In this product demo, Mehul Nariyawala explains the design philosophy behind Matic’s mess‑free cleaning system. The core innovation is a large HEPA bag that eliminates dust plumes when emptied and notifies users when it’s full. The bag’s capacity varies: about 10 days‑1 month for vacuum‑only use (even with pet hair) and roughly a week‑1 month when vacuuming and mopping. The robot also features an integrated water tank, a top‑down camera, and an on‑device display that announces upcoming cleaning modes (carpet, hard floor, kitchen) and sends alerts to the phone. When the bag is full, the robot automatically locates the user’s trash can via its camera, remembers the position (including geotagging for hidden cans), and navigates to it so the user only needs to drop the bag into the bin. The overall goal is a simple, user‑friendly, and autonomous cleaning experience.

And that was one of the thought processes that, hey, can we just make it simple, mess-free cleaning system where you don't want to try to empty the bin and have entire dirt plume blow at you or a bunch of things fall down the thing. So that's where the bag is a really— bag is something we really spend time building and designing so that for users, it's just a very simple thing. It tells you when the bag is full. And then, you know, we also designed it so that if you're just vacuuming, even with pet hair, will last about 10 days to 1 month. If you're vacuuming and mopping, lasts about a week to 1 month as well. So it's actually considerable size. And even the water tank— And how does it tell you that it needs to be changed? It just tells you. There is a display right on the robots. Unlike— and that was also part of the puzzle that, you know, not only we added a camera-based system, which is slightly higher vantage point so it can see top down, but we added a display on it. So any given time it tells you, hey, I am about to clean a carpet, or I'm about to clean your hard surface, or I'm going to the kitchen. It gives you all this information so you don't to pick up your phone and say, what's going on? And then it just sends you an alert on the phone or on the display saying that, hey, my bag is full, can you change it? And when the bag is full, it also remembers where your trash can is and just comes by. So all you have to do is just pick it up and throw it to the trash. And that's automatic? That's automatic. So it figures out where my trash can is? Yes, it can detect. Because it has a camera? It has a camera. So just like any other system, because it has a camera, it knows. I love you guys. It also, you can also, you know, and if your trash can is hidden behind cabinet, you can just point a location and it will remember. So you can geotag it.
