Acast helps creators launch, grow, and monetize their podcasts everywhere. Acast.com. Hello everyone and welcome back to another episode of Canny Crystals the podcast. I hope that you're all well. My name is Mart Tweedy and this week I finally finished my new book. Get excited because it's going to be coming out in January, right? But there's still so much for me to do before then. So this week I finished the manuscript, but then I had to do a full read-through last weekend. So I had to write the dedication, I had to get someone to write the foreword, um, I had to write the acknowledgments and the references to other books that I speak about in mine. And then it's to go to my editor Chloe, who will check it all over. Then I have to record the Audible version. Then I've got to create a website for all the free downloadable resources throughout the book that I speak about. And then I need to create all of those resources. So there's like a free meditation, a free subliminal, a free feng shui map in your home activity. So there is still so much to do in the next 4 months, and that's why I just can't put it out right now. But reading through the book, just I don't know, it just made us feel so excited to finally birth it into the world and share me story, share what I've learned over the last 5 years with you all. And I did it while I was in the bath. I just had an amazing little bubble bath, a little pamper afternoon, switched off from the world. And honestly, I'm just so, so proud of what I've written. It didn't actually feel like I was reading my own book. It felt like I was reading, I don't know, like some amazing help book. I don't know, it just felt so surreal reading my own book back. Anyway, but it got me thinking about life in general as I was reading through it, lay in the bath. And there's a general theme of the book throughout all the spiritual practices that I talk about, which is kind of a story about life and all of its wonders and all of its challenges. So basically, it's a story about what's likely coming your way. It's a story about understanding that immense and limitless power within you. Because when you think about it, life is a journey, and it's always going to be filled with all these twists and turns, you know, moments of joy and sorrow growth and learning. But if you don't realize that incredible potential of your own human spirit, life will then feel tough for you, or it'll feel heavy and confusing. But if you tap into that greatness within you and you start to recognize the endless possibilities within you, and even understand the power of your choices, then life can be anything that you want it to be. So it really is an open canvas waiting for you to paint that masterpiece on. So as you grow up, for example, you will find that many people around you, perhaps even those people that you love the most, like your mom, your dad, your friends, your family, whoever it is, they'll encourage you down different paths that might not actually be meant for you. And these paths, they might be safe, they might be traditional, you know, what society considers as normal in inverted commas. And many will believe that they know what is best for you. Now, they might have good intentions for you, okay, but here's a powerful truth. Nobody, and I mean this when I say it, absolutely no one knows what is best for you except for you. Not your mom, not your dad, not your teachers, not your friends, not your tutors. You know, they might offer guidance or advice, and it is important to listen with grace and respect, but remember, their words are merely opinions based on their own experiences, not your truth. Your truth comes from deep within you. So my mom always told me to buckle down at work, for example. She— oh, like, no disrespect to she was purely projecting onto me what she had been taught from her parents growing up, and that the only way to make a living for yourself in life was to work a normal 9-to-5 until your mid-60s. But thinking about it, like, who wants that life? Who truly wants that for themselves or their children? Like, if I said to you, "Here's a magic wand, you've got one wish," who would truly say, "Oh, I just want to work 9-to-5, 5 days a week until I'm mid-60s, and then spend the last third of me life actually living?" Who would actually wish for that? Not one single fucking person. Or would you prefer to start living today? That's what my book is all about. So I was talking to my friend Nikki about this a couple of weeks ago, and she had said, like, but how do you know your truth? And I said, well, you just feel it. It comes from your heart. It comes from that place beyond logic and reason. You know, that feeling, that inner voice, that's called your intuition. And your intuition is such a sacred guide that always knows what's right for you. But to hear it clearly, you might need to get still, you might need to get quiet, because the world is always filled with noise like opinions, expectations, distractions, and that can all drown out that inner voice. So I want you to take some time regularly just to be alone and just to be still, to breathe, to listen, because in those moments you'll hear the answers that