This is a podcast episode titled "The Energy Of Receiving (Jessica Session 5)" recorded in November 2024. It features a coaching session between Megan Siemens, the host and coach, and a client named Jessica. The session explores the emotional and energetic aspects of receiving, including themes of self-worth, being seen, and the balance between giving and receiving. The conversation is introspective and therapeutic, focusing on somatic and energetic awareness to help Jessica overcome resistance to receiving in her personal and professional life.
Foreign. Welcome to the Clarity corner where you'll discover how to unlock and express the most authentic version of you and realize that this is exactly what you were looking for the entire time. I'm your host and your coach, Megan Siemens. Now let's make some magic happen. Hi friend. Welcome back to the show. I'm so glad you're here. Today we have a session with Jessica and in this session we are exploring the energy of receiving and we move into an energy coaching session today. About eight, ten minutes in to the session today. And if you've never experienced energy coaching or you're not quite sure what it is, it is an eyes closed experience, usually eyes closed, where we explore somatically, energetically the topic that's coming up. It takes us a layer deeper from the mind, gets us back into our body and there's several different ways we can enter into an energy coaching experience today. In Jessica's experience, we explore her inner reality. We explore in her body because she's having a lot of physical sensations when it comes to the energy of receiving. And so I don't pop in in the middle of today's session just to honor kind of the energetic space of this series. It might be a little bit jarring if I just popped in in the middle of this one. So what I'm going to invite you to do is one, to lean back and really be the observer of this experience while also bringing some of these considerations along with you. I'm going to give you some considerations that you can bring into the start of this experience. Maybe you jot a few of these down if there's like one or two that really stands out to you. Or maybe you just keep these top of mind as we're moving through the experience together. Consider what is your relationship with receiving? Think about the ebb and flow of giving and receiving. How do the two of those feel for you? Do they feel connected or disconnected? Do they feel harmonized or jumbled? Do you maybe lean into one of those more often than the other? Think about all of the different ways you receive in your life. Is there a certain area that receiving feels a little fuzzy or a little quote, harder for you? How does receiving feel in your body? Is there a sensation, a physical sensation, even just hearing the word receiving? Notice, is there a spot in your body that like tightens up, tenses up? Or is there a spot in your body that opens up? And then consider, what am I making it mean when I allow myself to receive fully? These are some considerations you can bring along with you. For the journey, you can either pause and jot a few of those down or just trust that your subconscious is holding exactly what it needs to in this experience. And with that, enjoy today's session. As always, we love to hear from you. You can send me either an email after the session today or DM me over on Instagram and share how it was being the observer of this experience and if anything came through for you around the energy of receiving. Welcome back. How are you today?
Wonderful. Grateful. Grateful. Love it.
So good.
How are you?
Oh, I'm good. I'm full of joy today.
That's a fun one. I love that.
Yeah. So last session, we talked about exploring the energy of receiving. Does this feel like it's still a true place for you to explore, or is there something else coming up today?
Yeah, definitely. I want to dig deeper into. Into receiving, and I feel like it's kind of along the same lines of, like, being seen.
Okay. Okay, so we'll dive into that. Before we do, I want to check in with how your challenge is going.
We're. We're at 20. I also didn't, like, try this week. I guess it's probably the best word choice.
Is. Is it the best word choice? Is it true that you didn't try?
No.
See how that. See how clear that was Right away, though, you were like, no, it's not true. And, like, there have been moments before where you're like, no, that actually feels true. Like, that was so clear. Like, no, that's not true.
Yeah. So, like, I guess the truth is I personally didn't try, but, like, my VA did post about it every day, so, yeah, so there's that. So, like, I. My business tried.
Yeah.
Might be energy.
And yes, there's 100. An energetic element into this. And something we talked about in Voxer in between is so much of what you want to set your business up around is being able to be hands off sometimes so that you can be with Corbin, so that you can be with your family. And so the reminder that you put things in place and you trust that those are working.
Yeah. So maybe I didn't trust this week. That's a potential.
Is it true?
Maybe. So I haven't really connected with it to know if that's true or not.
Yeah. What we do know is true is that you've sold 22 or. Well, I'm claiming it as is.
Thank you.
