Hello, hello my friends and welcome back to the Clarity Corner. I am jazzed up unicorn style for today's conversation. We have someone here with us who helps you embrace your inner teacher and as someone who has been in her space I truly feel like she has such a gift of like pulling pulling wisdom out of you in this like beautiful potent way. And also we share A love of making really big facial expressions in group settings.
Huge. So makes us amazing students.
Oh, dropping the wisdom already. Welcome to the show. Raquel Corona.
Yes.
Tell me more about that, please. As someone who does the big facial expressions, how does that make us better students?
I don't know. I just feel like. I just. It's the energy thing. I think it's like, you. The felt sense, energy. It's been really interesting going back to work after the pandemic and the shift in the classroom with the students and how it's actually very hard to feel them energetically. And this semester is, like, the first time in, like, two years since I've been teaching after post pandemic that I'm like, oh, I can, like, see them and, like, feel them in it. Because sometimes, like, they're just, you know, from not having to be in spaces with people, they're just, like, very energetically, like, cut off in some ways.
Yeah.
And so I'm like, oh, once you can, like, pay attention and see how people, like, respond to you as a teacher and not make it about you, but make it about, ooh, what's happening here? Is that just that person's affect, or is that, like. I love to watch a whole semester of, like, people's affect changing and then you noticing, oh, they're confused right now because usually this is how they are, you know? But, yeah, I don't think that went to anything that you asked me, but.
Yeah, a hundred percent did. I'm also like, okay, boom. Interview, done. Conversation, made it to the mic drop. Like, that's an incredible way to consider. Like, when you are holding group spaces. I know I am so guilty or just easily wrapped in or swept away of, like, I'll notice someone and lock into them on a zoom room, and they're making, like, a blank expression, and I'm like, oh, my God, they hate this. They hate everything that's going on. Like, what do I do? And I go into, like, panic mode, and I'm just, like, smiling and still teaching. And it's such a good reminder of, like. But that actually doesn't have anything to do with you.
Yeah. And actually, for me, I had one student this semester, and she's just, like, nods like, I've never had a student nod at me like this.
Yeah.
I'm like, I consider a lot of things I can. Like, I'm always looking at a student, like, holistically.
Yeah.
Like, where are they from? Like, what is their background? What's their belief in regards to authority figures? Like, how does that respond to me? Right. And so watching her, I'm like, yeah, I get why she's in it to win it in this way. Way just from her background. But then she's also, like, genuinely excited. And I'm like, I'll take it in this room. But it's also, like, not really about sometimes. I'm always reading, and I wonder. It's. For me, it's not a question of interest. It's a question of are you, like, actually understanding what we're doing or not? Like, now I'm always wondering, like, is this a question of. And this comes Megan from teaching required courses. Like, I teach required English courses. People don't want to be there, girl. Like, yeah, I want to have to take something they don't want to take. So I'm like. I'm like, you know, I went through a phase of my life where I'm like, how can I motivate them to be excited to be here? And I'm like, well, we got to take the energy a little bit down. I can do that through my natural presence. But that's a lot of energy to exert for a group of people who are required to be somewhere. Right. And so to me, it's like, well, I'm always. My assumption is like, if you gotta be here, I'm just glad you came. So now what are we gonna do once you're here?
Yeah.
Facial reactions and responses are really powerful. And it's interesting to see the students how it shifts, too, based on what. What you're doing.
Yeah.
Like, it's interesting to see their whole demeanor change when you put them in a group. Like, things like, calm down. Right. Even I entered a zoom room, and they're like, I don't know what this means. Like, they said something ridiculous, and I was like, that's a good question. Let me answer it for you.
Yeah.
Like, they're just, like, totally different when you're not directly overseeing learning that it's like, oh, this is juicy. I get to keep getting to know you. Right. Right.
And that's so powerful. I feel like this is, like, this can be such a powerful tool in, like, any relationship. Like, do you find that learning how to embrace your inner teacher kind of overflows into other areas of life?
Yeah. I have to also take it back some days. Yeah. Because I'm like, well, I'm always a student more than a teacher, but it's hard when you're in your relationship.
Yeah.
Especially romantic relationships. It's like, oh, like, how am I going to agree to receive, allow myself to move, you know, because teaching, also teaching in the business is. Teaching is different than teaching in like a academic classroom.
Yeah, yeah.
And I think that's why I love doing what I do in the business. Because it's not. The teaching is. Is the place I think I've always wanted to be, which is like, oh, I'm just like you. Like, I just know something about this and you know something about that. And now we get to like interact and make this magical connection to help each other become better. Right. And there's no grade attached versus in the classroom. That, that sort of muddies things, that changes the dynamic from the way that a student, you know, and I can change my curriculum all I want. I can say grades are based on this and I shift things, but a grade is a grade. It's like the final thing that you grant someone to denote something. And so it shifts this relationship versus in the business, it feels like, oh, I'm like just teaching a colleague.
Yeah.
That is totally different.
Yeah.
And the age there doesn't really matter nearly as much. Right. And people are at different phases of their life.
Right.
And so, so I think that's what I love about teaching in the business, where it's like, oh, like I can be a different kind of teacher. I think the one I think I've always been desiring to be, but it's really hard to be.
Yeah.
And then in the romantic relationship, it's like, how do I not spend my life schooling people? I think I spent a lot of my life like, I don't know, I have an image of myself. My brother told me once, he's like, you were in Dr. And he's like, forever. You would be like, yeah, you're going to have that cereal, but it's not going to taste like it is in the U.S. like, he was like, you were always just a smart alec, like, like trying to tell people stuff. And sometimes I'm like, well, do we need that right now at this time in this context?
Yeah. Yeah.
That's such a great reminder to like, keep yourself grounded. Like.
