In this video, the presenter conducts a comprehensive audit of Odiinaka’s travel blog, offering a blend of design, usability, SEO, and content strategy recommendations. The audit begins with front‑page layout suggestions, urging the relocation of the “About You” section higher on the page and a stronger personal introduction to establish credibility. The presenter critiques the free‑bie CTA for lacking clarity, recommends uniform button sizing, and suggests using compelling images on the shop button. Page‑speed concerns are highlighted, with advice to compress large hero images, use FastPixel for image optimization, and employ caching plugins such as WP Rocket. SEO tooling is discussed, including PageSpeed Insights, GTmetrix, All‑in‑One SEO, Rank Math, and keyword research via Keysearch. The speaker stresses the importance of precise keyword placement (title, URL, first 100‑150 words, meta description) and avoiding duplicate content. Content structure advice includes converting the generic blog page into a destination‑based silo, using content silos, adding FAQs with schema, and interlinking posts to create a spider‑web of relevance. Competitive analysis is demonstrated with domain authority (DA) checks, word‑count comparisons, and keyword difficulty assessments, guiding the creator to target long‑tail keywords and improve post length. Additional recommendations cover author schema, an author box, clearer media‑kit access, better affiliate integration, and a stronger newsletter call‑to‑action. Throughout, the presenter balances technical instructions with strategic storytelling, aiming to boost user experience, search visibility, and monetisation potential.

Hey guys, so this is an audit I'm doing of Odeneka's blog. I'm gonna apologize if I've said your name wrong. I'm gonna call you Odi if that's okay. Hopefully I haven't totally butchered your name. Either way, I apologize and thank you for reaching out about having me audit your blog. I'm really excited to do this and also to share it with other people so they can kind of get an idea of what I've been doing that's working for me and hopefully use it for your own purposes too. Improve your own blog. So I've got some notes. So if I look down, that's what it is, but let's go get started and yeah, let's go. So on the front page, I would actually, I know you have like an about you section right here. I would move that up. I feel like you're kind of like, you know, not optimizing your space up here. Yeah. You got your intro, but you have so much room that you could put that other about you section. In that section, I would also talk more about yourself. Like why should we listen to you? Are you a frequent solo traveler? Have you been to X amount of countries? What's your perspective that's different than anybody else that is gonna give us a reason to be like, oh, I trust her because— like, think about that. Like, for me, it's usually like the amount of countries I've been to, or that I'm usually solo, so like I know what the experience is of a solo female traveler. Just give us some of your expertise here. The freebie button I see you have right here That's good, but like, what is the freebie? Like, I don't know what I'm signing up for if I click on it, so I'm not really kind of interested in clicking on it because I'm not sure what I'm signing up for. Because I assume this goes to something. Let's just see what it goes to. Grab your free guide, Venice Guide to Traveling Miles and Points. Go on adventures without the finance. So this is good, like, but like, give me some hint of that on the front page because why else am I clicking on get your freebie? Like, I don't know what I'm going for. And people don't really want to click on things that they don't know what they're— because I immediately assumed it was going to be some kind of sign-up thing, then I would just have to give you my email for whatever reason. I don't know what I'm getting out of it. So that would be my recommendation there. These buttons, maybe it's just like my Type A-ness, but like, A, I think they should all be the same size. I know this is more words and that's why it's showing up, but shrink the font a little bit or something so that they get the same size. I would also make them like images, like the shop, like have a nice— you have such nice photos of yourself. If you're selling this dress or something like that in your shop, put that in there, you know? And you can put like a little bit of filter on it so that the text pops, but like give me an idea what's in there. Like right now I'm like, I don't know, it's a shop, you know? Just, just, you have so many nice images. I, I can't imagine that you don't have something of your, yourself in your shop there. Again, I would move this intro up like I said before, just because I feel like I get to know you a little bit better here, you know, and you want to immediately entice people into getting to know you better. Something I'm going to do right now is run your page speed because these big spaces here sometimes take up a lot of page speed. So that's one thing I'm also going to test for you. And this is free page speed. Run by Google. You can use, um, there's another one called GTX Matrix. I always like think it's wrong. GTmetrix. You can also run it, but it's only a certain amount of them are free per month unless you pay for it. So I usually use PageSpeed Insights just because it's run by Google and it's free and I can run it 8 million times if I want to. So your accessibility, best practices, SEO are actually pretty good. Your performance, not so great. So based on this, this is, you're gonna have the same problem I do. Largest content paint element, largest contentful paint element. I always call it wrong. It's because you have that big image up top. I have that same problem. So if you can shrink that image at all, I would say do it. If not, sign up for, uh, image compression. Um, the one I have is FastPixel. It does my cache, but also does my images in one plugin. It is free up to a certain amount of views. I have too many views, so I have to pay for it, but it's actually not that bad. I want to say it's like $10 to $20 a month, and it'll help you with your images and then also caching. This is a lot of CSS. If you don't have like WordPress Rocket or something like that optimizing your stuff, I would get one of those too. For anybody watching, I have links to all this in my free travel blog guide. You can find it I'll show you where on my page, just so you're like, "Hey, what is she— all this stuff she's talking about, where can I find it?" If you go to my Traveler Blogger Guide, and right over here I have everything like linked super easily. So there's the FastPixel I was talking about, and then I don't know why I have WordPress Rocket over here, but if you scroll down, you'll definitely find WordPress Rocket. But basically it helps optimize your site and make it run faster because not only Google doesn't like that, that a site is slow, but people, like, think of any website you've ever been to and if it takes like 10 seconds to load, you're like over it already, right? You just want your answer. Okay, that's Google Tag Manager. Yeah, so