Something bigger than you that's calling you down the path that is meant for your personal growth and expansion.
Welcome to the Clarity Corner, where you'll discover how to unlock and express the most authentic version of you and realize that this is exactly what you were looking for the entire time. I'm your host and your coach, Megan Siemens. Now let's make some magic happen. Hello, man. Mandy, and welcome to the Clarity Corner podcast. I'm so excited you're here.
This is super fun. I actually can't wait for this.
So just to paint everyone a picture, since this is an audio only podcast, I'm currently sitting in real life with Mandy in her beautiful Miami apartment. We are just coming off of a incredible retreat that Mandy hosted and I got to be a full on participant and I'm so thrilled that this is the alignment. We've actually had to reschedule this interview twice and the alignment of this now experiencing so much depth in your work is just amazing. And I'm so excited for all of you to experience that today because Mandy is truly incredible at what she does. Like seriously magical work.
I just got little chili bumps all over my body when you said that. Thank you. That is so kind. And as I've mentioned to you already, it was actually so special to me and so important for me to have you here. It was just very grounding and I feel like you gave me a lot of reassurance that I really needed going into the retreat this weekend. And just your openness, your vulnerability, the way you embraced the space, like all of it really, I think contributed to the depth of everyone's experience and just the way that everything unfolded and unfurled for everyone in this space. I. I always think that every single person is just such a major energetic player in those sorts of spaces. And so I'm really grateful that you were here and I'm grateful it worked out for us to have fun and do this podcast this today.
I know, it's so fun. We'll just. We're starting with a little love fest here. It's. It's good.
It probably won't be the last time.
Bring in all of the love. Well, I think, you know, coming out of your retreat, like, one thing I know for sure is the incredible safe space you create that allowed me as a participant and I know other participants there to really fully be there, like with their whole selves. And I know this is something that you're presently really passionate about around how we sometimes reject pieces of our identity. And I'd love for you to even just, like, riff on kind of what that means, because I feel like even just hearing that, like, rejecting pieces of my identity. Like, what does that even mean?
Well, I think that this isn't a new phenomenon. It's something that I think is exacerbated in different spaces, spaces that we're in. But I think we're almost always in a very unconscious state of examining the people and the spaces that we're in for safety and trying to decide and discern how much of ourselves we can safely show in those spaces. I think that's a really healthy process for us to be engaged in. But what I find happening a lot, like in the personal development world, and particularly in the world of energy, healing, energy work, is a lot of very conscious editing of ourselves and what we project online in terms of our brand. Because there is such a stigma and such a stereotype about what it means to be a spiritual person, what it means to be a healer. And there are certain things that I think society at large and that the space in general really judges and kind of rejects. And I think it really came to light for me this year as a person in that space. They weren't parts of me that I was rejecting. I was still really embracing and expressing those parts of me in other areas of my life. But, like, when I went through my online presence, when I went through how I engaged with my audience and my community, my brand, I was realizing that I wasn't showing those parts of myself because I was afraid that they would think that I wasn't a good healer. I wasn't a good space holder, I wasn't a good coach, because I had all of these other characteristics. And I just was shocked at the fact that I was doing that because it's not unsafe for me to share those things. And I actually think it is really important that I share those things because it was affecting my radiance, my magnetism. It was affecting, quite frankly, my business results. It was affecting my personal life. Like, I was feeling stagnant in my friendships. I was feeling stagnant in my dating life. There was just a lot of different areas where I was feeling kind of stuck. And I realized it was because I was really editing myself a lot and not allowing myself to be seen.
Yeah.
Can you give some, like, tangible examples of, like, some things you were maybe editing out of yourself?
Yes, absolutely. I'm a huge sports fan. Like, huge nerd. We were watching a basketball game on my phone on the drive home from the retreat last night, and I get a lot of flack in the spiritual community for that. Because in particular, I love football, and it's considered, you know, a violent sport. And I think sport in general gets a lot of a bad rap in the spiritual community. And then within that, you know, I go to a lot of bars to watch games, and I do still drink alcohol as a spiritual person. And I think that is something that there's a lot of judgment and a lot of stigmatism around. And, you know, outside of that, I think that I'm also a person. I love fashion. I love sneakers.
She's so trendy.
I love getting dressed. Like, that's a part of my expression. And I think in the spiritual community, there's a lot of judgment around that. Oh, it's materialistic, it's capitalist. Like, it's not sustainable. It's this, it's that. And so I have been really hesitant in sharing those sorts of parts of myself as well. So those are a few examples.
Yeah.
So it sounds like. And you tell me if this feels true. Like, do you feel like these are things we, like, almost, like, create shame around within ourselves?
Absolutely.
Yeah.
Yeah. Or like, I'll try and justify it. Like, oh, here, I'm going to share an outfit pick. But just so you know, this is rented, so it's all sustainable. And, you know, I'll try and, like, lighten it up or justify it in some way and not really own it fully.
