A restaurant manager accidentally wiped the entire POS program on a Tech FDS Fine Dining System 200 and panicked, overwriting the backups too. The team rebuilt it by noon because the system was simple enough to reprogram quickly. The company is now consolidating from 90 contracted platforms down to 78.

I panicked. And so when I put in the backup disks, I erased them too. Oh my God. We used a system called the Tech FDS Fine Dining System 200.
Their marketing department needed a little help there. I mean, that's a very techie name.
It was pretty basic, but that was the beauty too. Like, literally, I think the The company we bought it from probably programmed it in the beginning. But after that, I just took over and programmed it myself. It was super easy. And at the end of the night, it literally spat out the day's numbers and like 20 pages of reports. You need to have the printer with the little tabs on the side to kind of scroll through the boxes of paper you used at the end of the night. But the system was so relatively easy. I had a famous crisis one morning. You know, I was 28 when we opened the restaurant. So it was still very much the fun years. And one One night, my wife and I were out particularly late and we got a call from our manager who had opened the next day. And he said, I went into the tech to change the time and I mistakenly erased the whole POS program. And I said, well, Dave, we keep a backup down below. There's the floppy disks that you can put in and just reboot everything. And he said, yeah, that's the problem. I panicked. And so when I put in the backup disks, I erased them too. Oh my God. But I raced into the restaurant at 9:30 or so in the morning, and we were open by noon with a functioning POS. Even after that disaster, it was so relatively easy. So times have changed a little bit, but the beauty of that kind of ease of use, I think, is coming back into favor. Now, I was talking to our amazing CTO, Chris Tissay, the other day, and he said we are down to 78 different technology platforms that we're contracted with as a company.
78?
He said we're down from 90. So, that's progress. We're simplifying.