You've sold 20 bucks in a challenge of 22.
Correct. And we're like, I don't know what day we're on. But we're. We're not at 22 days yet.
Yeah. Two more books.
So I still have time. Yeah. And I know who's buying the books.
Yeah.
So, like, they're. They're sold. They're just not. Like, the exchange hasn't happened, but they're sold in my head, so that's great.
And how does it all feel? Like, putting the focus and the heart back onto your books? How does all of that feel?
It feels very easy. Like, even though I haven't sold books last week, actually, I haven't checked Amazon, to be honest, so there is a chance that I have sold books. Don't know about it, but it. It feels a lot easier than I thought it would. I think there's still that disconnect of receiving.
Okay.
Yeah. With, like, receiving. So, like, Amazon doesn't pay me for, like, 90 days. So, like, it's not like I'm gonna see the sales, which is fine. And I'm okay with that. And there's, like, that, like. Well, you know, I didn't make that money this month. Like, that piece of, like. Or, like, the disconnect on, like, you know, people saying they were going to buy this many books and only bought this many books or. Which we talked about last time.
Yeah.
So I think there's a lot of ease and resistance, both and happening.
Yeah. I love the awareness around that of, like, they're both here. And I can acknowledge both and I can lean into the ease and I can amplify the ease. And also I can give myself the space to work through the resistance, which is what we're going to do today.
Yay.
Yeah. So good. And I'm just going to voice, before we go into that, that one of your action steps is going to be to check Amazon after we get off of this. You don't have to do it. Yeah.
Right now. I know I want it. I'm not going to. I'm opening up our. Our doc.
So just checking Amazon, seeing where you're at.
Yeah.
Seeing if it's.
If it's already here, which is very possible.
Okay. So let us shift this perfect segue into the energy of receiving, the energy of being seen. Just. Why don't you just share what's. What's coming up around that for you?
So we talked a bit about this in Boxer and, like, me turning red when I'm being seen. And yesterday. So my. My wedding ring is at Costco currently. I mean, I don't know if the real thing's bought yet, but I know that it is at Costco, and we visit it once a week, and I get to try it on. And it's my visitation currently until he proposes. It's very fun. So yesterday was visitation day, and I was trying on my ring, and I'm just, like. Every time I sit, like, oh, my gosh, it's so big. It's so, like, beautiful. I love it so much. And Kelton goes, should we practice? Oh, my gosh. Like a wave, like a waterfall of just, like, nerves hit me. And, like, my brain was like, what if he's actually proposing right now? And how do I know the difference between real and fake? And. And I was just like, no, no. And I looked at, like, the lady that works there who, like, knows, and I'm probably never gonna see again in my life. And I just, like, got so nervous, like, she's gonna see me get proposed to, even though it's fake. And, like, I just. I felt the redness, like, just. Just, like, take over my body. And something we talked about in Voxer was like, I'm in control of my body. So I kept saying that, and I was just repeating in my head, I'm in control of my body. I'm in control of my body. I'm in control of my body. And then the redness was just, like, overpowering. So it was the most perfect example. And that couldn't have happened at a better time because we visit it all the time, and he's never asked that question before. So I was like, you know, not coincidence, but, you know, good. Good timing because he had no idea what we were working on. So, yeah, it was. It was good awareness on, like, there is something more to work on. On this.
Yeah. Tell me what makes the connection point? What is the connection point for you around receiving and being seen?
So, I mean, with the ring is like, receiving this giant ring that's so bold. And, like, I've always been a person to, like, live small, and that's, like, my past self, and I want to leave that in the past. And also shifting into this new, bolder self is very scary. So it's like receiving this giant ring and being seen with this giant ring and then being seen with, like, being proposed to. Like, if he was practicing in, like, who cares that these random strangers see? And if he does propose anywhere but, you know, like, outside random strangers, we'll see. So, like, that's that sense with, like, the proposal piece of being seen and receiving. And then, like, my books is, like, the. I think the receiving, like, I guess what's coming up is like, am I worthy of. Of making money for something that's helping people? Like, why? Like, I just want to help people. I just want. I just want all the children in the world to have coping skills. And like, why should people have to pay me for that? Like, why am I worthy to be paid for? Goodness gracious. I didn't realize this. This is deep. Um, yeah. So there's that piece on like getting paid for it and then being seen on, like, when I get paid for it and I'm successful. The scene of being successful and. And this would like, showed up on the call.
