A better map on your dispatch board

HomeWorks switched its dispatch board from Trimble Maps to Mapbox because Trimble was built for 18-wheelers and struggled with residential neighborhoods and tight driveways. The new map offers better routing accuracy for smaller crews, with no new features yet but more precise routes coming.

Hey everyone, it's Mike Andes at HomeWorks, and today we are releasing a brand new dispatch board mapping system. In the past, we've used Trimble Maps, and Trimble Maps has been around for a very long time. It's very much of a legacy logistics navigation tool that we used as an API to be able to do your routing and your route optimization. The problem is, is that it is really built for 18-wheelers. And large trailers and delivery trucks and reefer trucks. And this works actually pretty decently if you have a big landscaping rig or big trailer, but it doesn't work good if you're doing short stops, if you're going down dead ends, if you're going down small driveways and areas that are tighter. It— the optimization is not perfect. It has been that way from day one. And so we are making a big investment in moving to a new platform called Mapbox. And this is going to solve a lot of these problems and should dramatically increase the efficiency and the accuracy of your route optimization. Now it's a pretty big cost for us to take this on. However, we believe that Mapbox is gonna be a scalable infrastructure for us to build a lot of other features in the future, whether it be around AI, dispatch, optimization of your, your team, of your budget hours throughout the week. There's a lot of things we wanna bring to the dispatch board and we needed a modern platform that can scale with us. And we've seen a couple of times where they've had issues and it's been too long of a response time for them to get back up and running. And we don't want to have that level of disruption for all of you. And we really think that the vast majority of users inside of HomeWorks will be benefited much more by Mapbox with an optimization built for smaller rigs and getting in and out of small neighborhoods. Since the vast majority of us are serving residential customers in addition to commercial. So definitely go check out the dispatch board. Give us any feedback you have on the new Mapbox API. It's not going to have any different features. It's feature parity. So there's nothing new about it. It should just be more accurate when it comes to optimization. And it's a foundation for us to build a lot of more features and capabilities down the road.