Yeah.
I feel like this is maybe really on the spot, but do you have examples of someone who's maybe not in the spiritual space or, like, other ways this might show up for people? I'm just. I'm curious because I feel like these can be sneaky. Like, I. I'm thinking of, like, ways that I might hide. And I feel like mine are a lot of, like, mindset things. Like, sometimes I'm like, oh, should I let people know I still have, like, fear? And I, like, worry about that, or, like, something you and I have had a conversation about is, like, age. Like, do I let people know? And I feel like these are very, like, sneaky things. Like, do you have any, like, other examples or something that comes up?
I mean, I think those two are really good examples. But at the same time, like, we kind of prefaced this conversation with the whole idea that not every space is safe for you to express your full truth.
Yeah.
And so it is important for us to be thoughtful and discerning about what we share and with whom and where, because not everyone has the capacity to hold all of us. And I really do believe as long as we have a space in our life where every part of us can be expressed, then we're good. We don't have to express all of us to everyone.
Yeah.
But I do think that we tend to be timid in certain spaces and we tend to just edit out where we don't need to.
Yeah.
And I think that can affect our magnetism.
Yeah, I think that. Yeah, that you hit the nail on the head right there. And I think that's why I'm so excited to have this conversation, like, coming out of being a participant at your retreat, because I feel like you just create this natural safe space for to know that, like, I'm held in that. And so I think it's so important to find those spaces for yourself. Actually another maybe on the spot. But do you have any tips for people finding those spaces? I actually think you're so good at finding communities and, like, making new friends. Like, Mandy moved to Miami a couple of years ago, and she has this, like, amazing friend group. And so, like, how do you even find these safe spaces? Do you have any tips for that?
Well, I can tell you what I've done when I moved cities and tried to figure it out. So I really think about something that I am very cognizant of all the time is my values. And I think about, okay, where would people with shared values be hanging out? And I try and put myself in those spaces. And then once I'm in those spaces, I really have to hype myself up to engage with people because I am really an introvert. And it's easy for me to just slip in a room, stay in the back, slip out of the room when it's done. Hope nobody noticed me. But, like, when I moved to Miami, for example, I remember my dad helped me move. And the day that he left, I remember sitting on my bed and crying and being like, now I'm alone. Now what do I do? And I got on eventbrite and I started looking for different events related to yoga, related to sound healing. Like, I was just kind of scanning the whole gamut. And I found a sound healing training that was like a weekend long. And I thought that that would actually force me to not just slip in and slip out. You know, we would have lunch breaks and we would be there multiple days. And so I would be forced to engage with people over a longer span of time. So I signed up for it. I was super, like, nervous. And sound healing, isn't it still to this day isn't something that's like part of my services.
Yeah.
But I did learn a lot of important tools that I have been able to incorporate into my work. But yeah, actually two or three of the people that I met in that Sound Healing training formed kind of the core of my group. And what's cool about that is that because I was with them in a very intensive way that weekend, I was able to really discern whether or not they were aligned with my values and really kind of get a feel. But even so, I think with, with both of the two people I'm thinking about the first few months, it still was a little bit of a getting to know you process and a little bit of a push and pull. And we'd each push a little edge a little bit and be like, okay, can I share this? Will she think I'm weird? Can I share this? Will she think I'm weird? And maybe it was just like one little step at a time and you start to just kind of little by little push that boundary until you're like, oh, okay, we're the same brand of weird. We can do this.
We're the same brand of weird. Like, don't we all need to find those spaces? That's exactly it. Like, if you had to sum up everything we just said in the last, like several minutes, I feel like it's that statement. Find your brand of weird.
Me and you are definitely the same brand of weird.
Yeah.
It's actually so interesting too to hear that you said you were an introvert and I feel like I would have never guessed that of you. And people say that about me all the time. I'm also an introvert. And like, I feel like there's so many introverts out there that feel like they have these kind of like bold or like louder personalities, but they're actually super introverted. And like, I feel like that loneliness factor can hit even harder. And. And I feel like, I don't know. Do you think sometimes the editing piece comes in a little harder on that too because of that internal loneliness?
A thousand percent. It's so interesting that you mentioned loneliness because I am a Taurus North Node and a Scorpio South Node. And the way that that has sort of translated in my life the past few years is that the Taurus North Node is all about leaning into self sufficiency and self reliance in all of these different areas. And I've always really loved my alone time. But since I moved here to Miami, completely alone, living by myself again after living with someone for five years, it has been a really interesting dance with loneliness where I know that I'm never alone. I know that people are only a phone call away and that I have a community that if I was really upset, would come out for me. Me. But I have had a real dance with loneliness since I got here. And I think the introversion does have something to do with it as well as the editing. I find that the introversion shows up for me in the sense that I'm far more comfortable in a one on one or small group setting than I am in a large group setting.