I have State 22 and this doesn't show up as well. I wonder if that's 'cause WordPress Rocket. Fonts will help, I think will help that WordPress Rocket. Um, I don't know. I think WordPress Rocket would help that as well. I'm not super expert on this stuff, but like I said, I've used other stuff. The image thing, it, it would help with like a FastPixel. Same thing with serve images in next-gen formats. Um, this is cache. Yeah. Like I said, WordPress Rocket would help that as well as the properly sized images and the differing off-screen images. Um, so I would like, like I said, check out FastPixel. That'll do your images and your cache. Um, if you wanted to start with that one, then like I said, it's free up to a certain amount of views. And see if that helps your score, I would do that. WordPress Rocket, you have to pay for either way. Figure out where I was. I like the quote there. I have one of mine as well. Recent posts to the blog. This is nice. The only thing I would say is maybe add like a little blurb at the bottom, just give people a little more info, but that's like not a requirement. That's just a me thing. Shop my products. Because you only have the one here, either center it or like maybe just wait until you have some more, just because it looks like a little funky. Again, that's just a me thing, that's not like an SEO thing. Work with me. Okay, that's fine. These are a few of my favorite things. I— you— it's so far down, I don't know if you quite need this, or maybe add this to the bottom of your About You section, just because it's starting to feel like this homepage is kind of long. Like, if I wasn't doing this for you, I probably wouldn't scroll this far down. Um, um, grab your free itineraries. Yeah, maybe move this up too. This is a plugin. I know I used to have this one too. Sometimes it slows down your site, just an FYI. Um, you're welcome to keep it, it's up to you. Just, just know that like sometimes it does slow down your site because it's pulling it from Instagram. Let's move to the About page. Travel group creator based in Canada. That's good. I like the whole one, you know, line intro. Again, with the spacing, it might just, you know, eat up space. Also, I've had people who are like, oh, I thought it was the end of the page because there was so much space in the bottom. So just, just be aware of that. Again, not like it, it's gonna make a million page views if you do that one change. It's just more of an aesthetic thing. I would add images to this section because if I'm just scrolling past quickly, I'm not gonna know this is food or this is a place. So I would add a couple more images if you have it. This big section on like visit the blog with your image. A, it's not clickable. I see, I know you have the button here, but I would just remove it. Like, I don't, you have the link to the blog here. Nina by SheKnowsSEO, who basically is like my, I don't know, Yoda of SEO knowledge. She says we don't even need a blog page. What I would replace your blog page with is a destinations page. I know you don't have as many locations or blog posts as I do yet, but if you look at like my destinations page, it lists all the countries. So like let's say I'm just looking for my des— there. So this is my destinations page. Basically, I kind of took this formatting a little bit from Nomadic Matt. He's been doing this for eons, so I kind of like go for him if I'm like looking to be like, oh, how would people like to have this sorted? So again, I know you don't have as many like destinations or posts as much as I do right now. I have over 100 of them, but I would start even start building it out because like, look, if I'm just going to your page to look about stuff about Nairobi, it's not organized by Nairobi here. It's just the blog, right? So I would then have to search in here to go find it. You just want to make it, like, hand it to people as easy as possible. So I would change that blog page to destinations page and sort it by either country. Like, I just added this section for regional travel guides for mine because I have so much Europe. I'm starting to build out Central America because I've got Belize up there. I'm going to be adding Mexico soon. I'm like super behind on posts right now. North America, I know, um, and then Asia. I'm so behind on like not having my Thailand stuff up. So that's why I said coming soon. But these are all clickable, people can go to it quickly. And then because I have so many European destinations, I did this like postcard style menu. And that's mostly because I wanted to link to the pages. And that's for content silos, which I'll talk about a little bit later. So don't worry if you don't know what I'm talking about for content silos. That's another thing I learned from Nina at SheKnowsSEO. But basically, yeah, so this way, like if somebody's like, I just want to know about Ireland, All they gotta do is click on this and they'll be taken to all my Ireland posts. They don't have to sort through and figure out where it is. So I would highly recommend swapping this blog page out for something like that. Just like I said, because if I'm only looking for Nairobi and I don't care about, let's look for another New York on here, then I'm easily getting it back to the about page. Something I noticed is some of this text is kind of similar. So like my goal is to keep it real and simply share my travel experiences. If we go back to the about page, keep it real and share my travel experiences. Just make sure you're changing your text a little bit and never like duplicating word for word on one page to another unless it's like your, your author bio at the bottom of a blog post because Google is gonna see it as duplicate text. So if you you look at my about page, it's like completely different text than what's on my homepage. So just be aware of that because Google sometimes like will be like, oh, it's duplicate content, it's not valuable. So they might ding you for that. Talked about the blog page. I'll go to travel resources. So I wouldn't, if you, if it's coming soon, I wouldn't kind of even bother. I know I have on my page, my destination page, the coming soon on Coming soon Asia. I had coffee today, but it's clearly not sinking in quite much. Um, it's like, yeah, this is a key page and you're not really doing much. Instead, it like, I would just send them to one of these other pages where you actually have some stuff on here. Does that make sense? Um, because yeah, I, I also, I'm clicking on it and I'm like, what does this page exist for? Um, speaking of the travel rules freebie, I would add more details here, um, because you talk about a lot— it doesn't have to be a financial burden. Do you want to travel more? Whatever. Tell us, like, I, I know you're probably not gonna know an exact dollar how much you've saved, but like, like I've talked about how I got a— I think it was like a $300 round trip from like LA to Barcelona flight, right? Which is really cheap round trip. All the way across the United States over to Europe. Um, talk about like, yeah, like how you like— and again, it doesn't— you don't have to have like, I've saved $965 on this trip. If you don't have that