Yeah. Notice it's also like in your lane too. Right. Like, is it my place, is it my time to share this with this person? I think especially because I'm sure you see it too, because you're very. I don't know, I feel like you're very direct and you can sort of see things almost immediately. And I think sometimes when people encounter us, I have to consider and I have to consider, what hat am I Wearing. And is it my responsibility to share this thing that I so clearly see? Yeah, but they don't see, you know? And so I feel like that's been a lesson as I learn how to be a coach. Like, oh, I did that thing my whole life. I didn't have to do it like that.
Yeah.
I'm like, oh, I can get compensated to consider sharing my perspective rather than just feeling like, oh, it's my job to tell you about yourself. And so.
Yeah. Yeah.
Does that make sense?
Oh, 100. And I feel like it's this, like, weaving together of what you've always been innately good at and, like, deepening those skills and being able to, like, use them in many different dynamic ways that light you up.
Yeah. Yeah, exactly.
So I'm curious before we dive into your juicy human design, so excited. I'd love to hear how you define in your own words, embracing your inner.
Teacher.
Believing that you have something to share and that you're a value and worth, just like, as you are who you are and the way that you've been made, whatever journey you've been on.
Yeah.
It's so good. Like, it's so not what I expected.
And that came from my heart. I've never been asked that question. That's such a good question.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I love that concept of, like, believing I have something to share.
Like, I think we're all teachers. I think we just for. We just think teachers only exist in certain spaces, and they have to be delineated by someone to be a teacher. I mean, but their parents out in these streets, barely being parents. So what does a title mean Anything? Right? Like, it doesn't, you know, to me, I'm just like, yeah, yeah. There's, like, a deep belief in me of, like, well, why? I don't know. Why would it. Like, why would something be placed in you if it wasn't meant to be shared?
Yes.
I love how this connects actually so beautifully to your human design because you are what's called a pure generator. So this, like, powerful internal energy from within, and I feel like that's what you're speaking to right now of, like, there is something within you, and it is, like, ready to come out and be expressed. And the generator in human design is designed to be, like, so deep in their satisfaction and just be, like, so lit up by what they're doing and when their energy is aligned with what feels like deep inner satisfaction, it's so incredibly magnetic. And I know you just came back to the classroom after being off for winter Break. Right.
Mm.
So how has that been energetically, like, being in kind of your own space and then, like, shifting into a new space. Walk us through that a little bit.
I mean, I'll put it in the larger context of, like, spending a year off and coming back after summer.
Love it.
Yeah. I'm trying to find the right adjectives that I want to claim. It's been very confusing, very exhausting, and also really beautiful to watch myself lean into what I've already developed, you know?
Yeah.
Because I think I've spent so long trying to figure things out and get my curriculum a certain way. And I've gotten, like, even online certifications all through the pandemic to see how do I teach students online. And since I've been returned, I've gone back. Now I'm like, okay, I only have so much things have fallen behind. And what I've noticed in this, like, third week is like, oh, I have stuff. How do I lean on the things I've developed and not go down this hole of, like, having to change everything just to feel like I have to be engaged? And I did last semester create a whole new curriculum, but it was about career exploration.
Yeah.
And so I was actually talking to my partner yesterday about, like, oh, like, right. Like, I love the thing about teaching that I love that is what I do in the business is, like, creation. Like, how do we birth something? I am always up for, like, the process of magically bringing something.
Yeah.
To life that you can't even put your finger on. And then when it happens and it happens in the way only you can do it, I'm like, so, yeah. It makes sense why I'm always in process of trying to develop or add something new, because it, like, keeps me in it. You know, it is absolutely exhausting when you create new curriculum. Like, I had to change it. And it was, like, eight weeks. Right. It was like a course. Right. Um, but it was also really beautiful for me to see how I approached it. Like, rather than getting all tied up in it and being like, oh, this has to be this, and I have to know this much. I'm like, okay, we're going to do this, and we're going to see how it goes.
Yeah.
It's. I have to learn more. And even by the end of the semester, someone asked me a question, and I was like, oh, I didn't talk about that. Yeah, I need to put that in the curriculum. And I didn't feel bad at all. Usually I'd feel horrible and guilty. I'm like, Oh, I didn't think about all these things. And I was like, wow. I didn't even consider that. And it's an important consideration for the students that I work with. And it was about attire and finding affordable attire. And I was like, wow. That's how I know I'm, like, losing. Not losing touch with students. But I had just returned from not teaching for a year, so how would I, like, know some of those things when I'm, like, away from the classroom?
Yeah.
And so it's been a journey of, like, lots of tears because I feel like I'm in the middle of, like, seeing how amazing I am at something, but desiring to figure out how to close the door or even figure out if it is time to close the door or if I'm just being real ridiculous about it.
Yeah.
And then still seeing myself in the magic of what I can create is, like, really? I don't think I've ever taken the time to, you know, like Sora says, like, sacred witness. Like, I have been there just watching myself, and I'm like, wow, I do some awesome stuff. But, yeah, it's like being in that while also bittersweet, like, really exhaustion of being pulled of, like. But I think this is what I'm called to do. And being in this moment of transition, I'm unsure all of that expressed what I was hoping it would, but.
Yeah. Well, I think what's so powerful with the generator energy? Well, one thing the generator energy loves to do is it loves to master. Like, it loves to be in mastery. Like, once it. Once it responds and says yes to the thing, which I feel like one of your things is teaching. If that hasn't been incredibly clear, it says yes to the thing, and then it's like, all in. You're all in. And there's, like, this sense of mastery. And I can imagine that feeling of, like, when that mastery feels like it's taking a pivot.
Yeah.
And I feel like. I love that you use the word birth. Like, what are we birthing into creation? And there's so much power in the gut for the Generator as well. And I feel like it's like this expression of, like, cycles of, like, a birth, rebirth, death, letting it all just inform and create the pathways.
Yeah.
So I heard a lot.
