Matt Ryder breaks down how to hit $40M revenue by working backward from sales metrics: average deal size, close rate, and call length. With $5,000 sales and a 30% close rate, the math shows a 97-hour work week. Shortening calls cuts that dramatically, making efficiency the real lever.

First things first, when you're actually like going to set a goal, whatever it is you want to make, you make $5,000 per sale. Your inbound close rate is 30. Your calls are 90 minutes long. This is the goal. This is now. And then what you can do is you can be like, I make $200K. My average sale is $4,000. And let's say my calls are 120. So then what you do, this is a real problem. This is like, that's a problem, but it's not like a crazy problem. This is like an enormous problem. All right, cool. So right now I've got to work 97 hours a week in order to achieve my goal. If I get that down to 45, it's now 45. 8 hours a week. So then what I would do is I would start to go, why are my calls long? I suck at interrupting. My pitch is boring and 20 minutes long because you're looking at calls from a specific lens now.