number, that's fine. But like, talk about like more compelling things, how you've saved. Um, want to book hotels without spending money, you know, be like, hey, I stayed in Nairobi at this 5-star hotel, uh, for free. Like, just give us some more examples because I feel like You could be compelling and it's just not coming through here. Um, because it's just, yeah, like, I, I want to know more about you. Like, how have you done like super cool shit? Like, I'm sure you have. Um, how to capitalize on credit card bonus and fund your travel. Like, you could be like, hey, I, you know, didn't have to pay for my flight to New York because I used my credit card bonus, or something like that. Like, just give us like examples because I feel like that's gonna be a 10 times more compelling than kind of like the generic save here. Um, anyways, I tried to click these and realized I couldn't, so I would make them clickable. Um, I know there's the button here, but like, if I just want Niagara Falls, I just want to click on Niagara Falls. Um, but instead you're forcing me to this page and I don't know, like, am I getting all of them? Like, I'm not sure. Um, so that's just like something for usability that I would look 4. On your hotel recommendations page, I think this is an interesting page, but you're not giving me why. Like, why should I book this place in Madrid? Like, and it doesn't mean you don't need to write an essay, um, that you should like write, like if you can write a whole blog post about each of these places and I would link to that. Um, because these are probably going to, are they going? Yeah, they're going straight to a hotel page. Even if it's a short, like, "Loved this place in Madrid, had a great rooftop view, breakfast was amazing." I don't know, whatever you wanna tell me about it, because else I'm like, why? Like, I have no reason to like, why would I be interested in these places? So just give us some more info. Like I said, it doesn't even have to be that amazing. It could be like, "This is adults only." That already appeals to me. I don't have kids, so I'm like, okay, cool. Like I'm not gonna have to deal with screaming children, but like maybe also they have an amazing spa or it's right on the beach or whatever it is. Just give us some more info because I feel like that's gonna be 10 times more compelling. Ah, on your work with me page, I see you have portfolio available on request. As somebody who like used to work with brands and stuff like that, like I was on the brand side picking influencers. I would rather just get a— have a media kit that I can click to or like it be on this page. I don't want to like email you for information. I want to know right this second if I'm going to pick you or not, or at least like have some inclination if I'm going to pick you. Because right now I'm like, okay, cool, she has nice photos, but who has she worked with before? Or what are examples of stuff she's done? And even if, like, I know a lot of people are starting out, like, they don't have big companies they've worked with or any companies they've worked with. That's fine. You want to know how I got my first hotel, like, comp stay? Um, I didn't have any big hotels. I had stayed at hostels for free. All right, what I gave them was— oh, not Belize, wrong destination. Okay, I stayed at this place in Finland, this Arctic Snow Hotel. Me and my friend paid to stay, but I took so much content and did such a thorough review of this that I gave it to them as an example of like, this is what I could do if I stay at your hotel. And it worked. Like, nobody was just like, oh, that's like not a good blog post. Like, I write about like the staying there, like the room choices, how to get there. Could you see the Northern Lights from there? Which obviously is a big thing in Finland in the Arctic Circle. Fun things to do there, places to eat there. Like, I went bananas on like giving as many answers as possible in this blog post, and that's what I sent to people. Like I said, this was not— I paid for this hotel, like, and it was, so it wasn't comped. And I used that as my example of what I could do for another hotel. So even if you don't have, you know, you've worked with Marriott or whoever before, use something like that. Like use some, I'm sure you've got content of some hotel you've stayed at or some place or whatever, whatever UGC you wanna, I'm obviously using a hotel example, but like whatever UGC you wanna do, link to that. You know, like if that's what you wanna create more, like hotels for me is great because I get to do a big post like that. I get to like link to where to stay on other blog posts that I have on that. Look, location. Um, and it's helped me get stays because I, I do a thorough job. Um, so I would highly recommend do that. We kind of talked about that you have the one item in there. Like I said, not knocking your one item, just maybe center it or, or do some more info here because yeah, I'm just not super compelled to click on it. And I know you, I know you've probably got amazing stuff to share, so Just give us a little bit more contact. If I remember correctly, your contact page, I would put one of those actually email embed forms. I know you have send email here, which probably goes— probably going to try to shove me into Google. Yeah, that's what it's trying to do. I'm assuming you're on WordPress. I have a lot of information above here. So if you want to like kind of like look over this, like I kind of did a little bit. About Me, which obviously I have like a bigger About Me page, but this is kind of like built kind of for companies hoping to reach out to me so they know a little bit of like why should they contact me. Um, talk about page views, followers, topics, stuff like that, and brands I've worked with. Um, but there's this like little form right here and that's to help minimize kind of spam for you too as well. Now I do have my email other places on here. I can't remember where right now. So I do still get some spam of like people being like, hey, do you wanna sign up for this random thing that you've never heard of? But having a form like this will help it a little bit. Okay. I know you wanted to know a lot about the SEO and how to be ranking for posts, which is great. So again, I would change this blog page to like a destinations page. Your sidebar here is not bad. Um, the recent comments I don't think you need because nobody's really searching to look at comments. Um, recent posts is fine, but you, you kind of like, I think, got these recent posts up here, so it's just like a little— yeah, it's the same post. It's a little redundant, so I just don't think you need that. And if you can like minimize space, you've also got two search bars here, which It's a little confusing. Um, destinations, like I said, make it under the dropdown of a destination page like mine. Um, or somehow, however you want to format it, like I said, just to make it easy for people to click through. Look at some of your posts. Okay. I'm going to start with this one. Um, I'm going to open a couple of them. Things to do in Nairobi. I know I had to Is Portugal worth visiting? And how to spend 3 days in Portugal. Okay, I'm