you want. You will feel what is right for you. And this is exactly what I did last weekend. So after Happy Place wiped me out the week before, I then had a friend's book launch to attend, and then I even went to an Alzheimer's charity day last Friday. And then come Saturday morning, I just felt wiped out and exhausted. And I was trying to fit in my usual working week with those 2 and a half days out of the office, so to speak, and it just absolutely drained us. I had friends texting us saying, is everything all right? You haven't been in touch. Or what are you doing this weekend? And I was like, please just leave me alone, I'm sleeping, that's what I'm doing. It's okay to drown out that noise every now and again with some quiet time, you know. Sometimes you just need that time to yourself to figure out what's actually going on, what route you want to take, what's next on your plate, you know what I mean? It is hard, but you've just got to push all that to one side, push all the distractions, all the opinions, all the chatter and everything to one side, and just be with yourself for a little bit and just breathe, breathe it out. Some people might even go so far as to tell you that it's selfish to follow your path as well, to do what's best for you. And I've been told this so many times by people that I don't even know in the last 3 years especially. Someone even had the audacity to say that I was selfish for leaving the NHS, and when I asked why, they said, well, they're at a crumbling point and they're crying out for staff. And that guilt really hit me hard. But here's something that you've got to understand: doing what is best for you is never selfish. In fact, it's probably the most selfless act because When you honor your truth, when you follow the path that's meant for you, you bring your best self to the world. You then inspire others to do the same. So you shine your light, and in doing so, you light the way for other people. And if you try to please everyone, you'll end up pleasing no one, not even yourself. So I just want you to always be yourself without exception, okay? Because it's quite heartbreaking to see so many people living the lives that they don't love. Now, when I think about this, I'm thinking of my mom, my nana, my granddad, my aunties, my uncles, my cousins, every single one of them lives a life that they don't love. They do jobs just to go on living. And if you've heard of Alan Watts, for example, he has a quote all about this where he's like, you know, do what makes your heart sing, because otherwise you're just going to go on making a living doing what you don't like to carry on doing exactly more of what you don't like doing. And the only reason that them people are doing that is because they followed others who were doing exactly the same. They followed their parents or their siblings or their aunties and uncles, their family, their friends. The only way to find real happiness in life, the only way to be truly successful even, is to be authentically you. Let me say that again as well because it might be the most important lesson that you can apply to your life. The only path to true happiness and success is being yourself. You'll never find genuine joy if you're always doing things to please other people. You know, you'll be competing with other people or you'll be mimicking someone else. You are one of a kind. That uniqueness is probably your greatest strength, okay? So when you follow your own path, even if it doesn't fit the mold that others want or expect, you then create that space for wonderful things to enter into your life. So don't compare yourself to anyone else. Don't compete with anyone, you know. Make your own decisions. Trust your journey. Just live as your true self, because that's where your power lies. So when you go to school or out into the world, for example, like, let's take it back a few years, especially for me, I'm taking it back 21 years because I'm 37 now and I'm old AF. But I was always told, you know, follow the safest path because that's the best path. So get a secure job, follow the crowd, don't take risks. But I encourage you to think beyond this. You know, true success doesn't come from following someone else's script. It comes from writing your own. So learn all you can, grow all you can, and just remember that it's not about your education or qualifications on paper. Because those things are just symbols. What truly matters is your willpower, your determination, and your heart. A piece of paper can never ever determine your destiny. Only you can. I didn't get the best grades at school. I didn't even go to university or anything like that, but I did not let that determine how I turned out. I didn't let it determine my destiny because only you can do that. So choose what is right for you, even if it is the harder path. Because often the easiest choice often leads to a more difficult life, whilst the harder, more courageous choices lead to a more fulfilling life. So I think in the last few months while I've been writing this book, it's made me understand that the greatest gift that we possess, it's not money or anything of material value. The most valuable gift is the