ANNOUNCEMENT: I'm Moving to Texas!

The creator is moving to Texas for six months to build a lawn care company targeting $1 million in annual revenue while working 10 hours a week, using a hired manager and AI phone systems instead of traditional hustle. He's also launching a paid community for home service entrepreneurs already at $1 million, focused on scaling to $10 million.

So the title is not clickbait. I am moving to Texas with my wife, and I also have another announcement at the end of this video that no one's heard about. And so first, let's talk about Texas. I'm going to be moving there for 6 months starting this fall. And about 3 years ago, I moved to North Carolina for 30 days, and we did a 30-day challenge where I had to grow from zero to $30,000 a month in revenue. And that got me my first 20, 30 mowing customers and then quite a few projects in terms of cleanups. And I just showed the process of getting started and it was awesome. I did door hangers. I literally ran a half marathon doing door hangers one day. I stood on the hood of my truck waving a sign and got kicked out by security walking through a mall with a sign. I did so much door knocking and talking to customers and a lot of just guerrilla marketing, low-budget stuff. I wanted to show that anyone with the hustle and work ethic could start a business and get off the ground. That's the beautiful thing about home services and America and blue-collar industries is you don't need a lot of skills or money or connections. You can just go work hard. And that's what I wanted to prove. And so with one truck, I got started, started doing door hangers, doing yard signs, knocking on doors, and I built a business. And that was awesome. I was able to document the starting phases of a business and it was super useful for owners of Augusta Lawn Care as well as those that watch the content to be able to figure out how to get started. But I've realized that since then, a lot of my audience, a lot of you, a lot of owners inside of Augusta are running into new problems and constraints in growing their business. It has nothing to do with getting new customers, putting out door hangers, work ethic, hustle hours. It has a lot more to do with leadership and it has a lot more to do with how do they allocate the capital and finding general managers. And so I'm doing it again. I'm going back out to a different state. I live in Washington State. That's where I'm at right now. This is the headquarters building that we're building out in Washington. But for 6 months, I'm going to move to Texas. Now, the plan is that I'm going to get things set up, established, and learn the market for the first few months. And then next spring rush, scale quickly. The objective is to be able to grow to $1 million in annual recurring revenue. That's about $80,000 in monthly recurring revenue while I'm there. Now, this is very different than the North Carolina challenge. First off, I'm there for 6 months. Not 30 days, because in the first 30 days I was able to like get my first couple of employees. I was able to get my first 20 or 30 customers. But you never saw behind the scenes of really scaling the business to where it ran without me or my general manager was established or was there— there was any sort of systems inside the business. And now since 2023, Augusta Lawn Care, the average location is almost twice as large in terms of revenue. We have owners that have multiple locations, 5, 6, 7 locations. And we need to make sure that we have documented every single system, just like I did for the North Carolina location. When I did the North Carolina location, I was testing things like Instant Quote door hangers. I was testing out HomeWorks, the new software. I was testing out using AI for phone calls. And those are all now systems we use across all of Augusta Nation. And now A lot of these owners, they're hitting $700,000, $800,000, $1 million plus in annual revenue, and they're thinking about a second location. They're thinking about how do I get a general manager to run operations so I don't have to work inside of the business? How do I start my second location but ramp it very quickly because now I have plenty of capital and I need to use it for the sake of taxes? These are the constraints that I'm trying to solve. And instead of just theorizing about it, instead of just writing on a whiteboard, I'm going to demonstrate it. I'm going to build a million-dollar business in less than 1 year. And here's the catch. I can't work on the business for more than 10 hours per week, meaning I've got to find a general manager from day 1. I can't go out and do door hangers and hustle and grind because a lot of times that's what's required to get the business off the ground. But it is not required. It is not the thing that is the necessary ingredient to scale the business where it lives beyond the owner, where you have managers, when you have a great team, when you have systems in place. And so I believe that over the past few years, my audience has matured and they need the next step, the next level of business to get past just 20, 30 customers, getting off the ground, hustle, work hard, which all of those things are important. But leadership and the ability to be able to delegate and have systems in place is important. So when I'm there, I'm going to be growing to about $80,000 a month in recurring revenue within one year. I'm going to have a general manager from day one. I'm going to use vans and I am not going to have an office space. Instead, I'm going to use Command Center at Augusta Lawn Care to answer all my phones, do all my payroll, emails, text messages. All the admin will be handled by them and then I won't need an office space. The crew will take their vans, they'll go home with them. They'll use HomeWorks, the software, to route from their house and in their local area, the jobs that are nearby. And we're gonna do really simple services. We're not gonna offer 10 different things. And I think so often at times it's so easy to build a million-dollar business that has 10 different services, all of which do about $100,000 a year. That's a very complex business. It's hard to hand off. And if I'm only working 10 hours per week in the business, it's impossible to ever leave the business 6 months later and ever expect it to continue growing and scaling if I have tons of complexity. So we're going to have one van set up. We're going to offer mowing and lawn treatments and that's it. Nothing else. And so what's different now versus North Carolina is North Carolina, I started with a very small budget and I had to get my first customers, use that money to then go get door hangers, yard signs, stand