also going to bring up Keysearch. Anybody watching who doesn't know what Keysearch is, you should definitely be using it because it is how I find keywords, how I'm like can kind of best set myself up to rank and have the best chances of ranking. So the thing I'm gonna say about this, the Draft Center Guide, that's a really short title. You could give us more like 10 reasons I love the Draft Center Guide or, um, what to expect at the Draft Center, uh, for female travelers or something. Just give us more information. Like the tool I use is All-in-One SEO Header Checker. I'm not saying it's the best tool, but it helps me come up with something better. So like if we put this in right now, and this is free tool anybody can use, just look up All-in-One SEO free headline analyzer tool. So if I hit analyze right now, you got 45 score. Um, you wanna be over, I think it's like over 80, you start getting great. I'm not always over 80, sometimes it doesn't. Um, but let's see. Let's see if I would put in what to expect at the end. Okay, so we already improved a little bit. Um, let's see if we just do, do, add the draft under guide. We're still getting a little bit better, but I work with this and keep going. It's going to tell you, you know, I don't have all of the power words and emotional words sometimes. Sometimes it's just not possible. It'll also tell you if you got too many words that's not gonna fit in the Google search. I would just, you know, work with it a little bit to give us some more. I feel like Draft Center guide is just too generic. The ultimate guide to the Draught Center in— where is it? Nairobi. Okay, so let's put in that and see if that helps. You're just giving people more— there we go, look at that, 88. You're giving people more context. Like, I didn't know where the Draught Center was, so if I'm like looking at it like, and I'm not a person who knows a lot about Nairobi, that's going to help me if it's in the title. So just think of like how you can be helpful to users like that. Like I said, it just was a little bit kind of, you know, not as informational as it could be. Um, sometimes that's where I, I put either numbers to alert people, like I said, 10 things to do or whatever, or how to, or the ultimate, or whatever. Those kind of like power words that make people feel like, oh, I should click on this. Um, you could also be like, I don't know if you were solo or not during this trip, maybe you were, you maybe were with your girlfriends or something like that, and be like, Girls Guide to the Draft Center Guide, or something like that. Just think of how you would like who's your audience, who you're trying to get to click on this. So I like your table of contents. I actually think you did this pretty well. So congrats there. Good. This is very good. Best time to visit. That's always nice. Your images are great. Like I said, I have no notes on that. Let's look what to expect. Planning the rest of your day. Again, great photos. Um, I like that you have another thing you're linking to here. That's always great is make sure to interlink your posts. Basically you wanna build like a, think of it as a spider web where you're like all connecting the posts. Cuz if you don't connect them, like Google is like, what is wrong with your site? Um, so always good to interconnect whatever you can. But something I wanna look up, so I'm assuming this is your keyword here is draft center guide because that's in your title. So let's look that up on Keysearch. And I have Nina, who's SheKnowsSEO, has a whole video on how to do this, which I'll, while that's loading, I'll show you how to find it on my page. She has this whole video. If you don't know how to use Keysearch, or I thought I knew how to use Keysearch, watch this video. It is like an hour long or something, but I, I promise you, like, it's gonna be so helpful. I had been using Keysearch for years and honestly thought I knew what I was doing, but I really, really didn't. Because I would kind of use it, and I'll tell you how I kind of used it, but then realized there's so much more you can use it for and how I've better improved my situation for it. So, okay, draft center guide. So what I'm looking at here is, okay, so there's, okay, one thing to know about Keysearch, sometimes the numbers are a little low. So like it's saying zero volume right now. That is saying that 0 people per month are searching this keyword. Sometimes that's wrong. So I'm gonna just do draft center because guide is probably, I'm assuming not part of your keyword. So 18,100 supposedly per month. And this will go up and down, like, like see it's higher in November. Than say February, it's kind of lower. So don't think like, if I rank for this, I'm gonna get 18,000 views per month. Mm-mm. That's just a guess. I've seen it lower and higher. It's just kind of a guess. But what we're looking for here is what I used to look for is like, I'd be like, oh, this color is yellow. All right? You want, blue is like super easy. Green is okay. Yellow is kind of hard. Red is like, don't even bother. So I used to go by this. I don't do it anymore because of Nina. What I look at for instead is the top 10. Now, um, your domain authority— um, your domain authority, if I remember correctly, was kind of low. So we can't target anything like with a big DA. Um, some People, I know even Nina says DA doesn't matter as much anymore. I still look at it to see if Google's even gonna think I'm authoritative enough. So your domain authority is 3. That's kind of low, but don't worry. It's like easier to build it up from the beginning. It's harder once you get, like I'm at a 21 and I have been stuck at a 21 for a while. It's harder to go up as you go. But like when you're low, it's a little bit easier to jump up to like a 3 to a 6 or a 6 to a 10. How you can start building up that DA is link swapping. There's a lot of Facebook groups for that. I think I might have some on that, that blog resource guide. If not, hit me up. But so again, you have a 3, so let's go look over people. So this person's a 29. This person also, their whole website is about Africa. So Google's gonna be like, this person is more authoritative on this topic because their entire website is dedicated to this subject. So the draft center, I wouldn't target just this keyword. Now it is a kind of a short-term keyword. You'll probably hear a lot of like long-term, long-tail keyword, people use that word. It basically means is there more words? So like draft center entrance fees is gonna be a long tail keyword because it's a lot more specific. But you can also see the search volumes a lot less because it's a lot more specific. Does that mean you shouldn't target it? No. If you want, you can target that. It's also gonna be, should be easier to target for. So let's just like, look, I know obviously it's not gonna be a term you're probably gonna be looking for, but just, for an example. Let's see what comes up. Okay, so we can already see that there's a lot more of the green ones. So like even this person— now again, this one's nairobi-park.org, so you're probably not going to beat them out for it. But let's see if we can find, um, one that— but, and you can see how this one already turned green. It's a little easier. So you, you could try A term like that. I'm trying to see if there's one. Okay, let's do reviews. 