knowledge that you control your thoughts, your actions, and your reactions. So every motivational speech that I'd listen to while I was discovering manifestation and spirituality, they'd always say things along lines of, you know, "You are a powerful creator," and I used to think, "My God, that is so fucking cheesy," but it's true. There are no limits to what you can achieve if you truly believe in your potential. So I want you to feel that truth with every single fiber of your being. The people who achieve great things in the world aren't necessarily the smartest or the luckiest or anything like that. They are just the people who believe deeply that they can do it. And so can you because it's all just about belief. So to make your dreams come true, yeah, you'll probably have to work hard. You'll need to persist through challenges, you'll need to rise after failures, and you'll have to keep going when things get tough because life will test you and it will push you, and at times it might even break you down as well. But understand this: there are no real mistakes in life because every single setback is a setup for a comeback. Every single failure is a lesson, you know. People are generally good, and even those who seem to act in harmful ways, they're often just reflecting their own pain, their own confusion. So just have compassion for other people and for yourself, because every single person on this planet is on their own journey of growth, and you're blessed beyond measure. So if we think about gratitude for an example, like, one of the greatest powers on earth is the power of gratitude. If you can wake up every single day with a thankful heart, You will then attract more things to be grateful for because gratitude is the key that unlocks that abundance. So be grateful not only for the good times but also for the challenges because you'll find that they're the greatest teachers. And don't forget that working on yourself is just as important, if not more so, than working on your career, your finances, or even your physical health. So there's two things: there's self-development and gratitude, because a strong mind and an unbreakable spirit are probably going to be your greatest assets. So when you cultivate that inner strength, nothing in the external world can defeat you. And sometimes, you know, life won't seem fair. Things will happen that defy logic or fairness. But even when things seem at their darkest, there is always light to be found, because every single day is a new opportunity to create those miracles and to create that magic, to spread love, to bring joy to everyone around you. So I want you to start and see life being a bit like a movie, and you're the director, for example. So you hold the pen, you write the script, you decide how your story unfolds. You're not defined by what happens to you, but by how you respond to what actually happens. And in the moments that test you the most, you have the greatest opportunity to grow there. There's a great saying that I often say to myself aloud in times of stress and struggle, and it's, um, "Stay strong, this too shall pass." Denise Duffield-Thomas used to say it all the time in the live calls, and I just thought, that is such a good saying. Stay strong, this too shall pass. So every moment, no matter how difficult, it's fleeting. Yeah, every single moment is fleeting, and every challenge is a chance to grow or to become better, to become stronger. There'll always be things that you don't want to see or hear, you know, like negativity, fear, doubt. So just be careful about what you let into your mind and soul. So to turn off that noise that doesn't serve you and instead read some books or listen to a podcast or learn from those who have walked paths of wisdom and grow yourself every single day. Something else that I was thinking about as I was writing the book is that life is short. Now, this might sound a bit morbid, and yes, it's a cliché, but it's also so true, okay? Even a life filled to the fullest goes by in the blink of an eye. None of us are guaranteed any time on Earth, and that's not something to fear. I don't want you going away listening to this podcast thinking, "Oh my God, Mark told me I'm going to die this weekend." I just want you to be aware that it's something to embrace, okay? Knowing that life could end at any moment is all the reason that you need to start living fully right now. So I want you to go after what you truly desire without hesitation. Don't hold back in doing what lights you up. Or something that sets your soul on fire, you know, never hold back from telling those people that you love exactly how you feel because you don't know how long we've got with each other, yeah. I don't want you to have any regrets in life. Like, mistakes are fine because they're how we learn, they're how we grow, you know. Failures are fine because they teach us resilience, but regrets are really heavy. They come from holding back, from not following your heart. So if your heart pulls you somewhere I just want you to go there fully this weekend, live every moment with intention, and just give your best. Don't do anything half-heartedly. So if you're in, be all in with