Your.
Your comfort zone mastery call was like the family. So like, how my family is going to view me once I am successful because I'm always like, known as like the poor. Well, the. I don't know. That's how I view myself, that they view me. Which is probably just a story, but yeah.
So it feels like it sounds like when you receive, you will be seen. That's the connection in your mind.
Correct.
When you receive, you are going to be seen. When you receive, you are going to take up space.
Yes.
So it feels like receiving is like the trigger to the fear.
Yeah, it's kind of really fast on the taking up space piece that has shown up recently with people buying my book is like taking up space. So like the. The Crystal store that bought my book bought say like 12 instead of 15 or something. And like, so now I'm taking up less space on their shelf. So that that came up to me was like, maybe that's why they're purchasing lessons. Because then I'm taking up less space even though I'm not my books, but like making that connection.
Mm. Yeah. Yeah. So let me ask you when you. Because we did in Voxer, in our. In between, we did a little work with your timeline and then connected it back into your body. And when you put that into practice, did you feel close to or far away from your body?
I want to go with close to.
What did that feel like?
I don't remember. Okay, specifics. That's okay.
Do you feel. When you're in the space of receiving, do you feel connected or disconnected from yourself?
So disconnected is the first. Like, is what's like shouting. But then there's the connected piece on like the redness and like, like I. I'm also in my body noticing, like that I'm super red. But then I also feel disconnected at the same time.
Okay. Okay. Okay. And which feels more true? It's scary to step into the Bold or it's scary to receive.
Scary to receive. Okay.
Okay, great. Let's explore, shall we?
Yeah. Yes, please.
Great. Not in the sense of like, this might not feel very great to you, but great. We're getting clear.
Yay. Yay. For clarity. Yeah.
Okay, so I'll invite you to either close your eyes or gaze down, whichever feels good for you. And just taking a moment and taking a breath, taking a beat. Giving your mind such great gratitude because your mind has done a lot of work, and your mind does a lot of work when it comes to the energy of receiving. And then maybe gently inviting your mind to maybe, like, nestle into a little cozy hammock. Like, gonna go on a little bit of a vacation for these next few moments together, giving it permission to relax. Yeah. There's like a big exhale there. Just feeling the goodness of having nothing excess to do right now. You get to observe. You get to be taking this next breath to call yourself to yourself, Gathering any energy left in different locations, spaces, or time periods, calling yourself all the way in and then calling forward the energy of receiving. Is there a space in your body that. That lives?
My throat's where I felt it immediately.
What do you feel.
Like? Tightness.
Is there anything else you notice about this space?
It clogged.
What's clogged? Is there a container? Is out there a way that receiving comes in.
Related to my throat or.
Different staying with that throat area?
I mean, specifically, like. Like, it feels like my whole throat is just like clogged all the way to the top and it's like overflowing. Cloggedness.
Yeah. Is it all feeling or is there any, like, color or texture or temperature or weight that you notice?
The texture is like. Like gooey. Like, this is so gross. Like. Like thick, mucusy. But, like. Like thick gross. Like really gross. Like, that's. It's like the biggest thing that's coming to. Like, it's just like.
Yeah, yeah. Just like letting it be gross. Like, it just feels a little gross right now. It just feels a little yucky. And does the energy of receiving feel a little gross, a little yucky right now?
Yeah. Yeah.
What is the energy of receiving want to say right now? Maybe not what it thinks it should say, but what does it want to say right now?
I don't know.
How true is that in itself, though? I don't know. I don't know. Just let, I don't know, kind of vibrate through. I don't know. I don't know. How else would you finish that sentence. What do you not know?
What the receiving wants to tell me versus should tell me. I guess that's the. I don't know is like I don't know the difference between what's want and should.
Well, what do you know?