'Cause that's probably something you could easily adjust that post for. Wild Wonderful World. This looks like it might be a blog. Yeah, this is a blog. At least it's not a, I don't think, This might be a— this might be a company. I'm not sure. Usually I'll look for another blogger and see if they have a domain name near mine or at least a number near-ish mine to see if I can like kind of outbeat their spot is what I'm kind of getting at the point here. So if this was a blogger and their domain authority was like 10, I'd like Go for it. Go for it. 100%. Because it's a little higher and I'm not quite sure if they're, they're, I think they're, they might be a blog. At least they're not targeted just around Africa or Nairobi. So that's what I'm basically saying here is like try to find something that you can at least get on the first page for. Yeah. If you mind up on page 60 or rank 60 on page 6, for your term, like nobody's going that far. Okay, so this one's a blogger. You are ranking for this one. So good job on that. So you're ranking for best time to visit the Giraffe Center. So yeah, like I said, you can see your 3 here. You could probably maybe beat this person. So I'd say look at this person and see how to build out their site a little, build out your blog post a little bit more. Maybe you could overtake their spot. But based on Google right now, you're not gonna beat TripAdvisor, Instagram, Expert Africa, Misa Mara Travel, or TripAdvisor just because their DA is so much higher. Could you? Yes, I've seen it happen a couple times where you like suddenly are at ranking like a 90. I just, to be more cognizant of my time, I don't spend my time trying to beat out a 90. It's just less of a chance. That was really my thing about the Giraffe Center. Let's go look for another one. Okay. So I like this one. You give us the name of the thing, the name of the transport, sorry. And then where we're going to, booking your tickets. I would use a little bit more text right here. Train. Either online, just because it's so small, like sometimes I might miss that and that's a good opportunity for an affiliate fee. Um, what to expect at the station. I'm not sure why this text is showing up over here. Maybe look into that because that's kind of a little wonky. Uh, the ride arriving in Nairobi. I would add on the bottom, like I said, on your other page you at least link to another blog post, so if people want more information, just interlinked a little bit better. On the bottom of my posts, let's go to the backpack one because it should be shorter. Looking for more packing tips? And I've got links to all my packing guides. Um, so again, there'll be something easier to build out. Um, and I'll again talk about content silos, I promise. Um, but the thing that I was gonna say about this one, okay, I'm assuming your keyword is Kenya Railways. I'm gonna take a wild guess. I'm gonna say that's gonna be real hard to rank for. Yeah, you got a, a hundred on this, this, this is their official website and then all of these Wikipedia, Facebook, YouTube. I'm not sure what this is. And then a .gov website, you're not going to beat that out. So I would maybe, let's see if your keyword is instead train. Still, this one's a little bit hard and this one's African Kenden Safaris. Yeah, I would just say like, let's rethink your keyword here. Yeah, maybe change it to something like how to get from Nairobi. Though this one's also like a dedicated site. I would just say like, like if you're not using Keysearch, get Keysearch and start like just messing around in here and figuring out what keyword you feel like you can write for, which is important. Like, are you adding value? And that you, you can actually rank for because yeah, if you, if you're, if it's like I said, that first one we put in where it was like 100, like you're you're not gonna beat that. Like, like I said, very, very slim chance you'd beat that. Um, and that's just because like I'm not even gonna beat it too. It's YouTube, it's got 100 DA. Like, unless you are like Wikipedia, you're not beating that slot. So, um, things to do in Nairobi, a 5-day itinerary. So the thing about this title, um, it's good, but you're giving two different intentions. I would either choose things to do or the 5-day itinerary. 'Cause these can actually be 2 different blog posts, right? You can write a blog post of 25 things to do in Nairobi. I'm just making up a number. Or you got the 7 things down here. 7 things to do in Nairobi, that's like 1 blog post. Your 5-day itinerary, you can put in like where you had breakfast, where you had lunch, how you got there, places to stay, things like that. They're not the things to do. So I would, yeah, I would break this out to 2 different posts. I like that you numbered them. I think that's great. But yeah, I think you've got two different— yeah, this, this is one post right here and this is another post right here. So I would just split this one out. Draft Center. Again, make this like a longer tail keyword. I would make it visiting the famous Draft Center. I like that you got the buttons there. Keyword would be for this. Things to do in Nairobi. Let's just see if we could do that. Okay, so this is, this is not bad. So you got a 22 here and, um, a 25. I think they're both blogs. Yeah, this is definitely a blogger. This is, I think, another blogger, another Weird title there. It's like a little wonky. Um, oh, that shows up better there. Um, so that's something you should also put your keyword in here. So, um, you could see this person has things to do in Nairobi, Kenya. That tells Google this is what this is about. Um, versus, I don't know why this one's showing up wonky with this P18141. I don't know. That's a little weird, but you want to like put your keyword in your URL. Um, uh, that's another thing I can share. Nina at SheKnowsSEO has amazing SEO writing checklist that you can download for free. Just go to her website. Um, all you gotta do is SheKnowsSEO, freebies and courses, and it's this one content writing checklist. I believe this is right, this one right here. So you just hit get it here and then you just sign up via email, um, for it and it's free. Um, but basically what I wanted to like address on it is like places to use your keyword, right? Once you've chosen it from key search, the place you want to be using it is not only in your title, and you only want to pick one. Like I said, this "things to do in Nairobi in 5 days," 2 different ones. The other places that you want to be using it is in your URL. So you do it very well here, "things to do in Nairobi." Good job on that. You also want to use any secondary type keywords, things like "what to do in Nairobi," "things to see in Nairobi." any kind of variation on that same intent. Don't change the entire intent, just choose ones that have the same intent. Use that keyword in like the first 100, 100 to 150 words. So you have things to do in beautiful Nairobi here. That's okay. I always try to use it exactly. So anything you'd have to