You remind me, too. I had this call with a coach, like, two years ago, over two years ago. And she. It's when I had the moment of, like, I knew. I knew that I knew the chapter was over. I didn't know what it meant.
Yeah.
I just knew the way that this looked in the way of what I was doing. Like, it was done.
Yeah.
And it's actually powerful to say that. It's actually been two years since I had that moment. But it's been a huge transition to be like, well, I've worked, like, 15 years to get this title and be a professor and be a teacher, and this is what I wanted for so long. And so she said to me, she's like, but you won't ever stop being a teacher or a professor. I was like, well, really? And I've been on a journey of, like, what does it mean to be a teacher now right outside that space and consider, like, even reflecting on my experience in that space of, like, why it was so hard to be in it, even though I stuck it through.
Yeah.
And comparing, like, the beginning of developing stuff for the business and curriculum versus curriculum and education. And it's been interesting to consider, like, wow. I have been. I have been trying to figure out how to teach people how to do things for a long time that I don't always get paid to teach them how to do, like, all the stuff we do in coaching with, like, skills and, like, life skills. It's like, I have been doing that with students in so many ways, and it's what always still lights me up. That's why I created a whole thing on career stuff, because I'm like, what matters is this.
Yeah.
And so it's been interesting to be like, oh, how does, like, what feels? Good.
Yeah.
Right. And true in comparison to this, Like, I would say it's not even a niggle. It was just like. It's like the huge pebble of, like, this is good. I can walk and I still have a good gait in this space, but it still feels like something's off. And, you know, like, that's why I just kept working and figuring out, like, what's off? Like, what am I getting that's off?
Yeah.
It's not. Right. And then I do this one thing, and I'm like, everything feels right. No matter how hard it is, no matter how hard it is to market something to get people to an event, like, or to get people to sign up to something or to finally get started my program, be stressed. Like, am I going to be able to do this? Like, none of it, like, none of it feels off. It may feel hard.
Yeah.
But it's really kind of, like, astounding how I'm like, wow, how long have I been uncomfortable and okay with being uncomfortable. Right.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
That's so interesting. And I feel like that is, like, the Generator battle of, like, actually recognizing that something is off, especially the things that were once working really well.
Yeah.
So I know, like, so much of what you do in the business, too, is taking people from one to one to one to many and helping them, like, develop those really powerful curriculums, components. What would you say to someone who is feeling, like, do I want to shift? Do I not want to shift? And, like, maybe in that space of confusion on, like, how they can find their direction.
That is such a good question. Omg. My Generator self says, if you're questioning it, that means it's meant to be. Because the reason you question yourself is because there's, like, a level of something that's asking something of you.
Yeah.
That you are concerned about.
Yeah.
Right.
Yeah.
That is my immediate response. But a more logical response would be one of, what are you concerned about? Like, what is the concern? Is the concern time? Or is the concern that you don't know even where you would begin? Or is it money? Like, what is the actual thing that's making you question that?
Yeah.
There's, like, an honoring of, like, this is here for a reason. Like, this feeling is here for a reason. And also what's at the root of it all? Because if we don't find what's at the root of it all, even if we move forward with, like, what's. What we're feeling pulled towards, we might run into that block and run into that block and run into that block. And so I feel like this is, like, so much of your innate gift is just, like, I can bring in that pull forward, and, like, we can consider the logical pieces as well, and that can create a really beautiful experience.
I love that you said that, because when you said, oh, pull forward, I was like, yeah, energy coaching does that. I just bring you into energy. And that's what I realized in doing a few workshops and then working with my group is like, yeah. Oh, I don't have to do the work of, like, mining things with you. Like, if we quiet the mind, get you to a space where you're not considering all the things logically in just one really potent moment, you can get something in energy space that just changes the entire way of what you're imagining you would do with a group. Every person that I brought into energy space with, like, this one simple tool, like, things come forth. They're like, I wasn't even considering that, but that makes a lot of sense. And I would do this, and I'M like, yeah, that's what we have to do. We have to quiet, like, all of the what if to actually get you grounded on what you love about what you do so you can be ready to show up and do it.
Yeah, I love that. I mean, not one, because I love energy coaching as well, but two, as connected to your design. You're a generator that has an open head space and third eye space, which, in shadow, can create a lot of scatteredness, a lot of confusion, a lot of getting stuck in the thoughts. And then the wisdom is incredibly focused, incredibly open, incredibly flexible, and becomes this great reflector of other people's thoughts to them. And being a generator with that powerful energy within your body, within your gut, but then having that open headspace, I feel like, can create this inner battle. Does that feel true?
Always. Always. It's an inner battle between, like, even today. Like, I was journaling, and I was like, I've been doing research on the spiritual journey I'm on, and there's some space that I applied to go into that accepted me, and it's been, like, almost a month, and I haven't gone forward with it. And I was journaling, and I was like, you know why I haven't? It's because, like, I have this qu. Like, my logical mind is, like, questioning the sacrileg. It is just, like, it just, like, knows, right? Like, I listened to someone on a podcast. I had asked for guidance. I listened to her, went to go check out our website. I was like, oh, my God, this is it. Like, I've been exploring this one person, this deity. And I'm like, it's here and it's here. And I'm like, that's it. So I applied, and then I got it, and then I was like, this isn't what I thought it would be because I'm on a special cupcake, and I want special experiences. And I'm like, whatever. So I go check out the email yesterday, and then I see her welcome video. And I was like, this wasn't what I saw last time I was in here. And then I listened to it, and I was like, yeah, I need to sign up. And so this morning, I wrote, and I was like, what is it with me? Like, I know. I was like, yeah, but the logical mind ain't up for it because it can't make no damn sense of it. It's like, well, how do you know? I'm like, I don't know how I know. I just know when I'm listening to that woman whose Presence I've never even been in. There's something that resonates and pulls me towards her. And I can be in other spaces, in with these people live. And I'm like, no. Like, it just doesn't hit and it doesn't make any sense. But that. I hope that explains, like, this thing that's always of, like, heart, gut, and, like, logic doesn't make sense.
