This is a YouTube video titled "The Truth About Upwork: Fixed Price vs Hourly Rates" containing a monologue or talk discussing the pros and cons of using fixed price versus hourly payment models on Upwork, sharing personal experience and advice on hiring freelancers effectively. The speaker is a single individual providing insights on freelance hiring strategies.
Thinking about using upwork or you already use it now what should you do? Fixed price or per hour? Now say something costs $1,000 roughly per hour and then someone says to your fixed price I'll do it for $700. It seems really attractive because it's cheaper. But the thing about fixed price is one there's no tracking so you don't even know if they even did it because they then just go and log that same job and get someone else to do it and and pay them $100. The next thing is that person is now 100% incentivized to do everything as quick as possible and anytime you ask for anything to do extra almost always it's go away. No I can't do it. I have found after hiring hundreds and hundred people on upwork, fixed price is insane. It's better off to pay someone a fair rate per hour and actually see what they do and get them to do what you want them to do.