edit out is beautiful Nairobi here. The beautiful part, sorry, use it in the title and then use those like secondary keywords, so like what to do in Nairobi, what to see in Nairobi in heading, and then use it also in your meta description as well as throughout your blog post, of course, to an organic stance. One of the things I write in my travel blogger guide So some of the plugins I used to use, All-in-One SEO, which I found to be more beginner-friendly, but it costs. So if you're trying to be budget-friendly, use Rank Math. A lot of people do. It does also tell, does tell you to overuse your keyword though. I usually stay between 0.3 and 0.4%, which will do the math for you. So don't like worry about like, how am I gonna know how much percentages is? If you're using one of these plugins, it will tell you. Um, but I think they encourage you, it's like 0.5 or 1, which is like way too many times. Like you're, you're gonna be saying things to do in Nairobi every paragraph if you do that much. So don't do that. Another way you can figure out how many times to use a keyword is look what the people who are ranking, how often they're using it. So let's go look at the things to do in Nairobi, right? We can go look at this person. Ctrl+F, find. Okay, so they only used it once. That's actually kind of shocking. So, you know, you don't have to like use it like a bazillion times. Now, if it came back that they used it 12 times, I would try to use it about 12 times just to kind of match what's already ranking. But since he's only using it once, like, like That's actually a good indicator that you don't have to like beat it over the head. Something else I want to look at, we're gonna duplicate this. So on Keysearch, you can— okay, so they've clearly changed content assistant cuz I just had to figure out what the heck was happening. Um, so basically I, uh, hit new article, blank article, and then just put in the keyword things to do in Nairobi and then your title. What I'm going to do is copy this over here. Sorry, I'm like changing different screens because I can copy the plain text here. So I'm going to copy your entire blog post. Scroll, scroll, scroll. Right-click, copy as plain text. Some reason on Safari, this It doesn't like this thing. So, okay, paste. Okay. So tell me your words, your links, uh, difficulty. Uh, I don't know why it's saying zero. That's weird. Um, so right now it's telling you of the keywords that it's found for this post, you're only missing Nairobi, Kenya, and you can see that, that, that's because is lit up in red. So if I added it, it should turn green. Yeah. So now you— so what you can do is basically go and take your blog post, copy over the plain text, put it in here, and it will tell you based on who's ranking what other words you should be using. So like, think of it, it was things to do in Paris and you somehow didn't add in the Eiffel Tower. The Eiffel Tower would show up on like this section over here. And you'd be like, obviously, like that, obviously, that's like a silly example. But like, it's gonna point out like, things are missing. So right now you are missing Nairobi, Kenya. So that's something maybe you can go add in. So bravo for also not having too much missing here. Because sometimes I have stuff missing that I'm like, oh, obviously. Questions. Something I didn't see on your blog post, maybe I missed it, is schema for FAQ. So let me go show you on one of my posts what I mean by that. And again, if you have Rank Math or one of the SEO plugins, this will be much easier to figure out. Um, but basically I go over here, pop in FAQ, and so this is basically telling Google This thing is a frequently asked question that I am trying to answer for people. So you could go over here and do, let's see, none of these are really— is Nairobi worth visiting? Let's do that. So I would go over here, pop that in. I don't know why it's doing a crossout. And then you try to not answer it in like an epic essay. You try to like answer in like 100 words or so. So I'd be like, yes, Nairobi is certainly worth visiting because X, Y, Z. Obviously, like, I'm bullshitting this answer, but you go in and write whatever your answer is. And this is how you can get some more ranking. So like, I write things— why my Ambergris Cay post is not showing up on this anymore. It was really showing up the other day. But okay, so Amber Greasy— sorry, I keep saying it wrong— Ambergis K, um, I used to show up under these People Also Ask. Sometimes they change, um, but let's say this was me. Let's pretend, um, this is where those FAQs sometimes will pop up, which helps you get more views, um, because I got a lot of views this way was, was from these, um, People Also Ask. And like I say, sometimes they change, um, so I used to show up for, uh, Like something that was like, how long to— no, what's the best time of year to stay in Ambergris Caye? Ambergris. God, I can't say it right today. So I would also add those. Like I said, you can get a lot of them from Keysearch. There is also a site called Answer Socrates. Yeah. So let's see. So people also ask, is Nairobi, Kenya worth visiting? What is Nairobi best known for? How can I have fun in Nairobi? What to do with a day in Nairobi? You can use those FAQ schemas and answer these questions. So that's just another way to like kind of build out your post. But you'll get some ideas of like things to add into your post this way. Now I don't know why they really like confused the heck out of me by telling— changing. Yeah, they really confused the heck out of me by changing this system here on Keysearch. Hopefully, hopefully they change it back or at least change it because the other thing I was going to tell you is so this guy was ranking, remember, this without a path guy. So I want to know how many words he's using, and they used to tell you over here. I don't know where it went, and it's kind of annoying that they're not telling you. I'm sorry, I'm changing tabs again, um, but it's easier because I have these extensions up here. I have the Ahrefs extension, and then I have this— I don't know what this extension is— created by Detailed. Basically what I'm looking for is his word count. 2,500 Words, usually they're somewhat close. 2,500 words here. Let's go look at yours. Just make sure you're— oh, so you're 2,600. So you're very close to his. Now let's say yours was only 1,000. I would tell you to write at least what he has. It's the reason I point this out. But you actually have really close to what he has. So I— bravo. One thing I'm gonna check is how many posts he has on Nairobi though. So he has this one, two, three, Oh, so these are different places. So he doesn't have a ton of posts. Maybe what you can do by beating out some of his is write some more posts on Nairobi, 'cause it doesn't look like he has a ton. He has at least 3 that mention Nairobi, or 4. But yeah, maybe that would help you build it out. Like I said, he already has a higher DA, so that could also possibly be it. Is Portugal worth visiting? It's a good keyword, but the title, I would say, is Portugal worth visiting? An honest guide to the answer. 