Yeah.
When I get into a large group, I just freeze in a lot of ways. And I, I, it's like I don't even realize that I'm editing myself. It's. I can't find the words. I find a. How I have a hard time expressing myself.
Yeah.
In those settings. And I have a far easier time expressing myself in just like small group, one on one type settings.
Yeah.
That's probably like a little tool for people to keep handy on, on the how to create safe spaces. It's like learning what spaces you actually feel like. I mean, you might still edit yourself a little because there is some sense of like creating that nervous system safety net that you were talking about at the, at the beginning, but also noticing like the ones that send you into like a complete freeze mode. I feel like that's like a really great tool for people to remember of, like, well, how can I find safe spaces? What does that even mean? Just like pay attention to what your body's doing. Right?
Yes.
And that's our favorite statement.
It's been the theme of the weekend.
Yes.
And I think that. Oh my God, of course I already forgot the and because I got so excited about saying yes and oh, I remembered it.
Yeah.
Okay. So in the personal development world, I think we talk a lot about pushing your edges and I think some edges are meant to be respected. And I think if you're an introvert, you're allowed to be an introvert.
Yeah.
You don't have to push beyond that edge for yourself.
Yes.
And I just want to give everyone that permission.
Oh my gosh. I love that permission so much because I feel like it can, you can get so like inundated with the messages, like just do it, like feel the fear and do it anyways. And, and it can push you into not a great place. And if you push edges too hard, I think you start to, you can easily fall into not great patterns for yourself and find yourself in not safe spaces.
Absolutely. And not to mention the dysregulation that happens in your nervous system. And I think you can actually really self abandon and fall farther from yourself if you push it too hard.
Yeah, yeah.
Oh, my gosh, that is so true. Okay, before we shift into human design, I just want to, like, briefly touch on intuition. Because if I think about intuition and someone who's really good at listening to their intuition, like, you would be the first person that comes up.
Me? Yes, just little old me.
A hundred percent. Like, I feel like you're constantly connecting with your intuition. Your shares always feel like they're very in tune with your intuition. Even, like, the moves you've made. Like, you briefly mentioned that you moved to Miami after, like, being in a very serious relationship, and you just kind of followed your intuition to do that. So, one, I'd love for you to talk about, like, just like, what is this intuition thing people talk about? Good luck defining that. And then two, some of the, I don't know, misconceptions about intuition that. Yeah, just, just. I'm gonna let you go there, okay? No big deal. No pressure.
What is intuition? I like to think of intuition as the pull of something bigger than us that's happening inside of us. And I think you can conceptualize that in the way that resonates most with you. I think sometimes people can call it, you know, like maybe the voice of God, the voice of your higher self, the voice of the universe, the soul voice. Right. I think it's some. The something bigger than you that's calling you down the path that is meant for your personal growth and expansion.
Yeah, that's like the best definition I've ever heard.
Stop. Stop hyping me up.
I. I think it is, though, because. And I don't want to forget about the second part of the question, but I feel like it's. It's a. It's an unseen thing and something I find myself doing. And I don't think I'm alone in this. Feel free to let me know if you're. Like, no one else thinks that. But for the unseen things, it can be so easy to try and quantify that, to make it a tangible. Try and make it a tangible thing. Like, oh, intuition must be from God. Oh, no, no, no. Intuition must be from a space in our body. Oh, no, no. Intuition must. But you're saying it can be like any of those things. Like, I'm not here to actually define, like, what it is or where it comes from. It's just there, right?
Yeah. And honestly, that. I mean, not to get Too esoteric. But that's kind of my view on spirituality is like what that something bigger is. Is different for everyone and it's real for everyone. And everyone is right.
Yeah.
In my mind.
I love that. I love that. So misconceptions.
Misconceptions about intuition. Okay. The biggest misconception about intuition that gives me such a beat in my bonnet is that people think that following your intuition is going to lead you into a state of bliss.
Yes.
Like just perfect flow. Everything is going to work out perfectly. I will experience happiness and joy and again. Yes. And that can be a part of it.
Yeah.
And it usually is a part of it. Right. We all go through those moments and those seasons in our life and it's not the point.
Right.
I think the last part of how I defined intuition was that it leads us into the path that our unique soul is meant to be on for our personal growth and expansion. And depending on how our soul is meant to grow here and what lessons it needs to learn and what sort of experiences it needs to go through, there's probably some difficult, challenging, uncomfortable, sometimes painful situations that we will be led into in order to experience that. So even just now, me talking about loneliness like, yes, moving to Miami was absolutely the pull of my intuition. And it didn't make a ton of sense. I didn't know anyone here. I didn't have a support system here. I don't have a community here. It didn't make a lot of financial sense for me at the moment, but I knew it was right for me. And then when I got here, I was like, why am I here? I'm so lonely. And it's like, oh, this is part of my soul's mission. My soul's development. Like how my soul is meant to grow is to be able to hold myself through this loneliness and grow through it.