So family is coming to mind. Like, like I was raised to not receive. I'm keeping like reminding to put my, my mind in the hammock because keep showing up. I guess like when, and this probably isn't my own story, but like when growing up was like when we'd have money, it was, it was always gone immediately. Like we lived in a four bedroom house and then right after that we lived in a homeless shelter because money just wasn't spent correctly. Maybe that's the story I tell myself at least. So the fear of like if I receive money it's not going to be spent correctly and then I'm gonna just end up back where I'm at. So what's the point of receiving money?
Yeah. Yeah. And so you clog it up.
And maybe even which the fear of like getting divorced because what's the point of which I want to get married more than anything but like maybe there's that fear of like receiving that ring. It's like what if I, I lose it in the sense of getting divorced.
Yeah. So the underlying question here feels like what's the point? Like what's the point of receiving? So I'm going to clog it all up because what's the point of letting it come in. Yeah. Staying with that throat area. The maybe opposite side of the spectrum of receiving is giving. Is that energy present here too or does it live somewhere else?
Giving lives in the heart.
Not a far venture from the throat.
It's true. Well said.
We'll just keep that awareness there as maybe something that can support the receiving channel opening up a little bit more. What is the emotion that's coming up right now wanting to say.
Sad.
Yeah. What does the sadness have to say?
It's just sad. I'm like what's the point? Like that just is that brings up a lot of tears.
Yeah, yeah. I'm noticing you even like having a gentle hand on your throat center right now.
Yeah. It feels so clogged.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I'm like rubbing it like.
Yeah, yeah. Bringing that touch in as support, as a reminder that you're safe and you're held. That's even a tool you can bring in real life when you're in that energy of receiving, knowing you can bring that gentle touch to your throat.
I like that.
And as you begin to bring that, that gentle touch in, maybe even a little gentle slight rub, if that does continue to feel good, how might you start to move this clog? Like, would you bring in a little plunger? Would you bring in a little vacuum? Would you wash it away? Like, what might you do to bring in this to start to move this clog?
It's like my initial thing is like rubbing it like clean, but then I feel like I'm just like bringing the clog down, which is what feels good. But then it's also like energetically doesn't feel good, but physically feels good.
So what about in the energetic space, what would you bring in?
I guess like a. What else? So like plungers. Like, I don't like plungers.
You get to pick this as your, your field. So you can bring anything from fairies to light to color.
Now, now we're talking. I like fairies and I like light or color. Like color. Like bright. And I liked the water, like washing it away.
You had a whole team coming in, whole cleanup crew.
Yeah, that sounds about right.
They're starting to bring that into your awareness. The fairies, the light, the colors. It feels like multiple colors coming through. The sensation of water washing over. And as you do, let's bring that question forward. The question that was holding the clog. What's the point? And start answering it. What's the point?
In the positive or negative, Whatever comes.
Up, we're going to answer it many times.
Okay, what's the point? Giving Corbin the life I didn't have.
What's the point?
Just being able to be my favorite self.
What's the point?
My authentic self. Being happy, like genuinely joyful and happy and like sitting in it and being in it. Being able to travel. Being able to have my beach house. Being able to. This is a big one. Like my big visions on, like opening up a homeless shelter and opening up a. An apartment complex for aged out foster youth. Those are just like such big visions. So those ones, like, are really. They feel forever away. Being able to travel and just like do experiences without. Ooh, without thinking about money, which goes to like being able to order anything off the menu and not worry about money. So like from big to small things, be able to help people. Like, like, yeah, that one, it feels good, but they're still blocked. With that one, I'll be able to receive with that.
What's. What's the point?
What's the point? I mean, the point is being able to help people. What's the point of me Receiving while we're helping people.
Where's the. Where's the block when you tune into that one specifically? Like, is there a direction? Is there a certain point?
Maybe, like, fear of not helping them or them? Like, purchasing my book and then being disappointed.
So what if you just notice that support squad, the cleaning crew, the fairies, the light, the colors coming and washing over that. Let's take a pause here, a breath, and take a moment to observe that. That throat area, that throat space. What do you notice about it now?
It still feels clogged, but not as clogged.
What do you know about receiving now?
I mean, there's lots of good things, but I feel like I already knew all these good things.
What do you know that you didn't know before?
That's the fun question. What do I know that I didn't know before my throat is clogged? That I feel it in my throat? Maybe it also has to do with being heard. My throat is my voice. That is very true.