all your soul. I've had so many regrets in my life over the last 37 years, and, you know, I often sit and wonder, like, what would have happened if I'd have done this differently, or if I'd have done that in this way instead? And I know that we'll never ever know, but all in all, it's the route that's brought me to where I am today recording this podcast. So, you know, they're not always bad. You know, regrets, yeah, you can ponder on them, you can sit on them, but they're not always bad. And because life is short, I just want you to also remember to be kind to other people, because every single person on this planet is fighting their own battles, some visible, many invisible. Your kindness could be the light that makes a huge difference in someone's life. So choose kindness over being right, you know. I can't remember what book this is from, but I remember reading a book, it was either last year or the year before, I know that's not very helpful to you, but it was either last year or the year before, and in it it said something like, "Remember that people won't remember the car you drove or the money you made, but they will always remember how you made them feel." And I've always remembered that quote. I can't for my life remember what book it was from. I'll find out anyway. But there is a Beyoncé song as well that I almost feel like I was about to break into there. And I won't because my singing is atrocious, as you know if you've listened to past episodes, um, but have a listen to the lyrics in Beyoncé's song that is called "I Was Here" because the message is pretty much the same as what I've just mentioned. So rather than living in fear of the unknown, just embrace the truth that life is short and unpredictable because with that understanding, we can choose to live fully every single day. Now, this doesn't mean acting recklessly It just means pouring your very best into every single day. So every day when you get up and get out of bed, it's just giving it your all. It means like giving your highest energy to your work or your family and every single person that you meet through the day and being present, you know, make today count because you just never know if it's your last. Imagine if the people in your life couldn't speak to you tomorrow. Imagine if you weren't here tomorrow, like what would they say about you? What positive memories would you leave behind in their hearts? This is about being light-hearted and understanding that in the grand scheme of things, all that material stuff doesn't matter. The only things that truly matter are how you made other people feel and how you felt in your own heart. None of these material things in this world will follow you after this life. Your spirit, the love you give, the impact you leave, that's what will continue on. So keeping in mind that we're all going to leave this world is perhaps the greatest reminder of all. I know it's, it's morbid, like I say, but it's the greatest reminder of all. We're not eternal beings, and that's what helps me stay focused on what is truly important, you know, which for me I see as love, kindness, connection, authenticity. So just kind of give your 100% to this moment. Don't stress about what was or worry about what will be. And finally, I just want to share the most powerful secret of life, which is to just be happy now. And a few of my episodes lately have been around happiness, and it's because I just feel that my life has changed a lot in the last few months, especially. Like, if you've listened to past episodes, you know I am now with child. Not inside my tummy, he's actually real and he's upstairs in his cot, but it is It's just a different type of happiness that I have now. And since finding this happiness, it's kind of like I have a new lease of life and I'm seeing things through a different perspective, if that makes sense. So I just want you to be happy now. You don't need more things, more money, more success to be happy. Happiness is a choice and it comes from within. So do what makes you happy. Spend time with people who bring you joy. You know, focus on what fills your heart because life will bring you more reasons to be happy when you do that. So if you love life, it will love you back. Now, as I was recording this episode, I stopped and I went out for a dog walk, and while I was out, I just cleared my mind by doing a little bit of mindful walking. So I was noticing the trees, the breeze on me skin, the sound of the pushchair against the ground, the little smile on me boy's face as he was looking back at us. And it just made me think that there is truly nothing that you cannot be, do, or have in the world. If even one person on this planet has accomplished what you want before, then that means that you can do it as well. It doesn't guarantee that it will be easy, but it does mean that it's possible. And as long as something is possible, you can work towards it. You can set a goal, you can create a plan, you can figure out what steps need to be taken for you to live your wildest, most abundant life. That's the kind of life that most people might think is impossible, but even that word impossible, when broken down, says I'm possible. That's