Yeah, Yeah, I love that.
And I feel like I think more and more people are talking about this now, which makes me happy, because it can be really confusing when you follow your intuition and then you're like, wait, this kind of sucks. Did I, did I do it wrong? Did I make the wrong choice? Did I listen to the wrong voice? And I think more people are talking about this now. And I love it because just because there's a contrast of emotions doesn't mean you've taken the wrong path.
Well, it's a self trust thing.
Yeah.
I see this happen a lot with my friends who are single who will like, get involved in a relationship that ends up being really painful and messy and they'll say, oh, how can I ever trust myself? I really thought that this was a person I was supposed to be with. And I'm like, you probably were. You needed to learn about this. You needed to grow through this. It doesn't mean that this per. You weren't meant to be with this person. Yeah, you can still trust yourself. And this happens to me a lot, too.
Where?
In. In the dating. Yeah, in the dating scenario, where it's just like, okay, this person seems safe. And then I get into it and I'm like, oh, they're not safe. How could I ever trust myself again? I thought they seemed safe, and it's because I had something to learn there from that person.
Oh, that is so good. I think this is the perfect place to shift over and start talking about human design a little bit. So, Mandy, just a quick overview for you all. Mandy is a generator in human design. Our generators are here to be our life force energy, our creators, our doers. They have just, like this natural buzz when they're magnetized into. And she's also a 3 5, which I think we're going to spend a little time zooming in on that in our conversation today. But the 35 profile is all about being the experimenter, doing this trial and error, letting life be a little messy, while also very much being a leader in the space and here to offer these really practical solutions for people when you feel like you're called into it, not here to solve all of the problems, only the problems that you feel called into. So, brief overview of Mandy's human design. But I want to start.
Yeah, yeah, well, wait, before we go into that, I just want to say that I really appreciate the way that you describe generators, because I have done human design readings with many different people, and I usually kind of reject the fact that I'm a generator. It's been something that I've had a lot of judgment around, and I actually even even dug up my birth certificate when I was home for Thanksgiving because I was like, it must be wrong. Like, my birth time must be off. I must not be a generator. Because I think a lot of the descriptions that I heard from other people, it was like, oh, you're the worker bee. You're the follower. Like, someone else has the vision and you execute it. And I was like, that's not me. And I would get really mad about it, and I would feel like I could see myself in all of the other archetypes, but not in that one. So I just wanted to say that. That I really Appreciate the way that you frame it, because I definitely see myself in the generator definition that you put forward a lot more than I do from a lot of other people in the space.
I. First of all, my head, like, exploded when. When you were, like, talking about that, because I'm like, oh. Like, I feel like the one thing that I want to pull through in the human design space is that, like, you actually have access to all of the energy and you have possibility for anything. And there's never meant to be, like, a limit, and it's always, like, a coming home to you. And so that makes my heart really happy. I also very much rejected being a projector, and I feel like there is, like. I don't know, is that a thing, actually, do you find, like. Because I know you are very into, like, astrology and you just have so many tools in your toolkit, but I also very much rejected being a Leo. I've also very much in the past rejected being an introvert. Like, what is that thing where we, like, are like, oh, this is me. But also I'm going to reject it.
Oh, my God. So interesting. I've never really thought about this before, but I guess it just kind of boils down to, like, grass is always greener, right?
Yeah. I'm also curious, too, if what you were touching on where, like, we see other humans definition of it and then we forget, we can give ourselves permission to redefine it. I wonder if there's a bit of that in there.
Yes. And I also liked what you said about there being a bit of all of it in us. And I think when we hear sometimes these generalizations like, oh, I'm a Gemini, I'm a generator, we're like, oh, but I'm so much more than that. And we hear the descriptions of other things and we're like, oh, but I'm that, too. And I'm that, too. And I'm that, too. And then we start to reject the thing that we've been categorized as because we think we have to stay in that box.
Yeah, that feels very, very true. Okay, so I feel like we just, like, have to talk about your generator self now. Just womp, womp.
I did this to myself.
You did. We love that. Speaking of your intuition coming through and serving things up for you. So I have, as I shared at the beginning, I've been. I'm in real life with Mandy right now, and I've been in your home for the last two days, and I have to say, I can feel the buzz of your generator Energy. Whether you're just, like, creating the retreat or also, like, doing the dishes or doing the laundry, Like, I feel the buzz of, like, you're responding to life. Like, do you feel that response in yourself? Like, where you'll just, like. Because for, like, generators to break this down a little bit more. Generators. Their energy is designed to respond to life. And it's not just, oh, I'm going to sit and wait and see what life gives to me. It's like, a constant response to life. And so, like, you see something and you're like, oh, that's a yes for me. I'm going to move into it now. Like, do you feel that response within you?