10 reasons I say yes. Just give us some more. Because I think, I think it's, you'll find more interest for people to click on it if you do. So this one actually pretty low. These people are bloggers. You could definitely see, "Visiting Portugal for the first time? Don't miss, skip these destinations." And she's not super higher than you. So she should be able to beat her out for this. But let's look at how many words she has versus you. So I'm going to copy over both of you and let's compare and contrast. So you have 1,300 words. She's got, uh, almost 3,000. So that could be partly why she's beating you out for this keyword. Let's just skip through. See what yours is. Different facets of Portugal. You should know. So you don't have anywhere— well, you do actually have in your final thoughts, is Portugal worth visiting? But this doesn't feel like it answers the questions to me. Portugal location. Okay, so I mean, yeah, these are reasons you could argue going to Portugal. But I think even just writing it as like, 7 reasons to visit Portugal— is Portugal worth visiting? 7 reasons to visit, or something like that. And then like list these as 1, 2, 3— may help. Google really likes lists. Add more words. Yeah, you should know before you go. This is more like travel tips to know rather than reasons to visit, um, unless you want to like adjust this, like transportation. Like, one of the reasons that to go is the transportation is amazing, or something like that. Another reason to go, safety is, you know, it's great for solo female travelers or something like that. I would just— I think your intention's a little missing the mark is maybe why this one isn't ranking. Um, that it needs more words. Like I said, the other girl's got more than twice as many words as you are. So let's go look at hers. Um, yeah, so she's like basically like, don't skip these. Like she's got like the fear of missing out on here basically. Um, like you'd be silly not to miss— to not to see these. Um, she's got great bolded sections. Don't love the Pinterest in the middle there. So she's got, yeah, some like travel tips like you do on the bottom. Must visit destinations. She got them listed out. I don't love these double number things, but it's obviously not stopping her. So she's linking to her other posts. That's what I was saying. I used to do this in the middle of mine. I took them out because I had some people who were like, oh, I thought it was the bottom of the post when you link to other posts. But she's at least linking to other stuff that people could help. She can move this to the bottom if she wanted to, like I did. Yeah, I don't know why she doesn't have the numbers when she's got the numbers up there. That's a little strange to me. But yeah, she's just got more information. She's breaking out in bullet points. So she's making it very easy to read. Something I actually need to improve on myself. Sometimes I read— write way too much. What's she linking to here? Are these going to— yeah, these are going to affiliate things. So this is a good place for affiliate things. You can add a little bit more. I know you're on, I believe, Stay22, but which I think Stay22 also has get your guide options as well. But I would actually recommend to sign up with them natively as well so you can get their widgets. Yeah, so she's just— she's got more written here. Like I said, she's highlighting good portions, like saying how many days you can spend there. She's just making it very easy to read and more comprehensive. I think is why she's beating you out on this, um, in my opinion. Obviously there's no— in, in SEO, there's like— I can't give you a direct answer of like, if you do this one thing, you're definitely gonna rank. Nobody can do that for you. Anybody who tells you you can is like a charlatan. Um, but I can give you suggestions on things that I think have helped me or I know have helped other bloggers. So yeah, writing more, just breaking it out like a little more digestible. And like I said, you can, you know, interlink a little bit better, I think would help you significantly on this post. And then let's look at this one. It's about how to spend 3 days in Portugal. Again, you can add, you know, a little bit more to your introduction there. I'm not sure why your image is breaking here. It might be the internet here. So, but I would check just 'cause yeah, it's definitely showing up. Um, uh, let's see. How does that do? You got it in there. You kind of got it in there. Table of contents. Okay, so like I would break your detailed daily itinerary. I would have like a subsection. I don't know if this— I'm guessing this is an H2, so I'd have an H3 of like day 1, day 2, day 3. Portugal before you know, these are good things. Bravo, making them. I would, yeah, travel adapters. Do a post on like the things you'd bring and then yeah, you can interlink that post. You're just basically trying to build the web of yourself. So Friday, I would put this as a day 1 just because who knows if like they're starting on Tuesday. I get what you're trying to like do, like a long weekend thing. But yeah, make this like an H3 heading. Early morning arrival. That's fine. Brunch, shopping. Yeah, you don't have a ton of links in here. I think you can add some more and make yourself some more affiliate revenue, but also like link to like, if you're posting about the Lisboa card, the travel card, like link to their official website. It's only going to give you bonus points with Google by like linking to like authoritative websites, which have, like I said, if you're linking to like the Eiffel Tower and you're linking to their official website, it's only gonna look like you're doing the right thing because you're linking to the official, um, site or some kind of authority on it. So if it's like Time Out Market and you're linking to, um, TripAdvisor's Time Out Market guide or something like that, like it's gonna look good for you. So I would say add in some more links like that. Again, I would make that an H3 and change it to Day 2. Um, ah, you can add some more information about what train you took if you want to be a little more specific. Um, Okay, so you link to this here. That's good. Um, I would break out these paragraphs a little bit because some of your paragraphs are a little bit long. Um, again, link, interlink to something else here just to help build your site. Um, interconnectedness. Let's look at Let's look at 3 days in Portugal for key search. So this is a blogger. This is a blogger. This is a blogger. Portugal Online. I don't know if that's a blogger, but there's a few bloggers on here. They have a little higher DA than you, but that's definitely something you, you can build up to this. Like, this is not an impossible mission that you're on here. Um, I would just look at Let's go look at how many words you have. Again, let's compare and contrast. We're going to do the lowest DA one just because, um, because that would be the first one you'd be overtaking. Um, so let's see how many words you have. 3,800. I always like kind of compare just to see. 3,800. Yeah, some of these like apps are actually good because they'll tell you like, you could use more words. Your description, you have like good— it's indexable, it's