on the side of a road with a sign. That's not what we're doing. This is going to be more of an investor mindset where I'm going to use a couple hundred thousand dollars to hit the ground running with multiple employees, a general manager, a large budget that we use at Augusta Leads to run Facebook ads, Google ads, and really scale the business fast. And I know for some people in the comments, they're going like, oh, that's unfair. You have a bigger budget, you have money. Of course it's easy for you. I am trying to be able to give my audience— has followed me for the past 10 years on YouTube that needs that next stage of how do I create systems, how do I simplify services, how do I use the systems to get a good general manager and use pay for performance. These are the systems I want to demonstrate in front of all of you. And so I'll be posting 3 to 4 videos, like vlog style videos every single week. And it's not going to be me mowing grass. It's not going to be me trimming bushes, although those get a lot of views on YouTube. What it's going to be is going to be the marketing. It's going to be where are we spending our budget? Where are we going to get the billboards? Where— how are we navigating the tracking of vans since the crew are taking them, those vehicles home? These are the things I'm going to focus on, the systems. How are we thinking about pay for performance with this model? What percentage on P4P are we going to give our crew? These are the things I want to demonstrate and show, and then I'm documented for Augusta Lawn Care. And I can talk all day long about what you should do with the copy and paste method. But instead of just talking about it, I'm going to demonstrate it step by step by step and exactly how to delegate to a general manager, when to delegate, what checklist to use, what systems to be able to have the business run without the owner being in the operations every single day. There's a plane going over right now here at the headquarters building. I don't know if you can see that, but there's a plane up there. We're like right next to the, the airport. And so we're building this place out and hopefully by the end of this year it'll be done. So that is the Dallas announcement. And I truly believe that we'll be able to copy and paste that size location around the, the, that territory. And over the next few years, I really look forward to sharing that process with all of you. All right. The second announcement, we do not disappoint. So the next announcement is this. I am starting a school community. If you don't know what school is, it's a place where you have communities come together and be able to learn. And I think of it as an alternative education source. I believe this is the future. When it comes to college, university, I don't think those things are going to hold weight anymore. I went to college to be in pre-med for 4, almost 5 years, and then I went to school for another 2 years at night while I started Augusta Lawn Care. I was 18, and while I was 18 and 19 years old, I went at night to get my MBA, Master's in Business Administration, from the university. I spent tens of thousands of dollars and I paid for all of it using lawn care. That's why I want to give back to this community. This is why I'm so passionate about home services. The thing is this: I paid over $100,000 in tuition for those 6 years of education, and I think very little of it do I actually use today. I actually created MBA for Entrepreneurs, which is just a— I consolidated down the 2 years of business school that I had and I just made it into an online course. I believe that's the future of education with AI and with the fact that now instead of having some random professor teach a student about education in, in school about business or entrepreneurship, why would you not want to learn from someone who has done it, actually done it in like built a real business? And so as much as in the past there's been a lot of scumminess around fake gurus or people that don't really know what they're talking about making online courses, I believe that alternative education is the future for America and for the world. And AI just democratizes this dramatically, which is really interesting when it comes to the education system in the United States. That being said, I'm creating a school community for people that have done over $1 million in annual revenue in home services. So I'm going to talk about what the school community is, who should join, who should not, and why I'm doing it. So if you do over $1 million in annual revenue and we are going to require proof that you're doing at least $80,000 a month in revenue or $1 million in annual revenue. I want to be able to get entrepreneurs together that might feel alone and they might be in a market where there's only 10,000, 15,000 people. There's no other entrepreneurs that they can talk to. No other competitors want to talk to them and they need a community. But the real thing that I think this community is going to do is allow people to get the next level. If you're doing $2 or $3 million in annual revenue, you do not need to learn more tactics on Facebook ads. You do not need to learn how to run a better Google Ads campaign or get more reviews on Google. You have figured it out. You are in the top 5 to 6% of home services if you're able to build a couple million dollar business. And so what this community is going to be built for is how do I go from $1 million to $10 million? Because I believe that what gets you to $1 million is going to be working extremely hard, long hours and a lot of blood, sweat and tears of doing the work and then figuring out how to manage your first 5 to 10 employees. However, that same skill is not the thing that gets you to $10 million. And I see so many people on the Turnaround Show, even inside of Augusta, that they hit $1 million, $1.5 million, and they stall. And it has nothing to do with tactics. It has nothing to do with getting more leads. It has nothing to do with so many of the systems I talk about on the channel. It has everything to do with leadership. It has everything to do with communication. It has everything to do with becoming the leader that great employees, great managers, want to work for and getting discretionary effort out of your team. But the challenging part is that's not a tactic. That's not something I can just grab off the shelf like, oh, that's a great tool. That's a great book. Oh, that podcast is great. Oh, I can just implement that tactic into my Facebook ads and voilà. That's not what leadership is. And that's what is so frustrating for people that build a million-dollar business or $2 million or $3 million and it stalls