Yeah.
That's such a fascinating thing. I feel like, to hear from a teacher, why, like, never in my life did I feel like I'd hear a teacher be like, logic doesn't make sense.
Oh, really? Oh, that's so funny.
Yeah, it's. It's so expansive to hear as well. And I'm curious, like, I know you use energy coaching as a tool, but how do you even invite in those other voices within our body as someone is creating their own, like, group experience, course, program, whatever it is.
That's so beautiful. My immediate responses are you. I don't know. I think people always get me anchored into my body. I don't know how to explain. I think in the inner. In the energy of teaching people's presence.
Yeah.
Helps me be like. I don't know, it's almost like a. Like a. Like, it gets me to be real quick with, like. Like assess my body and, like, what is actually anchored there. Because I think it's because I follow my intuition in the classroom. Like, I have a lot of plans.
Like, yeah.
I taught on what yesterday. I was like, we're going to spend, like, 40 minutes on this. We spent an hour and a half, and I was unwilling to let it go.
Yeah.
Not because of old Raquel who was like, no, we're gonna get this thing done. But of like, no, this is really valuable. And I think it's important we stay here and that students see this process and we'll get to the next thing when we get to it. And so to me, I'm always in the classroom taking direction from them.
Yeah.
Because if I. If I don't, then it's just a Raquel show. That's not teaching. That's, like, leading.
Yeah.
And so I'm always anchored into, like, am I actually paying attention to them? Because that means I'm paying attention to the space. But I don't know if that's always having to do with my body, but I think my body's, like, often trying to get in clicking position with what is the energy here. Like, even if they're, like, looking tired, I'm like, okay, why are you all looking so tired. What's going on? It's midterms, you know, it's like, oh, yeah, thanks for letting me know. Totally, totally. Like now I have a total sense as to why I'm here. This way. Yeah, you're there that way, you know.
Yeah.
And that reminds me of like, oh, what can I give today, considering what is happening over there.
Yeah.
And what is it that they need that I have the ability to give? Even like yesterday I had. You would love. I had this wonderful group energy coaching session with my clients and my continuing membership. And I was, I. The divine has woken me up at 4am to do God knows what and I am shifting my body to meet it.
Don't you love that? Like, awesome. Thanks.
I'm like, what is happening? I usually never pay attention to these. I'm like, fine, I will do this. And so it's like 8 o' clock yesterday, 7:30. And I'm like, oh, energy coaching. Okay. I have to remember, like, this isn't like consulting where I have to like show up with logical Raquel. This is like Raquel holding space.
Yeah.
So how do I. How do I know like, that my presence is what I got? And like, even though I don't have much left because it's about to be 8:30, what can I do? And it was so beautiful how in that moment I was met with what I least expected and what would they most needed. Right. Because they were. They actually had a lot of energy and actually didn't have many things to like, want to go into energy space. Like usually each like a certain amount. And I was like, wow, this is like. It's like, I don't know how to explain like these moments of like.
Yeah.
If you sit and you anchor into what people need, I'm like, okay, if they don't have anything particular, we'll just define a question or a thing. And then I was like, I sat for a moment. I was like, I'm just gonna guide you in. You all are gonna go on a journey on your own. I'm here to anchor one or two times. And then it was still like the most magical thing ever. But that's, I think also what I learned in the business versus what I couldn't learn in the classroom is like, I'm always anchored into where my energy is when I meet clients.
Yeah.
In the classroom. I never really thought of that. I was like, I gotta do what I gotta do to get you where you need to go. Right. And so that's why I always paid attention to them. But in the business, it's like, like, where am I? What can I give at what day and what time? Yeah, I don't know if that answers that question.
Yeah, no, what I'm hearing, like, in either way and what I feel like is really tangible for anyone listening is like you're meeting yourself where you're at, and you're also meeting the group where they're at. And there's this real, like, flexibility that enters in with it all as well. Because you can create the curriculum, you can create the things. You can have the perfect plan in your brain. And then life comes along and it decides to be lifey or whatever, and you just meet it all where it's at, whether it's meeting yourself or meeting the group and bringing this flexibility in. I feel like that is something I know that I would have needed to hear when I was first creating group experiences.
Yeah. You remind me too, that I think people, when they hear that, the control freaks. I see you because I am you. I always say, I see you because I am you. Control freaks often are like, well, will I ever get to the curriculum? I'm like, of course you will. I mean, I had a, like 12 week program and I noticed at a certain juncture we were tired. It was me and them. And so I was like, okay, what do I do here? This is not a forever thing. It's just like moments of you acknowledging that because everybody knows what they joined for. You're not going totally off track here. You're just taking a moment to acknowledge because that's what's going to happen when you're on a learning journey with people. Like, no matter how long it is, it could be two hours, an hour and a half, to 12 weeks, to six months. You have to pay attention to yours and theirs, energy and motivation as they move through that time with you, because it's not going to be consistent and they're going to be different things that trigger different people to get on board or to be out as certain components. And that has nothing to do with you. It has to do with, with the journey and being kind to yourself to know, like, long journeys and long journeys. I mean, I'm in a classroom for 16 weeks with the same people. It's extensive time.
Yeah.
You know, and. And they're not going to be able to give you their best the entire time if they can. That's wonderful. You have those people. There's maybe a quarter.
Yeah.
In every group that will be able to hit you with that same energy level. But that's not, that's not going to be fair for you or for them. And that's why I always tell people when they're planning, plan more rather than less time so that you can take the break and not feel bad about not getting to the thing that you had promised them.