Aren't you using your voice right now.
When you say it like that? Yes. And it feels good to use my voice right now. I feel safe to use my voice right now, though. And maybe my voice doesn't always feel safe. So, like, my books is me using my voice. And maybe there's the fear of, like, being heard and seen through my books.
Yeah. I'm wondering if mine's come back online, because I'm hearing a lot of maybe it might not be true. It's yours.
I think it's true. All right, let's put them back in the hammock. Yeah.
Just hearing all those maybes and even honoring how much mind comes in when receiving is present. And notice how you leaned into initially moving the energy of the clog down away from mind. Not that you need to move the clog up towards mind. Mind is very important. But I wonder if this is where we can bring in that heart space, that giving energy, and start to build a connection, start to build a bridge, starting to connect giving and receiving. How would you connect those two spaces?
So what's coming to. Like, I love to give. Like, I give my book away plenty, happily, easily, effortlessly. And I. But I want. And I want to give more. Like, I want to give, like, my family things with money. I want to have money to be able to spoil my family.
What is going to open up the space for you to give more to receiving money? Yeah.
But then, like, am I taking? So I know this isn't true, but I still am going to voice it, My taking From others, to give to others. Like Peter Pan. But Peter Pan was good. I don't know. A real story.
Yeah. I think this. This is where that connection comes in. So can you connect giving and receiving? Can you know that they can work in harmony?
I guess. Like, where's the positive from the person that I'm taking money from? Like, I'm not taking money, but there's a feeling of taking money. I think my dad created that one.
Yeah.
I'm playing the blame game.
Mind has entered the chat again.
Okay.
Here'S a question. What if taking and receiving weren't connected?
They're not connected. Taking and receiving is not connected. That's the question.
That is the question. What if they weren't for you?
So what is. What is taking then, if it's not receiving for the other person? For me.
Yeah. What. What's the difference to you when you hear taking and receiving?
Taking is such like a. Like you're stealing in a sense. Which, like, I don't feel like I've ever stolen. Like, I'm not.
It feels yucky. It feels gross.
So yucky. Claw on this.
Yeah. Yes.
So, like, I want to not take. I just want to receive. But, like, so what is the opposite? Like, so, okay with the person that pays me, what am I. So is it just receiving? Am I just receiving from them?
Think about how much you love to give.
Yeah.
Feel that in your heart, how much you love to give. Give. In many ways, you love to give your book away. You love to give money towards programs and services and coaches that you love. You love to give that. Do you believe that there's other people out there that love to give in that same way?
Yeah. And another thing that came to mind when you said I love to give is like. And I've. I've told you this before. Like, with Corbin, we were. Instead of hugs, we say oxytocin. Can I have some oxytocin? Because, like, hugs release oxytocin, which is giving. So, like, when I give to others, it releases oxytocin. So others giving to me releases oxytocin. That maybe. Maybe that's mine. Maybe.
It feels like truth. It feels like what you need to know.
Yeah.
That when others give to you, it releases oxytocin.
So by me not allowing them to give to me, I'm taking from in the opposite way. Does that make sense?
Let's just check in with that space for a moment. How does the clog feel as this lands in?
It feels really good. Feels. I mean, there's Still a clog, but it's, like, a lot better. There's no more overflowingness now. It's just like a light clog.
Yeah. What would you say the key is that you needed to know to kind of clear that overflow out the excess?
The taking was a big piece that I didn't realize.
Yeah. And what's the difference between taking and receiving?
I feel like that's where the light clog is. I don't really know the difference yet, but I know there's a difference. Like, I know that, like, taking is yucky.
Mm.
To me. And receiving is beautiful.
Yeah, that right there. Receiving is beautiful. Receiving is beautiful. That came from you. Receiving is beautiful. Let those words land. Receiving is beautiful. Continuing to repeat that and letting those words themselves take away any excess.
Yeah, I feel it.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Letting it wash away. Receiving is beautiful. Letting it build a bridge between the heart and the throat. The give and the receive. Receiving is beautiful. Letting it mend the cracks. Breathing it all in. Knowing it's all within you. Zooming yourself out a little from that space. Becoming aware of your entire body, your entire being. Taking some deep, nourishing breaths. And in your own time, whenever you are ready. Receiving each inhale, releasing each exhale, coming on back to the screen in your own time.