conical. It looks like maybe your H tags, like you're missing a 4, so something that you skipped 4. Maybe something to look at, cuz sometimes that like, it doesn't love that. Um, yeah, cuz you went from 2 to 5. Yeah, you should, it should be like 2 to 3 to 4 to 5. Um, so this is something also to look at. Um, I haven't seen it change things significantly for me, but I've been told by other SEO experts that like sometimes like Google's like, what the heck is happening if you skip numbers. So just something to keep an eye on. Check me if you have author— author schema, because I don't think you do. Yes, so you should be adding an author box at the end of your site. Let me find one of mine so I can tell you, show you exactly what I'm talking about. So at the end of every one of my posts, there's like this. That's like a little description of me and links to my stuff. And this basically just tells Google like, this girl Michelle wrote this post, um, which helps you build authority because then if you're all linking it and telling it like, this is my Facebook page and this is my Instagram and this is my LinkedIn and this is my Pinterest, is being like, this is— I am an author in all these places and I am authoritative because I have all this knowledge. So I would definitely add an author box on the end of your page. But again, let's go back to— I forgot how many words you have now because I've been yabbering. 38. Let's see what she got. She's got 10,000 words. So she is far and above how many words you have. You can see her menu is a little wonky right there. I would ignore it. Don't do this. I did that and I don't think it helped me. But from here on down, it looks like she's got her H2s and H3s in good order here. But she's got a lot of info. And see, I got the day 1 through 3 here. Samphire itinerary. She's got a lot of questions. Do you need to rent a car? What's the best time? Best place? Is it expensive? She's packed it with information. I would look at the top competing blogs, like I said. The reason I say the blogs is because something like a Reddit obviously is not going to be the same format, the same as a blog. You can't really sit there and yeah, you can look at if they have any frequent ask questions, you can, um, try to answer, but it's not going to be the same format. Neither is like a TripAdvisor. So that's why I always say like look at other blogs. Um, but she's got like a ton of information in here. So, and she's also like linking to— I'm gonna guess this goes to another blog of hers. Yeah, 2 Days in Porto. She's interlinking very well. Um, yeah, she's linking to herself. Um, so yeah, she's got So much information in here. And I'm not saying like go and steal everything she does. If you can't answer, do you need to rent a car? Don't answer it. Like there's no point in answering questions you don't know the answer to. But if you rented a car and you, you think, oh, it was a pain in the ass or it was the best thing ever, go ahead and answer it. Like do whatever you can. Um, and obviously some of these questions are gonna be like generic. What, what currency is used in Algarve? Her answer and your answer. It's going to be the same type of currency, but obviously how you answer it can be a little bit different. Um, because yeah, don't, don't steal, but like take inspiration. Like be like, oh, okay, like she put her, you know, um, a map. Maybe you need— I need to add a map. Um, would be like a nice way of like building it out. Um, let's see what else she's got in here that could be like an interesting ad for your So I don't love the top recommended hotels because most of the time I feel like, did you actually stay at all these places? That's just a personal opinion of mine, um, because I know when I stay at a place, I rarely stay at more than 2 places, uh, in a city. So to list like 4 of them, I'm like, did you stay there though? Did you like it? Or are you just saying it because Booking.com's got it listed top? And again, that's just my personal opinion. There's no hate on this um, that's just how I feel about it. But I know a lot of bloggers who do do it. Let's see what else. So yeah, so she can do a map, you can write a lot more words, answer a lot more questions. Um, she's linking to like Get Your Guide Experiences. Yeah, like I said, I would go through like your top competitors that are bloggers first and just be like, what kind of vibe are they going? Like, if you can write about restaurants, write about restaurants. Like, I don't think you had restaurants in yours unless I'm missing it. Oh, you kind of do. You have like Time Out Market, but maybe you need like a section of like my favorite restaurants, you know, or, or places to eat in Portugal, something like that. Um, uh, like a dedicated section. Uh, yeah, so like your answer is always going to be euro. Like you're obviously not going to have any different answer to what the currency is, but like you could obviously write this like a completely different sentence to you. Um, what languages do they speak? It's going to be— have the same— it's going to be the same answer, but how you answer it Yeah, she's using bullet points. Yeah, and then she's linking to other posts down here. So yeah, she's a lot more— got a lot more information. So I would look to build out yours as much as you possibly can. For HaHa's, let's look at Ruth. I'm gonna guess Ruth has like a lot of words too. Yeah, she's got— hers is always very family-friendly, I know, I've noticed. She's got it broken up by days. So she's got like "Heart of Lisbon Day Trip" and these neighborhoods and then like a packing list. Like if you can write a packing list section, maybe add that. You know, what to wear in Lisbon or Portugal. So yeah, just like look at like other people's and like take inspiration. Again, no stealing, just inspiration. And I guess just for haha, let's look at how much words she has. So she's got 3,000 words, so not nearly as much as the other girl. But still, I think more than yours. Oh no, you okay? You have more than her in this. Um, hers is probably the formatting. Like, she beats me out on everything, I think. Um, not that I have like a ton of, um, competing keywords with her, but I know definitely my Rome post is competing with hers. Um, and I'm not even near hers. Like, she, she is— she does well. So she'd be a good one to like look for inspiration from of like what, what kind of type of things is she answering. I'm not a parent like she is, so that's a little bit hard for me to compete with her in some of this stuff. But I don't know your situation. Maybe you are, or maybe you're solo female traveler yourself, and you can kind of spin it to that angle. A little bit more is what I've been doing for myself. I hope that answers a lot of your questions. I'm going to try to trim this video so it's not epically long for you, but if you have any more questions, feel free to answer this. Anybody else other than an ODI watching this video, I hope this helped you as well. Do make sure to sign up for my— I just closed it— my newsletter. It's located in my social posts, but also it's under my Travel Blogger Guide. If you see it right here to sign up for that, it's free.