really cheesy as fuck, I know, but I like that because it says I'm possible. It's not about some magical force, it's about having a plan, being determined, and committing to the work needed to turn your dreams into reality. So it's about believing that anything is achievable when you put your mind to it and you're willing to take action as well, or when you're willing to learn and grow every single day. So make that plan, you know, take those steps and just get on with that journey of turning the impossible into possible. Now, I do appreciate, I feel like this episode was a bit of a brain fart if I'm totally honest, because it was just me babbling and getting everything out of my headspace. But isn't that what life is sometimes? Like, it's a bit of a brain dump. It's just a way to release all the thoughts, ideas, dreams swirling around in our minds. And maybe that's, you know, that's all we need every now and again. Just a chance to let it all out, to clear the space, to breathe a little deeper, and to reset our intentions. Maybe I'm having a midlife crisis, who knows? But as I walk back home, actually, I realize just how essential it is to take these moments for ourselves. You know, moments to reflect, to dream, just to simply be. I just think it's easy to lose sight of the fact that we are already enough in life. Right here, right now. So as I wrap up this episode, I just want to encourage you this weekend to take a moment for yourself. Step outside, you know, breathe in that fresh air. Let go of any expectation or pressures. Just be you if you can, and you're not working, you know, just be you. Life isn't about how much you do, it's about how much love you put into what you do. So it's about finding joy in the small moments, or just being grateful for what you have, just believing in that limitless potential that lies within you. Because when we do that, we attract more of it. And because of the Law of Attraction, it'll be like, okay, you love that, you want some more, here we go. And it serves it up to you on a plate. Okay, so if you want your dream life, just be grateful for what you have and believe in that potential that lies inside of you right now. So keep dreaming, Keep growing, keep shining, because the world needs more people who are brave enough to live their truths or to follow their hearts and to spread light wherever they go. And with that, I'll just leave you to think about this, okay? And this was something that I wrote down on my sheet this morning: what one small step can you take today to move closer to the life that you've always imagined? Whatever it is, take it, okay? Don't wait. Your future self will thank you for it. Because you truly are limitless. So thank you so much for tuning in today. Like I said, it was a bit of a weird episode, wasn't it? I just kind of went off on a tangent. Um, but thank you for being a part of this journey with us anyway. Keep believing in yourself, keep trusting your path, because you're more powerful than you know. And that's the message that I was trying to get across to you, okay? So I hope this episode helped you in some way. I hope that when I release my book in January that you'll buy a copy and that you'll love it just as much as I did writing it for you. Don't worry, it's not a brain fart, it's actually calculated, it's actually got chapters in it, it's actually all about different spiritual techniques that have helped me in the last 5 years. Anyway, a couple of things to mention, uh, before I go is that you can still get 10% off everything over at cannycrystals.co.uk and cannycrystalsacademy.co.uk with the word podcast at checkout. And tickets for Manifest are still available. We've sold over 300 tickets so far, so Thank you to every single one of you that have bought one and are excited to come along and see the likes of myself, Francesca Amber, Kirstie Gallagher, and so many more. You can head to mani-fest.uk, or you can even click the link in the show notes for this episode to get your tickets right now. I think we now have less than— I think it's like less than 40 VIP tickets remaining. And those VIP goodie bags, by the way, they are shaping up to be worth so much with gifts from our incredible sponsors and even some of you lot as well, my amazing listeners. So I think at last check, the VIP goodie bags are worth just over £200 alone, and we ain't done yet. So grab your tickets, don't miss out on that. If you've enjoyed this episode, please click on rate or review wherever you listen to this episode. It helps me head on up the chart, as the chart position is really weird. It's all about listens and reviews left each week. And it's totally free for you to do so as well. It only takes about 10 seconds if that, but I would be so, so grateful if you could do that right now. If you're feeling super generous, you could even screenshot this and share it on your Instagram story or your TikTok story or your Facebook story. Anywhere on social media is fine. Make sure you tag me, I'm @canny_crystals. I'll reshare them all as they come through as well. But yes, I will see you all next Friday for another episode. So enjoy your weekend and I'll see you all again soon.
