Computer vision could be the missing piece for AI to reach human-level intelligence. Without it, AI systems have only text and symbols to work with. Adding visual perception lets AI observe and reason about the real world, which the speaker says will make it dramatically smarter.
AI is here and it's going to gain sentience and artificial general intelligence is coming. And I didn't see it that way because it couldn't see anything yet. It couldn't understand the physical world around it, right? It knew it was being told what it was, but it couldn't actually interact or engage. And so I think as you see, you're going to see a couple of things really start to happen. You're going to see that intelligence level really ramp up because it's now able to take into context what's happening in a live restaurant with movement. And things happening around or on the street.
