you do in your spare time to help your own mental health?" And I thought this was really, really interesting because I was already going on about how to raise your vibrational energy through frequencies and things. So I thought, okay, let's speak for 5 minutes about something that I do to raise my own mental health. Now, I know people, um, sometimes go for like massages and things like that, massages aren't really me. I don't really like getting me kit off in public, and I'm not too keen about having a stranger like rubbing us up and down and trying to obviously make that awkward conversation. I mean, don't get us wrong, when I'm aching off the gym like I am at the minute, I usually book in with Josie Baxter, who is one of my PTs, and she gives an amazing sports massage. And I don't mind that because I get on really well with Josie. There's no awkward conversation, it's all just banter and crack, and it's just pretty much a catch-up session for an hour while she's like massaging all the pain out me body. But that said, one of the things I wanted to talk about today, what I do enjoy, is flotation. And this is something that I've recently really got into, and it helps me to meditate like nothing else. So if you're a '90s kid like me, you've probably seen that episode of The Simpsons where Lisa and Homer go to these sensory deprivation tanks— and for years I thought that's all it was. I thought it was an episode of The Simpsons. I'd say it was about 2 years ago I saw an advert pop up on Facebook for a new flotation wellness centre in Hebburn in Gateshead. So I did a bit of digging into the benefits of it, and I really liked what I read. Basically, you lie in— it's kind of like a big plastic pod, but it's filled with water for the session duration, which is usually about an hour. But anyway, the water comes up, I'd say, like mid-shin, so it's not very deep. But if you lie down in it, it's filled with Epsom salts, so you would actually float in it because of the high Epsom salt content in the water. Uh, it's also known as sensory deprivation because you're literally depriving your senses, okay? So when you get inside the pod, you've got full control of whether you have the lid open or whether you close the lid. Obviously, for the best effect, you would close the lid. Then once you're inside, you've got a light, so you can turn your light off if you want. At the most basic level, a blindfold or earplugs are a form of sensory deprivation, but in a float tank, sights and sounds are totally removed. The air and the water are also heated to skin temperature, and it becomes impossible to know where your skin ends and where the water begins, basically. And of course, you're floating, which creates the perfect conditions for removing all external stimulants. Your vision's restricted in the pitch black, and you can hear nothing but your own body. You're completely floating in the Epsom salt water, and this therefore leads to a feeling of zero gravity with no real concept of up, down, time, or space. And it's such an odd sensation, but when you close off those 3 senses, it's amazing what you can do with your mind. The first time I did it, I lowered myself into the tank and I lay there with the lights on for about 5 minutes just to get us used to it. And after that, I thought I'd be brave, so I turned the light off. There I am, totally naked, lay inside an enclosed pod in warm water, floating. And I thought, "This is the perfect opportunity to start meditating." So I started meditating. Because I had no distractions from my senses, it was so easy to visualize. It was so easy to calm my mind. It was the perfect condition to try and meditate for manifesting, for example. Now at one point I did freak myself out because I opened my eyes, but because I was still in the pitch black, I couldn't see a thing. I literally sat upright and I started touching my body to make sure I wasn't dead. I even said my name out loud just to make sure that my voice was working and I wasn't actually dead. It's such a surreal feeling. The one that I go to is about £30 for an hour session, and they have a lovely shower and room for you to get changed in afterwards, and they provide all the towels and your toiletries. But it's so nice, and the feeling I get afterwards is the same feeling that I would get after a massage. I've started to almost have out-of-body experiences when I go. Because of how isolated the experience is, my mind goes 100 miles an hour, and I start to think of creative things that I could be doing for Canny Crystals, for example, or even start being talked to almost by the voices in my head. So it's so surreal, and until you try it yourself, it's so hard for me to explain what I mean. The mind is truly an amazing thing. So to whoever it was that asked us how I switch off and how I look after me mental health, that's one of the ways. And if you can try it and there's some flotation tanks in your area, I'd advise you to go and try it as well. Have you tried it before? Let me know in my DMs. You can reach me @cannycrystal on TikTok and Instagram, or you can even visit my personal, which is @marttweedie. All links are in the show notes. And please, if you haven't done already, don't forget to rate, review, and subscribe to this podcast and tell all your friends about it. I've had some amazing reviews so far, so thank you so much for everyone who's reviewed. I see them all, they all make us cry, so thank you so much. And don't forget to visit my website, cannycrystals.co.uk, and make sure if you're wanting one of those advent calendars that you snap one up quickly. And I'll see you all next week.