Yeah, I feel like that's such a good piece of advice and definitely speaks to those control freaks out there that are listening. I. I'm so intrigued because you said a moment ago that you really find the direction with the people that are in the space. And your profile and human sign is 4 6. Your profile, if anyone listening is like, what the heck is that? Your profile is kind of the pathways that easily walk you into purpose. It's where your most easeful opportunities enter in. And Raquel's first number, the four is all about community. It's all about people, it's all about connections. I also feel like this is like the prime profile for someone that can create group experiences. The 4 6.
I'm so glad you're saying this because there are moments of doubt, folks all the time in the business or whatever. It's always like, well, am I here? Am I really want to do this? In what way? Yeah, yeah, yeah. I think that's what I love about human design too is like when I found out I was a 4 6, I was like, oh, this makes so much sense as to like why I'm constantly looking for community spaces. I mean like I'm a woman who's like, oh, I'm going to leave education. So I'm going to invest in this like high ticket thing to help people be able to leave education. Because I don't know what it is to like just be like, oh, let me figure this out on my own. I mean I do, I mean I did that from when I was a child. But I like to do it in spaces with other people and invest so that they provide something because I can as a researcher I can get lost in all like the information and yeah, necessarily take action. And sometimes I'm like, can I just, can you just tell me what to do sometimes? Because there's a lot of information out there. And I also learned, I was like, if I'm going to change a field, that means I change the people who help me learn about things so I have to find other people. So learning about human design, I was like, oh, that makes so much sense. And it makes sense how I filled my first group program for all these people were based on a network I'd either been in or attended.
Yeah.
You know, but I'm sure you help people consider, like, how do you do that? Bigger questions. I was like, how do you do that?
Yeah.
Yeah. And there are bigger questions of, like, where do I build community further in the business and how do I do that in, like, a online platform.
Yeah.
Versus, like, going to a gathering everyone's agreed to when they see you. And, you know, like, I. You know, I'm always like, if you're with me in group, I am 100% convinced one day I will convert you. Because that's like me. You can see me in the group. And I think people get that. But it's hard to be like, well, you can't build a business. I can't be everywhere.
Yeah, right.
And so there are moments I'm like, oh, yeah, this makes sense. And other times I'm like, what am I supposed to do about this? You know.
Such as life itself. This makes all of the sense. And also, what do I do with it?
Right, Exactly.
It's so true. I feel like the magic of the four, though, is nourishing the right communities, though. Like, it's not actually being everywhere. What's that movie title? Everything Everywhere all at once.
Oh, that would be exhausting.
Yeah, exactly. And that is so exhausting for the four. Like, the idea of, like, how many networks do I have to be in? Could actually be actual. That could do the complete opposite. Because it's not about all the communities. It's about finding the right communities. And I love that you were like, I just, like, effortlessly filled my first group program. Of course you did, because you have the four and you also have this magnetic generator energy. What's so interesting? I'm also a 4 6.
I didn't know that.
I am.
Yes.
And we'll talk about the six in a minute as well, because I don't want to breeze past it. But I'm a 46 and I'm a projector, and I find that I actually. I love the one on one containers, and I love group spaces too, but my focus is on the one on one containers. And I feel like this is a beautiful expression of the generator energy being so magnetic and calling these beautiful groups in, and the projector energy being so focused and intimate and deep and one on one, and that can switch. Everyone is so dynamic and everyone is so unique. But what I'm hearing is we all have this opportunity to decide how do you want to connect with community? What feels good? Align yourself with that and then let it unfold.
It sounds so simple.
It does feels that simple.
But, yeah, there was something beautiful in what you said, though, that made me realize maybe that's been a journey I've been on in the business, too, of like, I'm Raquel. I am a researcher. I will find communities. I will pay to join them. I will be wherever I want to be. I didn't realize only a couple months ago, I was like, oh, but I can decide if I want to stay there, if these are my people, because I've left certain group containers, and the ones I've left or those containers have completed, like, my brain and, like, my heart feel, like, free. And I'm like, wow, what does that show me about how uncomfortable I am? And I, like, still stick it out because, you know, sometimes you pay an investment, you're like, well, I paid for this. I'm gonna show up for it. Or you're like, well, I think I need this kind of support. And for me, because I'm a recovering codependent, it's kind of hard to release and be like, I think I'm done with this. It's like, oh, what does it mean that I'm done with this community?
Yeah.
But it's really powerful for me to notice that even after I'm like, oh, wow, I feel like a quietness and a stillness of, like. And there was one moment I left one container, I was like, oh, I can finally do what I want to do. And I'm like, why were you in there then? Like, so it's so interesting to watch myself navigate different communities and be like, oh, I just. Because I love being part of groups, and I really am like, a. I love to see how other people do things in groups. Then I'm like, well, stick around till I. I guess I learn what I'm supposed to get out of this. And then it takes me a while to leave. But it's. It's interesting to hear you say that, because I'm like, yeah, I think it's a journey to picking the communities that best serve you, like, emotionally, professionally. Yeah.
Yeah.
Do you have any wisdom around, like, how the. How. Since you're like, it sounds so easy, but when you put it into practice, whether it's someone who's like, how do I find my communities? Or how do I make sure I'm aligning with creating the right community?
Do you have any tips for people.
That are trying to navigate that right now?
It feels like two separate questions, but the first one in regards to, if you're looking for community, the question I've Learned to ask now is, does this person value what I value?
Yeah.
And if they don't, what are they teaching me? Because there's a dear mentor of mine who I actually don't agree with any of most of the things that she taught me.
Yeah.
And I had to come to my own journey with that.
Yeah.
But I still, like, I paid her a hefty bunch, and I really think she always had my best interest at heart.
Wow.
