Mike Andes says Facebook and Google ads have gotten worse at targeting due to privacy rules and browser limits, making them wasteful for most businesses. He recommends sticking to local targeting, keeping daily spend under $15, and using yard signs instead for lawn care and landscaping services.

It's always changing. If you've been trying Facebook and trying Google and then you find something, just go all in on it. If you're spending more than like 15 bucks a day, it's typically waste. The problem is there's probably one person a week that has been to your site and is also looking for lawn care landscaping this week. These algorithms are so good at like filtering people out. Target your area and don't go too much more than that. If they're using Safari and they have an Apple device, we don't know what their ages. That's like the other. The unknown is becoming more and more and more Whereas if you can figure out a more old fashioned way like yard signs, that potentially could lead to a much better customer acquisition cost and more sustainable long term because you're not at the mercy of an algorithm or them changing privacy security stuff. This is why people you'll see on Facebook groups always will be like we're seeing ads across the country. It's like, well that person likely has all their blockers on and Google doesn't know where they're coming from. Facebook doesn't know where they're coming from anymore. There is less and less targeting that we're allowed to do. Whereas like you put a yard sign there, it's going to stay there and it's probably going to be for everyone in that neighborhood. What was working three years ago does not work on Facebook. Same thing with Google.