Yes.
Okay. And I'm going to title the episode that. Yes.
And I don't think in the last 24 hours that you've been here, I don't think that that's what I felt like I was doing.
Oh, interesting.
But maybe I was. I don't know. I think that I have just been abuzz with energy the past few days in general, because I was holding that space. And I was holding that space. I mean, I had one other friend who I hired to come in and do some yoga and sound healing, but I was holding it largely on my own. And I think I just had had, like, a lot of pressure and a lot of extra energy. And so I think last night, like, when you had to force me to.
Sit down, I said, sit next to me and drink your wine.
Please come sit on the couch. I think I just still had a lot of that, like, doing energy that was going. But I do feel a responsiveness to life. And actually, we talked about this a little bit in the retreat yesterday in terms of goal setting.
Yeah.
And how important it is to stay in our bodies and respond to life. And I think it's interesting because I mentioned earlier that I'm a Gemini and I'm a generator, and sometimes I feel like those two are in conflict, because as a Gemini, I'm all ideas and vision and shiny object syndrome. And then as a generator, I feel like I need to be in my body more. And that's actually my phrase of the year. In my body.
Yeah.
Because that's where I respond better from. And I find that when I am in my body and responding better, things tend to go more smoothly for me.
Yeah, that's like. So the lesson of a generator, though, like, noticing where the response is coming from, because the response is designed to come from your body, whereas when you're responding from your mind or from the Pressure, that's when you start to take on too much. And so I'd love to talk a little bit about energetic capacity and that shadow side of taking on too much. Would you say there's a signpost or a way that you notice if you've taken on too much and then how do you release that?
I think it shows up differently for everyone. And so I can share my experience.
Yeah.
My experience of taking on too much. Two things happen. One, depletion in my body.
Yeah.
Like it's a very physical feeling where I. I get brain fog.
Yeah.
I have a hard time focusing on things. I have a hard time getting out of bed in the morning, but I have a hard time falling asleep at night. So it's kind of that juxtaposition. So it's very physical in that way. But it's also interesting because I know this is part of my human design. Frustration, I think, is a part of it. I start getting resentful.
Yeah.
And frustrated and just feeling sticky in the places where I've over committed.
Yeah. So then what do you do? Like, do you take inventory of it? Do you just let yourself stew in it? Is there anything you do to like dissipate that?
Well, I think first is becoming aware of it. Right. I think it is a pattern.
Yeah.
And so it's easy to have it be an unconscious pattern. And then once it comes to your awareness, then it's like, okay, now I get to sit down and figure out where this is coming from. And I do that in a lot of different ways. I think it just kind of depends on the day. You know, sometimes it's through. I do. I have a practice of soul journaling, which is just like a channeled writing practice with my higher self. Sometimes it just comes from a brain dump. It's like, okay, I'm feeling resentful, I'm feeling frustrated. Let me just dump out all of the things.
Yeah.
That I'm feeling frustrated and resentful about. And usually when you do, you start to see some patterns. And I think the other thing that's really key to this is noticing where you want to be the victim and really asking yourself, okay, what of this can I take responsibility for? Like, how am I contributing to this situation? Because, you know, in a lot of ways, sometimes we are victimized. You know, sometimes, you know, things do feel like they're out of our control. But there's a lot of things that we are in control of and we are the perpetuators of that. We have to actually witness in Order to shift.
Yeah, Yeah, I love that. I love very tangible exercises in that. But I also love, like, the noticing of, like, the flavor of feeling you get when there is too much. And I think that's so important because I think oftentimes what people will do is just let it build and build and build and build and build and build and build instead of considering, oh, there's that feeling again. I noticed that comes up sometimes, and then how you choose to move with it might change person to person. Like, you gave some very tangible tips there. But awareness is so powerful.
Yeah. I think it's like, stuckness that comes up too. Right. At least for me. And I actually recently started. So I have this type of session that I offer for people who feel stuck and who have that frustrated feeling where I do an energy scan and I just sort of channel information from their different energy centers to find out, okay, where is the energy trapped and what's this related to? And I realized I was doing this for everyone, and it was so wonderful, and people were having really great results. And I was like, why don't I ever do this for myself?
Of course.
So I started doing it for myself recently.
Yeah.
And it's been big for me.
Oh, I love big, bombastic moments.
Also mad at myself moments where I'm just like, how could I be letting this happen?
Yeah, yeah, yeah. I. I do find the stuck energy is something I talk to a lot of generators about. Like, it's almost like as if you can feel the stuckness, like, physically in your body. So that's really fascinating to hear that. I'm actually really curious, like, do you. Because the gut is so important for generators. That's where, like, a lot of the energy comes from. I love, like, the little chuckle that comes up, and I'm like, ooh, what's going to come through? And do you find that. That you can feel that stuckness, like, in your gut? And if not, like, is there any other way the gut comes into play?