But it revealed to me, like, what are my values in regards to selling, in regards to showing the business? Like, if. If that interaction brought something out in me that made me see, oh, this is what I care about, then at least I'm aware enough to be like, where is the other space that cares about it in this way? So that's a big one. One like, of values. And I'll be honest, you may not know what that is until you're sitting there and you feel mad. Like that feels iffy. It feels if. Because you may not be in alignment. And that's very different than, like, your response being one out of fear. Right. Because I think sometimes we'll be like, oh, I'm scared to sell. Oh, maybe I'm not scared to sell. May I just don't like that way of selling. Because when I sell in this way, I'm not scared to sell. When I open up an email and write it, when I'm sitting and I've given somebody value for an hour and a half, I'm happy to freaking pitch whatever I got. Maybe it's this that's the problem. And not that I don't like to sell. For some people, it might be that they don't like to sell no matter what. But for me, it had to be that exploration and how it doesn't necessarily make that guide wrong.
Yes.
You know, because she still values some of the things I value. It's just those set of values are not aligned. Right. Because there are things that she believes in, in her mission, about what she does for women. And you know that I'm like, yeah, totally get it. I'm on board with part of that. So question I always have is, like, what's your sense of values? Like, what do you care about and make sure and. And know that, like, that's what I always want to remind people. Like something on a website, something in writing, sounds wonderful. But you have to sign up and feel like you have to sign up for free offerings. You need to look at how they interact with people to see if that's actually in alignment with the way they.
Yeah.
Have communicated. Do they walk the talk?
Yeah.
And you have to see your feeling. Like that big question you asked me about how do you feel in your body? There are moments I look back at certain programs and I'm like, oh, like I was like, shrinking.
Yeah.
Right. And so if that's what it calls out in you.
Yeah.
Then one. Get a friend or a coach to help you distinguish if you're. If it's you or if it's the space. Because sometimes it's. It's you.
Yeah.
But sometimes it is the space. There are spaces that don't call us forward in that way. Right.
This is such a powerful exploration. Like, truly hit rewind, double tap, re. Listen to that. And is like an exploration. And I think you kind of alluded to, like, sometimes we just have to learn this the hard way.
Well, how? Well, learning is always hard. You're always learning in the hard way. What is he learning? You can learn it the easeful way. That's different than easy. Right. But yeah. Yeah, you do. I feel like you got to put money on it to be ready to learn half the time, you know, like some people don't want to, and they're like, oh, no. I'm like, well, you're not taking up a big of a risk, because if you really are that tied to it, then really consider, like, what would that investment mean to you?
Yeah.
That, like, hit me in the gut. Talk about your gut being activated. That hit me in the gut. That's so true. That, like, most learning actually is kind of hard, but it can be useful with that. At the same time. There can be like a both and. But some lessons are just meant to be hard.
Yeah. And when. That reminds me of your second question.
Yeah.
And I think my answer is about the same.
Yeah.
When you're creating your own community, do they know what you care about? And do they actually care about it? Because if they don't, you're not going to want to be around them. And then they're going to come at you with some stuff. You're going to be like, oh, they thought they could do that. They could say that they could engage that way. And I'm like, well, yeah, they thought you. They could because you didn't. You didn't explicitly communicate the guidelines around which your community exists. You know, I ran a circle, like, just like in someone else's community last weekend, and I was like, oh, God, I have to have guidelines. You know, when people join me for my circle, they get it in advance. The Whole list of them. I talk a little bit about them. I have them for a few days. So I'm like, like. But this one, I was like, okay, we got to make this simple, Raquel.
Yeah.
So I was like, what are the three? And if there's a couple sub points, we can do that. And so I did it. And I was like, I don't know if it's going to be. It's hard when you go into someone else's community. Right?
Yeah.
And even after I said it, like, one person responded. It never fails. Every time I do guidelines, whether it's my own community or someone else's, people will say, oh, those are great. I agree. That was really helpful. I feel safe now.
Yeah.
I. I know this because I've been doing this for years, but, yeah. Every time I get that response, I'm like, okay. I'm glad it was supportive.
Yeah.
Because it reveals to you what you. What your values are to someone. Right. If I say, like, this space doesn't welcome this. This space is a space in which we do this, then they know immediately who you are and what you're fitting to put up with and what you're not.
Yeah. Yeah.
I feel like that's such a tangible exercise people can put into practice of, like, if you're creating something right now, like, do you have guidelines in place? And if you're already in the middle of something, what if you just made guidelines even if you didn't share them? Like, what if you just made them for yourself? Do you feel like that has, like, the same power behind it if someone's, like, right in the middle of an experience?
Yeah, because you usually don't. That's the beauty of being a community. You don't know what you stand for until you sit there and you look around you. I think people are the relation.
Yeah.
That reveal that to you.
Yeah.
I mean, I do it now because I've been doing it so long, but if you haven't done it, like, that's the best part of, like, what are these people revealing to you about what you actually care about?
Yeah.
Because that will be, like, a huge, wonderful, like, reflection. And I always say, like, bring them in on it, you know, like, what is it they want to share that they think is important and allow people to. I don't know. I'm a big person. Like, how do we reflect in a group? If you don't have guidelines, that's fine. Say, like, oh, I want to do this with all of you and invite people to share, like, what Is really helpful that you want to make sure is stipulated.
Yeah.
What is it that didn't go so well that you want to make sure is accounted for here?
Yeah.
I think those conversations. When people feel you having those conversations with them, they're like, oh, you care.
Yeah.
I hate to be mean, but they also want to give you money because they know you care. Besides just like, yeah, like, oh, I'm giving you something. I'm like, oh, this person gives a shit. Like, they're here. All right. You know?
Yeah.
You know?
Yeah.
This is like, I was being coached last night, and I got the reminder that, like, I was planning on, like, changing something in my coaching container. And she's like, well, have you asked your clients? And I was like, mic drop. Yeah. I was like, no. And I feel like that's such a simple thing that we forget that you're talking about right now, too. Like, let the group inform you.
Yeah.
Sometimes I find, because I'm a recovering people pleaser.
Me and you both feel. Yeah.
