Good morning, good morning! Today I'm up to a few fun activities. I'm about to go get a facial, and then after that I need to go to the store because this one room in our house is just like a random nothing room. Before yesterday, we only had this in here. That's an old chandelier that was in our bedroom. We didn't want it anymore. I need to sell it. This rug was in our apartment, and same for this situation. I really want to make Mike a really nice home office. Like, if he ever needs to make a video spur of the moment, he can just do it here. So we're turning this into a home office room slash vanity get ready room. We went Went to the office and got this standing desk. So we're gonna have his desk in this corner, I think, with his walking treadmill. Right in between there, I want to have a little vanity set up. The kind of vanity that I want though is gonna have like a flip-up mirror, so it will double as a vanity and a desk. It'll be a flat top otherwise, but with a flip-up mirror. But I wanted to check locally just to see if I can find anything at like HomeGoods or Target or anything like that. I know I don't want to spend a ton on it because I don't need anything crazy fancy. Here's what we need today. I either need to buy it, find it in person, or make a call and just buy online because I want to get this done ASAP. We're only going to be able to enjoy this space for a short amount of time before we leave. I kind of know what I want to decorate it with, but I just want to make it like super vibey. I want to make it like a hangout spot slash office slash vanity room. So we'll see what we can find. It's definitely going to be a slow process because I get major decision fatigue whenever I'm trying to commit to— I almost fell down the stairs. Whenever I'm trying to commit to anything like buying furniture. So this might take a while, but we at least need the basics. Like, I want him to be able to have an office, so I need to get a chair today, hopefully. Let's see what we can find. There have been some developments since you guys last saw. I completely struck out at Target, at HomeGoods, didn't find anything. So naturally I resolved to Amazon because that's where I've actually gotten the majority of our furniture and everything that if an in-person store fails me, I just go to Amazon and it works out great. So here's what we're working with now. Just envision what you guys remember last time, okay? The room was blank. There may have been the desk here. There was a chandelier on the floor. Okay, think about that, right? Okay, think about it. Okay, come back here. All right, right over here. All right, here's what it looks like right now. Except we have Michael here and a new chair, which I will give details on this in a second. And then my little vanity. Isn't this thing so cool? I want to show you guys this. This is amazing. First of all, don't look at anyone's houses or addresses because you don't need to know where we live. Okay, I really appreciate how this vanity is not too high. I think I'm coming down with something. We don't need to talk about it. But anyways, back to what I was saying. Super happy this vanity is not too high to block any natural light. I really did not want that, so I'm thrilled with it. But check this out, okay? It's a mirror! