Mike Andes says hard work like fixing toilets or mowing in extreme heat is unpleasant, which is why hiring reliable laborers is difficult. His solution: pay workers a percentage of revenue they generate so they earn more by working harder and less by taking breaks.
The number one dream job is that of an influencer. I want to diss it. It's hard. Look, I get it. No one wants to fix a bunch of nasty toilets or mow grass on 120 degree heat. And so we're always going to have a challenge trying to find laborers. However, one thing that I found that's really helpful is to pay them a percentage of the revenue they make for the business. They feel like they have skin in the game. The harder they work, the more money they make. If they want to take a bunch of breaks, that's fine. They're just going to make less from the person that's willing to hustle and work hard when it's not comfortable or easy or enjoyable.