and they can't get the business to run without them. They feel like the bottleneck. They feel like they're running around like a chicken without a head, constantly fighting fires. And it's because they don't have a team that trusts them and their leadership. And so I really look to this group and we're calling it the Home Service Boardroom. I'm looking at this group as a way for entrepreneurs that want to learn about things outside of business that make them the leader that inside of their business allows it to scale. Because what gets you from $1 million to $10 million, if it's becoming a great leader, becoming a great leader doesn't have to do with working more hours, grinding and hustling, or learning a tactic about how to get more leads. It has everything to do with things outside of work, whether it be your relationships, your health, the way that you rest and recover, the optimization of your schedule and being efficient with your calendar, the ability to be able to deliver bad news to employees, or how do I give constructive feedback to a manager and how do I communicate that effectively without coming across negative or pushing them away or pushing away A-players because I'm a strong type A pusher driver and I've got to retrain myself because that got me to $1 million. But the exact same thing that will keep me from going to $5 and $10 million. And that's what the school community is for. It's going to be for like-minded home service professionals that have to have over $1 million in revenue and are looking to optimize areas outside of work in order to become the leader at work that gets them to pass $10 million in annual revenue. And we're going to talk about other topics like investing, whether it be real estate, stocks, even things like your taxes and your trust and how you set that up. Because as you have a $2, $3, $4 million business, to be a good steward of that, we've got to think about things outside of just the basics that got us to $1 million or $2 million. We have to think about the future and how do we Pass this legacy on? How do we pass the business along? How are we making sure that we're tax efficient? These are the things that we're going to talk about inside of the boardroom. And so if you're doing over $1 million in annual revenue, down in the description, there's a link, just school.com/boardroom. You can sign up today and you will have to verify your income. Now, why am I doing this? The reason I'm doing this is because I came from Blaine, Washington. You can look it up. It's like 6,000 or 7,000 people. My family wasn't entrepreneurs. No one in that local community. In fact, Mike Andes, my biggest competitor, came, drove by one of the first days that I was— I got a new little shop space and told me that there was no way I was going to survive. There was no way I was going to make it. And for a lot of people getting started or people that are even successful, they don't have the community around their local area. Well, this is the great thing about the internet. This is the great thing about the commoditization of education and the fact that we can be close in proximity to each other, even though we're thousands of miles away. And so I'm doing it for that person. I'm also doing it for the person that is tired of learning new tactics and tricks and tips and adding new services and optimizing their businesses by 1% and wondering why they can't get to the next level. Because leadership is the unlock to go from $1 million to $10 million. It is not more hustle. It is not more tactics. It is not even finding more customers. You can find all the customers in the world, but if you can't retain a great team, if you can't great, attract great management and a great leadership team, you will never be able to scale to $10 million. And so these will not be the fast whiz-bang tactics that you might have seen on my channel, YouTube, anywhere else where we got to think about retention. We've got to think about how many views are we going to get. That is not what this, this school community is going to be for. And every single dollar, because I know already in the comments, some people are like, oh, of course he's making content for people that are millionaires already. Every single dollar will be pumped back into this channel to make content for those that have not made it to $1 million. And so what I'm doing in Texas is giving the roadmap from zero to a million. You're going to see everything. And for those that are already at a million and need that next level of leadership skills and honing in their health and their wellness and the way that they think and their communication skills and thinking even about diversification and how they use their wealth and grow it outside of their business. They'll be the people that join the school community, and every single dollar will be used to create free content, free resources for everyone else that's coming up. And this is my passion. Everything, everything, whether it be Homeworkz, Augusta Nation, all the free tools and the media that I create, the Turnaround Show, it's completely free. HomeServiceAudit.com, completely free. InstantMowingQuote.com, completely free. These are things that I have built because of all of your support, and this The school community will be absolutely no different. And so if you're not at a million, you'll be able to take the content that we share on this channel, the show that I'll be creating out in Texas when I scale to a million dollars, implement that, build a million-dollar business, and then you can join the school community and learn how to go to 10 million. Because that part is unsexy. That part is what we call soft skills. It's not the thing that I can write up on a whiteboard and tell you these are the steps you do to get your first 10 customers, or these, this truck versus this mower. I can't do that with leadership. It's soft skills and it takes retraining and changing the way you think about your business, about your people, about systems. And that's the part I want to teach inside the school community. And I believe that by having a community of other individuals that are your size in business, that are not going to mock you when you're having a struggle with your first or second manager, you've burned through 3 or 4 of them, they're not going to judge you. They're gonna lift you up when you're down. They're gonna give you the tactics that work for them, the things that they had to change in their health or in their sleep pattern or in their marriage to be able to show up to work as the leader that their team needed. So if that's of interest, check the link out below. Otherwise, this fall, I'll see you in Texas.