Have you seen the TikTok trend about hot girls having gut problems?
I have not. You're late. I've decided you're a queen of TikTok trends this weekend.
I'm actually not really on TikTok like, that. Like, I think I have, like, two videos that I just posted. Having fun. But, like, I love viewing TikTok. I have it. Like, I think it's very fun. But, yeah, I mean, I have a lot of gut issues.
Oh, interesting.
Yeah, it's. It's been really an interesting practice for me because I think we also talked about this at some point this weekend where it's like whenever we have an issue that is recurring in our life from a spiritual perspective, from a personal growth perspective, it's easy to be like, okay, what does this mean? What is this symbolizing? What am I supposed to learn? And then from just like a very human perspective, it's like, okay, sometimes shit just happens and it's okay for that to be part of it too. Like, I don't necessarily have to have contributed to this. And so I think in terms of my gut issues, it's like finding the dance between, okay, what is there for me here? What can I learn, how can I grow, how can I improve, how can I take better care versus how much of this is just like, I'm a product of my environment and our food systems and, you know, all of the stuff in the world today.
Yeah.
Such an important consideration. Do you find that you have, like, do you think your gut has a voice or do you feel that your gut has a voice?
I don't know. I don't know if I would call it my gut. Yeah, I mean, I definitely, like I mentioned earlier, I have like a higher self channeled writing practice, which I, you know, I say higher self or soul, but you might also call this intuition. But I don't know that. I always feel like it comes from my gut.
Do you feel like it ever comes from your gut?
I honestly feel very disconnected from my gut. It's interesting that you ask that.
Yeah.
And I have had that feedback from my naturopath as well.
Something for Mandy to explore. To be continued on the next episode. So interesting. So, okay, I'm curious on a personal level, your answer to this question, because we were talking about it before we hit record and I feel like you had strong feelings about it, but I don't know in what direction. I'm curious if you notice that people have an intuitive voice from different spaces in their body and like, how you can kind of find that space for yourself.
Yes, absolutely. I think this is so connected to what we sort of started this conversation about where it was like, I'm editing myself because I think it's supposed to look this way.
Yeah.
And I think this is the biggest hang up that people have in terms of recognizing their intuition is that people think it's supposed to feel a certain way or it's supposed to come across a certain way. But I think everyone is so different in terms of how they feel it or hear it or experience it or witness it. I don't even want to say feel it, because not everyone is a feeler. Right. And I think the way that we experience our intuition al also often points to the way we experience our spiritual gifts, which I think is kind of a separate conversation. And that's why I kind of gave you a sly smile when you brought it up earlier. I think that was your confusion is because I think it's connected.
Right.
Like, my. My intuition comes in a way that is just a knowing. Right. I just know it in my body, and you can't tell me otherwise. It's very kind of. No nonsense and no drama. And like I said, even if it makes no sense, like moving to Miami or moving to Dominican Republic, when I moved to Dominican Republic, that made zero sense.
Yeah.
I just knew it.
Yeah.
And there I got a lot of pushback, you know, a lot of flack, but I just knew it. And you couldn't tell me anything else. And I didn't realize that I had a spiritual gift in this area. But one of my spiritual gifts is Claire cognizance, which basically means that you just know things. And that applies to myself, but it also applies with other people.
Yeah.
I didn't realize that the things that I just knew, like, I would have a friend who would tell me something, and I'd be like, oh, yeah, I already knew that. And they'd be like, how did you already know that? I don't know. I don't know how I already knew that. And I realized when I started doing Reiki and I started, you know, leaning into the energy space, that when I connected with people on an energetic level, I just knew stuff about them and about what was happening, and I didn't really trust it at first because I was like, that's not a thing. You know, people who are channels and people who are healers, they experience this in a different way. They see visions, they hear voices. You know, I thought it was supposed to be different. And so I didn't realize that I was receiving intuitive information until I started sort of with trepidation, vocalizing it.
Yeah.
I remember one day I was doing Reiki on a friend, and I was like, is there something going on with your dad? And she was like, yeah, how do you know? And I was like, well, you know, this thing that's happening here on the right side of your body, I just experienced this, and I feel like there's a conflict happening with your dad. And the more I started doing little things like that, just saying little things like that and receiving confirmation, the more I Was able to. To affirm myself and to trust. Like, oh, this actually is a thing.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I love that. It's like exercise. Like, you're flexing the muscle, which is something I chat with my clients with all the time. Like, I feel like, for some reason, like, the energetic work and the mindset work and the. The work we can't see, we forget that we actually need to, like, work that out a bit, just like we do with our physical body. And, like, try it on and try it on in different ways and try it on in new way and, like, give it a little bit of an experiment until it lands.
Absolutely. And that's what I recommend that people do in terms of intuition.
Yeah.
