In this segment of the YouTube video, two speakers discuss the pervasive reliance on Excel and paper (about 65% of restaurant managers) for HR tasks and outline a strategic shift toward AI‑enabled, voice‑first platforms. They argue that the first step is to bring users online, then layer richer insights and automation. The vision includes a conversational AI assistant that can answer compliance questions, flag payroll deadlines, detect missing punches, and enable rapid shift modifications through voice notes, allowing managers to handle HR duties on the go without a traditional desktop interface.
65% of people are coming from Excel and paper still today.
So talk to me about what you're going to create, because, you know, I always sit here and think, you know, one of the biggest macro trends that's going on today is AI.
I think AI plays a very big role in what we're building into. I think of where we are and where we want to get to. And if you just think about that stat of like 65% of people are coming from Excel and paper still today, I think that there is, there is a journey and we've got to bring people through that journey. And first bring them online and get them used to it and be able to then provide them with better insights where they can action more efficiently. But I do, I do envision a world in sort of that HR platform world where it's less of a manager sitting in front of a desk doing things. You might be on the go, you might be talking into your phone, you might be saying, are there any compliance concerns for Tuesday night? Or like, you know, when do I need to run payroll by? Are we missing any punches? And have more of like a conversational AI bot in the background that's, that's really helping you solve some of these challenges. And even as it comes to making modifications to shifts, I think of managers that I've seen leaving themselves voice notes in the restaurant for each other. That's way faster than sitting there and hitting buttons on your— on a keyboard on your phone. So how do we use things like voice, AI to sort of allow that experience to be even better, quicker, more seamless?
