In this informal YouTube clip, the owners discuss the distinct personalities and habits of their two cats, Melville and Maddox, and how each reacts to cleaning devices. Melville, a 12‑year‑old orange male, loves hard edges, sprinting at 3 am, and baked goods like croissants and pizza crust, and is currently on a weight‑loss journey. When introduced to the robot vacuum (Matic), he was initially curious, sniffed it, and now tolerates it as another household object. By contrast, traditional vacuums trigger a strong avoidance response—he darts under beds or into closets and stays hidden until the noise stops, ranking only behind vet visits as his least favorite thing. Maddox, the other cat, is largely indifferent to the robot vacuum; he walks past it, tolerates its noise, and coexists peacefully, which the owners note improves his mental well‑being. The segment highlights the varied feline responses to household technology and offers lighthearted observations about cat quirks and health.

Baked goods, particularly croissants and pizza crust. Yeah. So Melville the cat is our perfect son. He's a 12-year-old orange boy, and he loves sharp— or not sharp, but hard corners, things like edges of an iPhone or remote control to nap on. He loves sprinting at 3 o'clock in the morning, baked goods, particularly croissants and pizza crust. And he's on his weight loss journey right now. Yeah. First off, I think we opened it up and he was a little curious, sniffed it, and now it's just another thing in the house that exists.
Yeah, with a regular vacuum, Melville is definitely running under a bed, running into a closet, and he stays there until he's sure that it's gone and put away.
Yeah.
Um, Maddox, he's— he'll walk right next to it or walk past it. It's not loud enough to bother him. He's interested in it. He doesn't want to, like, be friends with it, but he's fine with it coexisting existing in his space, which is a big improvement in terms of just like his mental health and like how he feels.
Traditional vacuums are his second least favorite thing. Number one is going to the vet.