Like, start with. Instead of asking some, like, big, broad, nebulous question, start with something super simple.
Yeah.
Do I want oatmeal or yogurt for breakfast? And, like, what is my first impulse? What's my first instinct? What am I drawn to?
Yeah.
And then trust that.
Yeah.
And then complete the cycle by actually choosing it and affirming yourself. Oh, I intuitively chose this. Right. And then after you do that for a little while, like A or B, a, B or C, then you can start opening up to what's right for me to eat today.
Yeah.
And so you kind of have to build up to it and start just noticing, okay, how did I choose this thing?
Yeah.
Where did I feel that in my body?
Yeah.
And also I think this is another thing that I always tell people. Your intuition is what you feel before your mind kicks in. Because often we'll have an initial impulse, and then our brain will come in and start to rationalize the choice. And then we get confused, and we question our initial impulse, and we forget that it was our initial impulse, and we start going back and forth, back and forth. So I always say, tell me the first thing, the first thing that you feel, the first thing you experience.
Yeah.
And that is your intuitive hit.
Yeah. Yeah.
And I think that's how you can start to notice, like, how it comes through as well.
Yeah, I love that.
Okay, I want to talk about one more piece of your design. And we've actually already started to touch on it, and that's your three five piece. And I. I love that you're like, treat your intuition like an experiment. And I'm like, of course that's what you think. You 3 5. So the 3 5. So the 3 is all about experimenting, trial, and error. The 5 is all about just being this leader that has this really. This. All of these really Practical solutions for people. And you and I were talking about this a little before, and you were sharing that there was almost like, a little resistance around the three. Around the experimenting piece of the. How does that show up?
I feel like experimenting is just a very natural thing for me.
Yeah.
I just like trying new things. I get bored in repetition. I think, like I was telling you, I think I always attributed this to being a Gemini.
Yeah.
And I think when it comes to marrying that with the other part of it, which is being a leader and providing solutions and answers to people, I start to judge it and say, well, my own experience and experiment with this isn't enough. I should know more. I should have the research to back it up. I should have this breadth of knowledge that I don't have. And so I will invalidate the experiment that I did, especially because a lot of my experiments, I'd move on from quickly.
Yeah.
So it's like, I'll do this experiment. I'll have this certain result. Maybe I'll do it a couple times, and then I'll be on to the next thing.
Yeah.
And so then I'll start to judge that and say, well, that's not enough evidence. I don't have enough knowledge. But I'm also not called to go deeper into it. I just don't feel inspired at all to do that. It feels like a choreography.
Yeah.
So I don't.
Yeah. Yeah.
It's. And that's how, like, it's so fascinating to me because these seem like these. They seem like small things in our life, but they actually have so much impact. And, like, it's making me think of a client I have that has. I mean, essentially the opposite number here, which is a one which is all about investigating and finding the foundations and doing the research and how much that lights her up when you're like, that sounds like the worst. And so I'm curious, 1. What happens if you do go into that, like, research phase? Like, if you almost, like, if you let your brain win and you go into that research phase, do you ever find yourself doing that, or do you just more often than not, just kind of shut that down?
There are times that I do.
Yeah.
And there are times that I feel called to.
Yeah.
And I think definitely our education system sets us up that way.
Yeah.
And I excelled academically. I forced it.
Yeah. Yeah.
And there are certain topics that will inspire that. Yes. I think that, though, the more. The older I get and the more I just kind of lean into who I really am, I've stopped forcing it and now it'll happen naturally. Like an example of that is I'm an a certified EFT practitioner and I was just using it individually with clients for a really long time. And I've recently started doing more like corporate workshops around it. And people in some of these different fields and environments have a lot of different questions that I didn't feel equipped to answer. And so I had to have a moment with myself where I was like, okay, if you want to continue to operate in these environments, you need to be able to answer these questions. So are you going to do the research? Are you going to find out more? Because to me it's like, oh, the research doesn't matter, the science doesn't matter. Like, as long as it works, I'm happy with that and I'm going to keep doing it. But I also want other people to do it. I want other people to experience these results. And if I really want that for them, and if I really am committed to that mission, then I need to be able to serve it up to them in the way that they can digest.
Yeah, yeah.
I mean, it sounds like just a bit of a balancing act and like, noticing and coming back to trust. Like, trusting.
When it always comes back to trust.
It always comes back to trust. Do you have any words for, like, if someone's listening and they're like, well, I feel like I really thrive in the experiment versus, like, digging into the research. But they're fighting that very societal story of like, oh, no, you need to be certain. Like, do you have any words for someone who, like, is just ready to, like, lean into the experiment but a little scared?
I would ask, like, what the fear actually is. Like, what are you actually afraid of? Yeah, a lot of times we're afraid of pushback from other people or other people's judgment. And I'll say this, I very rarely get questioned by other people. Very rarely do I have people give me pushback and give me flack about it. Yeah, I don't know if that's because I operate from a very energetically aligned and boundaried space that I just attract people who don't push back. But I don't know, I think we create a lot of that judgment in our head and we don't often experience that when we actually lean in.