That I. I feel that fear of, like, I'm going to be a burden if I'm asking for their feedback because that's not what they're here for.
And I always think of it like, I don't want to hear it because I'm a perfectionist. I'm like, oh, my God, what if they tell me something I'm not ready to face it.
Yeah.
I'm not ready to deal with it. That's one of my biggest fears of, like, oh, God, I'm gonna see this thing that I don't want to see or that I know I don't want to see that I know they're gonna say something about. So I think it's both. Yeah.
Yeah.
Well, I think.
Yeah.
One. Anyone listening? Like, if you haven't asked your group or your clients or whatever for feedback considerations, guidelines, they would want. Whatever it is. What's the story that's telling you you.
Can'T do that and also be okay with, like, saying you got busy and didn't get around to it. Because if that's it, that's okay, too. Because I don't think anybody naturally desires to seek feedback. Like, sometimes I sit in a space and I'm like, what do you guys want? Like, am I continuing membership? Like, I think you guys need this. You guys want me to create this thing. Like, because I'm a generator, I'm always, like, waiting for somebody to tell me what to respond to something.
Yeah.
And I think it's okay if you forgot, but if you need? Yeah. So I'm putting together a presentation on this for a bundle next week.
Oh, fun.
So if people want something that's actually tangible about the different ways you can gather feedback.
Yeah.
Email me or DM me. But because I'm. I love. I'm a researcher, so I love assessing.
Yeah.
And what I tell people too, is like, there's different ways to assess. You could put people in a group. You could do one on one. You could just do an assessment at the beginning and the end. You could stop right now. Like, I always stop in the middle to make them reflect.
Yeah.
Because I think that's where people often complain that they're, like, not getting what they set out to get from something. Meanwhile, it's like, well, it's your job to show them what the heck they got, though. Like, are you doing it? Like, are you, like, stopping to ask them to be like, oh, let me think about where I started. And then in your engagement with them, are you telling them, like, how far along they moved? Because, like, you're the reflection to them that they're moving. That's the beauty of teaching. Right. Because you can't always see it yourself when you're a student.
Yeah. Yes.
I'm so excited for your class. And they can DM you for it. But also we can link it up in the show notes if you have the link for it.
Yes.
So good. Okay. I want to close the loop on the six, because we can't leave the six out. And I promised we would talk about the six, though. I feel like. I feel like your six has already been so expressed in so many ways. The six profile line fascinates me. So it operates in three phases of life. One through 30 being the experimenting phase, Bumping into life, it bumping into you. Life being really messy. As a fellow six profile, I am very glad to be in the second phase.
I always say that. I told my students the other day, I said, I don't want to go back. I just want to keep going forward. I want the skin of my 20s, but I want to, like, happily jump into my 40s.
Okay. So this is fascinating because. And I haven't even finished all the phases, but I feel like this is fascinating because. Okay, just to do it in high speed. So 1 through 30, then 30 through 50 is like up on the roof perspective of all the experiments that were coming through. So this bird's eye view of, like, here are all the messy things I did in that first phase. What am I going to settle it into? And then 50 and beyond is like, full embodiment of the role model archetype and just people knowing they can come to you to really unleash and unlock that full, authentic expression of self. What I feel like is so fascinating that you just said is, I, as I said, have a six in my profile. I love aging because I love the experience of moving forward in life. And I feel like we live in a society that tells us we need to not age. We need to, like, go backwards. And I love that you just said, I just want to move forward. And. And so I'm so curious as a fellow six, if you resonate with that.
I do. I'm like, yeah, there's just something about it. Just feels like it keeps getting better.
Yes.
I'm like, it feels. Especially now because I'm in, like, my late 30s.
Yeah.
I felt like for a little while, I'm like, I'm on the precipice of something. I don't know what it is. Like, I'm like, ooh, this is exciting. Versus before, it was, like, so much confusion. How many things am I going to try? I mean, I didn't graduate my Ph.D. until I was, like, 35. And it was. And, like, now I feel like I'm still in confusion about next steps, but it still feels like, oh, this is going to be exciting. Let's see what unfolds versus the 20s was like, ooh, how many different things. What am I doing here?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
And in the. With the sixth line, like, we're really not designed to, quote, unquote, settle into things in that first phase. It can feel really jar. And gosh, the society stories that say we need to have our life figured out before we're 30, like, that could be a whole other conversation. But, like, the Sixes aren't designed to settle. They're designed to experiment. And that doesn't mean you can't settle on anything.
Yeah, but the experiment is so important.
And I feel like. I almost feel like the work you do has, like, the full expression of the six without you even, like, being in the full, like, third phase or whatever. Like, I feel like you just have this openness of, like, experiment, try it out, have that perspective, see how it lands, speak to the community, connecting back to the four, and, like, just be that role model in your space.
I appreciate you reflecting that, because it sounds like a lot of what I tell people to do when they sign up to do their courses. I'm like, can you just, like, get to work and then, like, refine it? And then, like, do it again. And you know, like, literally every step you described, I'm like, that's just what I tell people to do. Like, that's what they must do. Otherwise you don't. Especially with learning, it's just so dynamic until you take a moment back to get us. You can only get a zoomed out view when you've run it long enough. You may, you may run it two or three times. It may not give you enough of a zoomed out view based on how many people are enrolling.
Yeah.
You know, versus, like me in education. I always have 30 people there. I always, whatever. Like, I know what course I'm teaching. Like, there's a level of consistency versus when you're in business. If the people coming in, you're refining that, you're refining other things. It's going to take a while to get that. But I also appreciate you saying that because that's the question I've asked myself, I think, my whole life. Why is it not enough that this is enough? Like, why is this not even now? There are moments I don't feel it as much. About a year ago I felt it. But it's a question of, like, why is this not enough? Like, this is enough for certain people. Like, why does this still feel like. And that, that not being enough thing has to do with like, settling. Like, why can't this just be enough for me to be here? But it never feels like that's enough. And it took me a few years to be like, is that like, sick desire for accomplishment?
