I'm traveling 3,000 miles across the country to build a $300,000 lawn care business in just 30 days. This Augusta lawn care location needs to be making $1,500 per day before I can hand it off to a general manager and go back home. I'm starting with no employees, no equipment and no customers to prove that systems build great businesses.
Alright.
Day four was an absolute disaster of a day. Literally the two things we had in our docket to get done. Every door, direct mail and follow up. Neither of those things got done. So we're at day five now. It's Saturday. And the only thing I want to think about today is getting those two things done and playing catch up. Okay, so we're on the USPS site. We're doing every direct mail. I'm trying to get my campaign rolling. I want to send out about 2,000 pieces and I'll send it to them probably twice just because we have limited time. So I'm kind of looking at where I was doing my door hangers today. My yard signs, kind of this area. And this is actually where we're staying pretty close in this neighborhood here. So our shop space is down below. And so I'm going to select like for example, you can see up top here, the metrics of this specific route. There's a mail route that I'm scrolling through. We got 460 total mail pieces. Gonna cost me 86 bucks. So like what, 17, 18 cents per. And then what's cool is you can see the exact data on this route. So up top you can see 70% of the people here are above 45 years old. So a pretty aged area. And the average income is $72,000. That's pretty good as well. And the vast majority of these addresses are residential. There's not a bunch of commercial. So I'm happy about that as well. So I'm going to choose this market. That's where I was doing door hangers this evening. The very first thing I need to do is literally go print this off again because they somehow cannot take the fact that I paid this online and, and I showed them on my phone with an order number. They have to have it printed off. So I gotta go to the FedEx store, print it off and then take it back to the post office and meet them again. I'll do this market as well. Here again, good population, mostly residential. Almost all of it's residential and really solid income. Look at the income on that thing, $179,000. So really high end Market there. I'm going to go for this one and probably this one here. This one has a little more businesses in terms that I would like, but overall, I think it's a good market. So these four. These four different neighborhoods all together is 2111 total pieces and a cost of $400.
Hi. Yesterday I dropped off a whole bunch of.
Yeah, but I hadn't had the paid part, so reprint it off and make that okay. Will do.
Thank you so much. I appreciate it. Take care.
Just boggles my brain. It all just depends who you get. God was awesome. I bet yesterday he would have just taken them too, and just been like, yeah, I'll put them out right now. Let's go.
This is my new favorite place. Has great smoothies. Got one for Zach there as well. Make sure you show Zach some love. He's been staying up till, like, past midnight every night to get these videos out on a daily basis.
All right, we're on. Copilot here. Go ahead and start work.
Three seconds down. We got one budgeted hour. Let's see if we can make it happen. All right, Echo, you ready? Time for your maiden voyage. Be a good girl now. Oh, probably smart to have a key and unlock it.
This thing.
Dude, I think the other keys are the ones that work. Sick.
Ridiculous.
Okay, we're going to try all these keys. Ram fraction like a gazillion on every.
This is not ram rack. This is green fetch. Goodness, dude. We might have to go all the way back down just for a stinking key.
Seriously, dude.
There goes budgeted hours here. You know what? Let me check this. I bet.
Dude.
So it works for this one.
But not that one.
That's sorcery.
Nope.
It only opened up the blower.
Fail, fail, fail, fail, fail.
Do you want me to start on the vlogging? You go get the other keys.
I.
Can you just get a couple shots of me blowing stuff off? Yeah, I can take the mower.
Or you could. I mean, it can be part of the vlog alert. I can be like, all right, Zach went back to get the other stuff.
Hey, Mike, you will not believe what I'm trapped behind right now. Some sort of oversized load. It's gonna be a minute before I can get back there. Might be on your own for man.
Hey, Mike, I got the keys, but I do not have the address to Becky's house. Could you send that over to me? Hopefully he gets back to me. He hasn't answered my earlier whatsapps.
It's been like 40 minutes since I left the house because of that hold up. So I'm just gonna try to find the house. I think I know the way, but we've only been there twice.
Okay, big brain move. I use Google timeline to see where I just was with my phone. So I think we have the address on lock. All right, it says it's right here, but I don't recognize any of this. Mike hasn't answered any of my whatsapps. I drove like an hour out of the way. So we're gonna try calling him to see if we can't find where he is. See if he picks up.
He's on the mower. Like, he might not be able to hear me or even feel it if it's vibrating or his phone could be dead. I have his charger.
Thank you. Have a great day.
At the tell. And please record your message. When you finish recording, you may hang up or.
All right. Back to Google, I guess.
Okay, so here's the new game plan. It looks like it took me just off course from where I had been earlier. So I'm gonna try just to like try drive on this main road over to try to find Mike.
I didn't have the address.
So I got back, no idea where you were.
Oh, dude, I've been that mad for a while. You gonna be hot.
Yeah.
Okay, that's super frustrating. So five minutes after Zach left, I was done. Didn't really even need the trimmer.
See your work. Let's go take a tour, dude. Don't show it off. Well, I'll use the trimmer to make it tight up a touc but yeah.
But.
Why couldn't I get a hold of you?
Dude, I didn't hit my phone.
That was the worst thing in the world. I hate that.
