Hey, everyone, my name is Mike Andes. Thanks so much for coming to landscapebusinesscourse.com I'm going to tell you five things that has been keeping your lawn care and your landscaping business small. Over 90% of small businesses that start in America fail within the first five years. And very, very few of those even get to $100,000 per month in revenue. So we're going to take you in this course from 0 to $100,000 every single month in revenue in just 36 months. So how are we going to do that? We're going to overcome the five things that keep lawn care and landscaping businesses small, that keep them from breaking that $100,000 per month in revenue marker. The first thing is systems and procedures. There's a lack of systems and procedures, and that's what keeps companies from growing. What is systems? What is procedures? There's got to be clear roles and responsibilities for everyone in the organization. There's got to be. Exactly. How do you make an estimate? How do you make an invoice? The second thing that keeps small businesses from becoming big businesses is their software systems. So we talked about systems and procedures for number one, but number two is your software system. Without LawnPro, which is the software system that you're going to get as part of this course, we could not have become a business that generates $100,000 every single month. We use so many other software systems as well, things like Stripe, PayPal, Square, Aspenta, of course, Lompro. But without all these things for payment and for routing and for scheduling and for time tracking and all the aspects of your business, you cannot create a business with a paper trail. You cannot just be doing the old fashioned filing cabinet and all of that. You've got to make sure that you're efficient. And one way to do that, the best way to do that is, is use your software correctly. Hey, we're living in the 21st century. Get up with the times. The third thing that keeps your small business from becoming a big business is your leadership skills. We're gonna go over exactly how to become a great leader and create roles and responsibilities for your employees and train them from just someone that has no idea how to mow a lawn, to a laborer, to an office manager, to an estimator. So you can become really the juggler of your business, the one that is just touching the balls, helping everyone else do their roles, complete their responsibilities. And so you aren't just the gu pushing the lawnmower for the next three or four years in order to do that, you have to be a leader and you've got to generate a team mentality within your business. The fourth thing is pricing. Too many lawn care and landscaping owners just make pricing off the cuff. They show up in estimate, kind of given a general idea, they ballpark figures and there's no clear cut decision and no methodology to their estimating. And there's no way to track their profit margin and keep that consistent throughout. So because they're just making up numbers as they go along, we have to create a restaurant like menu where you have a menu of different work job items and you compile those to create your estimate. That way you have a very repeatable profit margin that throughout every job you're not losing money on some and making a lot on others. And you don't have this fluctuation of how much money you have. You can consistently depend on making a certain amount of money, a profit margin per job, whether it be mowing, whether it be landscaping. And you know that because you have a consistent method for pricing out every single job job that you do. Once you've done that, no longer is there negotiating on price and asking for discounts because you know exactly what you need for your business to succeed and you know exactly what your profit margins are, regardless of what job you're doing. The fifth and possibly the most important thing that keeps businesses small and keeps landscaping businesses from breaking that hundred thousand dollars every month is the role of the owner. The role and responsibility of the owner should never stay slight stagnant. They should never be staying at the labor. They should be continually progressing. And we're going to walk through the steps of going right from a laborer to an office manager, to an estimator, and finally a CEO, all in the next 36 months. As the owner, you have to remember that you are a sales organization, whether you like sales or not. As the owner of your business, you've got to sell people on your business, not just your clients. You've got to sell your employees on you and your vision and what you're all about. You've got to sell your new hire on their job, their responsibility, and that you want to make them successful. You are a salesperson and your business is a sales organization that just happens to be selling lawn care and landscaping services.
