A short YouTube conversation (transcript) between Mike Andes and another speaker about whether a lawn business should split operations across two properties. The dialogue covers concerns about employee logistics, zoning, charging infrastructure for an electric truck (noted as 90 kWh), and the practicality of running a larger (≈$800k) business with multiple trucks.
Questions this video answers
90 kilowatt-hour
Approximately $800,000 ("800k") with 6 to 8 trucks
No — "It's not zoned for business use."
Two properties.
You know, what would you do in my shoes and what do you think the best step is?
I wouldn't split the two until you have someone that has been here for a few years. They're like your general manager. It just starts to feel janky for the employees when there's two different start sites. The one that you currently have over there at the shop space is at a different landscaping company's property. It's just a little weird for team members to come back here to the very back and pass all their employees, etc. And they have a big office, a bunch of fancy equipment. Here's your house.
It's not zoned for business use. Do I think it would be smart to do an 800k business with like 6 to 8 trucks? I don't know.
Well, they're not gonna report you. They're not gonna report you. There's nothing over there.
They're only splitting.
The two locations because you can charge the truck here.
It's got a 90 kilowatt hour battery in it. So for all of our smaller, like, ego batteries and things for the blowers, weed whackers in the consumer grade mowers, we can plug them right in right there.
Can we charge that truck there? Any way, shape or form? Like, can we put an inverter there or anything? It's not gonna work. No.
