Mike Andes argues that small service businesses shouldn't just add more services to compete. Real differentiation comes from how well you deliver what you already do, not from becoming a one-stop shop.
In Utah. There's a lot of good window cleaning companies that kind of all do the same thing. The way of, like standing out, I guess, would be like being that one stop shop.
Offering another service doesn't make you any different than anyone else.
Okay.
What makes you different is the delivery. The fact that you have a site that is well performed, you have 100 Google reviews, like when you answer the phone, you give them a price on the phone. Half of them don't do that. Yeah, like, that's the differentiation. So when you're selling a commodity like mowing grass and cleaning windows, the delivery of the service of the commodity is what differentiates you. Not like I just add more services, therefore I'm different.