Yeah.
Versus now I'm just like, well, no, yo. Like, this is making life exciting. Like, yeah, different. You know, before I was like, chasing accolades and now it's like, no. Like, isn't that what makes it makes life interesting? I guess for me.
Yeah.
But I love that you said it that way. I was like, oh, that's the question I've had for a while. Like, why don't I settle?
Yeah.
What makes it impossible? Like, my. I don't know. Sometimes I'm like, what if I just accepted I was supposed to settle?
Yeah. Yeah.
I feel that as a six. And for me it's like a lot of, like, moving my, like, physical location. Like, so much of what I like to do is travel and constantly being asked, like, why haven't you bought a house yet? Like, you're in your 30s, obviously you need to have a house. The eye rolls.
Sorry, sorry. I was like waiting for you to say, like, have they asked for babies yet? You know? Of course, never Ending like, of course.
They have now you're married.
So, yeah, the requests just keep coming because I'm not yet married, and people have requested babies, and I'm like, well, yes, there is.
So, yes. Andrew and I have been together for, like, 10 years, and I feel. And I feel like there's a point in the year's timeline where people, like, give up on the marriage thing and they just then decide to skip to babies.
Are you ever, like, you're ever at the baby shower and they're like, oh, Raquel, you're in the next one.
Oh, yeah.
I'm like. I'm like, ain't nobody saying none of that.
Oh, it's. I mean, this could be a whole other hour conversation with us here.
Yes.
But just that resonance with, like, am.
I supposed to settle?
Am I doing something wrong? Because I haven't settled and now coming to this, like, it doesn't feel like I've fully landed, but I'm actually, like, okay with that.
Yeah.
That felt, like, so embodied for you when you said that. I was like, whoa, that's deep. Like, deep. Anchored in your body, in the way you sit, even, like, wow, she really believes that I was like, I want to believe that. No, I mean, it's hard for women to, like, say that and believe that.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Thank you for reflecting that. I have been saying that I feel like I was on a roller coaster, and I've, like, gotten off the roller coaster, but I'm still, like, standing next to the roller coaster, and I'm like, should I get back on? I don't know. Like, maybe I'll write it, like, halfway and then, like, take the emergency exit off. And I'm.
I don't know.
We're gonna figure it out. Oh, my goodness. This is so good. Okay, so is there anything you're feeling called to voice with that? That journey of settling, particularly when it comes to creating learning experiences?
I had an immediate response to the first half of the question, so I'm gonna go.
Yeah.
Like, is what you want based on what you desire, or is it based on what you see externally? There's something in me that's always like, oh, this thing is, like, triggering something in me. And I'm like, but is that me, though? You know, because I see certain things in my life, and I'm like, like, oh, why? I haven't figured this out enough to get that thing. And I'm like, well, you make decisions, Raquel. You make choices. You could have made that choice, but you didn't. So why yeah. And so I think it also relates to learning journey in the sense of, like, I always tell the people I work with, like, is this the way that you want it to be? Not the way that you see the mark it do it, not the way that you've seen your mentor do it. But does this, like, reflect, like, the way you desire to engage and be in relationship with people in a group? Yeah, because people feel it.
Yeah.
Feel it when it's like, not the way you want to. And that's one of the biggest things that. And that's why I love energy coaching, because it just, like, anchors you back into, like, how do we get rid of the noise and have you return to, like, your heart so you can listen to. It's whispers. Sometimes it's not whispering. It's like really talking loud.
Yep.
I love how you're. I'm like, is that a good laugh? Okay. Yeah. You're like, yeah.
Oh, yeah. A hundred percent. And yeah, I love that you always bring it back to this, like, connection to body. And, you know, actually all three of your channels and your. That are defined in your human design, which are our innate strengths, are all very, like, set in their ways. They're all. First of all, they all come from your gut. And so that gut response, just like continuous can, has continued to come up throughout this entire conversation. But they're also just, like, all very set in their ways. Like, the first one is called conviction, just like going your own way in life. The next one is called rhythm, like following your rhythm, knowing your rhythm is never too early or too late. And the third one you have is all about vision, which is all about vision and direction and naturally calling others to find their vision and direction, which I feel like is just an embodiment of what you just shared.
I appreciate you sharing that. Nobody's ever shared those things about my channels. So, yeah, they all feel so true. Like, who I am. I'm like, oh, yeah, that's me.
Raquel. Set in her ways. No way.
Who would have thought? I'm a teacher. Most of us like to be set in our ways. It's a point of comfort. We like to be in power. I don't like the word, but people, you know, we choose to guide others. Sometimes it comes from that place, but it doesn't always.
So, yeah, yeah, I.
This has been such a good conversation. No surprise at all. Also feel like could keep going for another three and a half hours with. Yeah, like, probably just could voice the 4, 6 back and forth together for, like, a solid amount of hours. So many golden nuggets though, and just like very tangible steps, but also, like, things for people to just walk with for like, days, weeks to come and just like kind of let them all unfold. So I'm just so grateful for everything that came through today and your. Your openness to just share your beautiful gifts of teaching, your beautiful gifts of pulling wisdom out and even those maybe not always feeling so beautiful but worth it in the end. Gifts of, like, getting feedback.
It's hard to accept and receive feedback. It's really hard.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. And I feel like you just really express, like, how important it is to the learning experiences.
Yeah. And I also want to remind people, like, in that moment you receive feedback. I'm always like, so grateful. Like, wow, they took the time. Like, that's a level of care. No matter what the feedback says, it's like, wow, you cared enough to want to let me know something and I have to remember and take it also from there because it's hard as a person who wants to, like, make sure everything is right to be ready to receive that.
So, yeah, I love that.
Thank you so much.