Just when you think everything could go wrong and you turned a 20 minute job into a two and a half hour job, just when you think you had it all done. Flat tire. And the only reason I took this into the back was because I was so. I was like, oh, I can try to figure it out because it's supposed to be trimmer only in the backyard. I had literally put that in the notes. And I was waiting here on Zach to get the key that I forgot. So I took this bad boy into the back and it was like, it's rocky. I probably ran over like a cinder block. I don't know. I never hit the blades, fortunately. But this tire has seen better days.
Well, I guess we're gonna meet our. Our local dealer, referred to us by our. One of our competitors. Very quickly. All of a sudden the tweels that are like an absorbent amount of money don't seem so bad when in the very first job that we get on recording, we get a flat tire. Great.
At the tone, please record your message. When you have finished recording, you may hang up or press 1 for more options. Hi Pam, this is Mike over at Augusta Lawn Care. Just giving you a call in regards to the estimate we sent over yesterday. Making sure you're able to get that for the property cleanup and the cleanup of the beds in the backyard there. Feel free to give us a call back if you have any questions. I just want to make sure you got it. I am going to go ahead and reserve a spot for you next on June 12, that's Monday. Just to make sure that we do have a spot available for you because we're booking out pretty fast that week. So I'll keep the spot for you, but feel free to give us a call back if you have any questions or send us an email back to that email you got for the estimate. And I appreciate it. Hope you have a great weekend and we'll talk soon. Take care. Bye. Bye.
All right, so Pam was not home, but I followed up with her and kind of gave her a scarcity close for not next week, but the week after because again, trying to put all my projects on that week. So when my employee, my first employee starts, they'll have full time work. Speaking of employee though, the person that we sent a job offer to, I haven't heard anything from them. Okay, so Wade just accepted the position for future general manager, current crew leader. So I'm gonna go ahead and submit the information to Command center this evening. I just fill out a form and then they'll do all the work of setting up payroll and P4P app and copilot, etc. Let's go. And they haven't really confirmed exactly which day they're going to start, so I'm a little bit concerned and. And I think I'm going to continue looking for a first employee because I only had the job ad up for like less than an hour and had so many applicants I turned it off. And so I might have to turn that back on and go back into hiring mode. I'm just putting notes on Pam's account here in Copilot so that way if she calls command center they'll know that I said I was reserving June 12th.
So just making sure the communication is clear.
Alright, I'm calling Gloria back. She's already emailed back to command center with some questions about pricing and saying it was a little bit too expensive. So if I get her on the phone, I think I can close her. As long as I get her on the phone. Otherwise, I'll offer a date of service. She was really happy. She actually commented yesterday on Facebook. Mike came to my house, was very nice, very professional, and responded back with a quote the next day, let's go. Because the only problem she has right now is price. And that's a pretty easy objection to get over. Thank you.
Have a great day.
Hey, Gloria, this is Mike over at Augusta Lawn Care. Just following up place a couple days ago, looking at the yard. I know. I sent the estimate over. I'm just wondering if you'd like to get on the schedule for next week. We do have an available spot on Thursdays that we can do your lawn, and we always do it Thursdays, plus our negative one day just based upon the weather and scheduling and things like that. But kind of like the second half of the week, we make sure we get you on the schedule. So I do have a few more spots on that side of town. So let me know. Feel free to give me a call back. I know you had some questions and Brian had emailed you back about the pricing side of things for the leaves. And so I really do believe even if we just got started with just the mowing for now, you can on the estimate, just accept that one part. And then as we get closer to that time of the year, I think you'll have the confidence in us to be able to continue doing the leaves, and you'll kind of see the extra value in having Augusta take care of the property. But feel free to give us a call back if you have any questions. Otherwise, I am going to go ahead and reserve the spot for next Thursday, just. Just in case you do accept, because I want to make sure we don't fill up that extra couple spots we have on that route. Thanks so much, Gloria. Take care. Bye. Bye.
Hello?
Hey, is this Travis?
Yeah. This is Mike over at Augusta Lawn Care. I was just following up with you in regards to the estimate we sent last week about the mowing.
Oh, yeah, what's up?
Cool. Did you want to get on the schedule for next week? I had a couple more spots on your route. I was just seeing if. If you'd been able to take a look at the estimate. No, I haven't really had the chance.
To talk to my wife about it.
So no worries.
Maybe next week.
Totally fine. Get back to you Totally fine. I'll just follow up next week. You have a great day, Travis. Awesome.
Thanks.
You got it. All right, bye.
Bye.
All right, so I didn't push there. The reason is because he threw out a quick thing that he just wanted to get off the phone call by saying he didn't talk to his wife. Maybe that is true, and I'm not gonna, like, try to call him out right now. The reason I all I was trying to get on that call was permission to call him back again. And so that's why I said, no worries. I'll follow up again with you next week. And what I'm gonna do right now is text it to him again and literally put him there, just so you have this to reference when you speak to your wife. And then I just have permission to call him back again next week and follow up, so. Super cool. Here's your estimate from Augusta Longer of South park. For your reference when speaking with your wife. Click here to see the quote. We have a couple spots available in the route that serves your area. We look forward to serving each property. Set an estimate. Boom. So now I can see the timeline of this estimate, and I can see that he viewed it two days ago, and I just reset it to him again.
All that day's work.