How are you grateful?
Now you get to walk with this. So you've freed some of that clog. You know that receiving versus taking, that it's. It's. It's clear and also feels like it needs a little exploration. And so I'll invite you to have that as your experiment this week. Like, notice everything you receive. You receive an inhale. You maybe receive a snack handed to you throughout the day. You receive a text message from a friend. You receive a payment coming through for your book. You receive all kinds of things throughout the day. And so noticing what receiving feels like, how it lands, and then letting the receiving flow through you in that reminder of receiving is beautiful.
Let the receiving flow through me. Reminder that receiving is beautiful. I like that. I like the flow.
Yeah. Well, if you think about give and receive, like it is a flow to flow in. It's a flow out. It's a flow in, it's a flow out. So it has a flow to it. The give, the receive.
Yeah.
How do you feel about receiving now?
Excited is the word that comes to mind.
Okay. Excited to.
See.
Not a question.
Excited to receive and just be aware of it. Like. Like separating taking and receiving. I had no idea until this session of, like, that connection that I had at all. Like, that was totally, like, in the dark. So just. Yeah, just like. Like you said, like my homework. Like, to just notice the receiving. All the receiving moments. Like, I'm excited to have those awarenesses. Yeah.
Yeah, I love that. And in honor of clearing some more of that taking energy, it might be a fun, fun time. I love when the words fun and great come into the discomfort. It might be a time for you to use. I know we've done this exercise together. At some point, we usually do it with limiting beliefs. Burning. Burning of the limiting beliefs, where you write the limiting beliefs on paper and burn them away. You can also just tear them up. But if you want to use fire, please use it in a safe way.
Disclaimer.
Writing out the things you feel like you're taking and letting them go. Burning them away, tearing them up. No longer being available for that energy and shifting that energy into the flow of receiving.
It's interesting because, like, not much shows up for that, like, what I'm taking other than people's money, which I don't want, and I don't have to take their money because they're giving it to me. I'm not taking.
Great. But you might not need the exercise at all. Give it a whirl.
Yeah, I'm gonna sit with that one.
Yeah.
And maybe that's all. That's it. Just people's money and then just rip that one.
Yeah, totally. 100%. Yeah. And the great news is we know you've sold some books, and so there's some money to be received. And so really practicing and leaning into amplifying that.
How is what's coming up? Like, how do I. Yeah, how do I amplify that?
Yeah. I mean, it can be as simple as, like, looking at the amount and, like, feeling it and letting it feel bigger and bigger and bigger and bigger.
I like that. Yeah, that feels good.
And you can experiment with, like, what else does amplifying feel like for me?
Yeah. Celebrating.
Yeah. It's so, like, celebration is a tool in the toolkit that should never get older, stale. It's so supportive for. It's so supportive for our nervous system. Yes, celebrating can help, like, our manifestations, but it also can make our nervous system feel really safe. When we're in the celebration and we're amplifying, it creates this stability instead of, like, the rush or the pressure to go to the next or the desire to, like, excavate it or dig into it. Let me just be here and let me just celebrate it and create some stability in My inner system.
I love that because that's like I sold one book and just celebrating instead of being like, but I didn't sell two or when's the next book gonna sell?
Yes.
Yes. Yeah.
Yeah.
That feels good. Great.
So good.
I feel so grounded right now. It's just like. Just like, ah, feels so good. Yeah.
Yeah. You're so welcome. And also invite you to connect that grounded feeling to receiving.
Receiving, groundedness.
You just sure. You can absolutely be receiving groundedness. And you just received this session together. Right. You gave yourself the space to receive all of that. You open up to receive whatever was going to come through and you're feeling grounded in that. Yeah.
Yeah. I'm gonna make a list and this is the first thing on my list of what I'm receiving.
I love that. So good. A receiving list.
Yeah.
Yeah.
That sounds fun.
That sounds so fun. And another way to amplify. So good.
It's true.
Yeah. Beautiful. Is there anything else to feel complete today?