Yeah.
What's really interesting to me from just a human design perspective is how aligned you are with your body, how aligned you are with your intuition, how aligned you are with essentially just your design, even without fully knowing your human design and how Beautifully. This expresses the five part of your profile. Oftentimes, the second number in our profile gets a little missed because it's the unconscious side. But I feel like what you just said, where you create these boundaries, the shadow side of the five, is having people place projections on you and then getting caught up in saving everyone. And a lot of fives I know that are in that shadow side are these caretakers that are so drained out. But I feel like because you're in such alignment, you have this natural way of having these boundaries in place and knowing where you're actually designed to deliver practical solutions instead of trying to solve every everything. Does that feel true for you?
Yeah, it does. I have a lot of thoughts coming to mind right now, a lot of different ways that I could respond to this. But I think what it boils down to is that I think I do get pedestalized a lot.
Yeah.
I do feel like a lot of people think that I have it all together.
Yeah.
But I also think the way that I combat that is by being really vulnerable. I've never really had too much of a problem being vulnerable. And I don't say that in a way that's like, I think there's been quite a commodification of vulnerability, especially in our industry in the last few years, where it's like, we felt like we had to be vulnerable for marketing purposes. It's not like that. I feel I've never really had a problem expressing my truth and my story and my flaws and what I struggle with. And I think once someone gets to know me a little better and they experience that, then I come off the pedestal a bit, which is helpful.
Yeah. Yeah.
I love. I love that you mentioned pedestal, too, because that is, like, often how fives will feel. That they're, like, up on this pedestal, and they're like, how did I get up here? Some. Someone let me down. And so I love that your answer to that is like, there actually doesn't have to be a pedestal, because when you open up to that vulnerability, it can be the medicine.
Right. And I think it's just through relating.
Yeah.
Right. Where you're just like, okay, well, I'm the same as you in this. Like, here's how I experience what you're sharing with me.
Yeah.
And I think I've even shared a few stories with you this weekend of, like, random people coming and sharing, like, really big.
Yeah.
Truths with me. And I feel I get caught in a situation where I'm like, wait a second. Why am I responsible for this? All of the sudden. And that happens to me so often that I think I've figured out how to create energetic boundaries around it and how to kind of almost communicate that without speaking.
Yeah.
I'm thinking of the guy on the beach today that I repelled energetically.
It was so instant, I forgot about that. And I've. I saw this in real time today.
I'm a very good repeller. Yeah.
Yeah.
We're gonna have to have you on for, like, part two to, like, tell us how to, like, create energetic boundaries.
I'm happy. I'm happy to do that. But, yeah, I think this is really about, like, being authentic, sharing authentically, and also being really clear about what you're available for and what you're not available for. And I think if you stop engaging with something and you hold the pose.
Yeah.
You consistently don't engage with something, it will fall away. And that is probably one of the more common, practical ways that I practice this.
Yeah.
Oh, my goodness, Mandy, this has been such a good. Like, good doesn't even encompass it. But that's just the word that's here.
You know what this is making me think about? Do you remember, I think it was maybe a year or two ago that you came to me and you were like, I think we're supposed to start a podcast together. We just have such good conversations. And I'm sitting here and I'm like, this is such a good conversation. Maybe. Maybe this is my podcast now, Megan. Maybe you've just given me a seat at the table.
We're gonna have to discuss that off air. But truly, it has been such a good conversation, and we would love to hear from you all if you think this is a good conversation, too, or if we're over here in Megan and Mandy land.
Tell us the truth.
Tell us the truth.
We're all about truth here.
We are 100%. Mandy, is there anything, like, final that's just coming into your space that you want to share with everyone?
You know, I really love the mission that you have with human design, and I think we talked about this in a few different ways here today, but I was talking about how I reject that generator part of myself, because I felt like it was trying to stick me in a box. And I want to encourage people like, you know, we were talking about how we edit ourselves and how we express ourselves. I really want to encourage you to use tools like human design to create just more acceptance of yourself and to really lean in, because there is a lot of juice here. And you might find that in a reading like this that there's pieces of you that you didn't realize that you're editing that you didn't know that you weren't expressing. And I think that's where the real juice is, where it's like so permission giving to just be more of who you are. And that's the medicine that the world needs. Like you were created with all of your unique traits because there is a purpose for all of that here in the world that I think that is purpose to be just the most you that you can be. And I think this is a really beautiful tool for that because it's so comprehensive and it covers so many different areas and it just allows you to love yourself more.
I love that. I love that. It's been such a gift having you here and having all of your wisdom.
You are a gift to me, my dear.
Until next time because you'll definitely be back.
That I will. You can't get rid of me.
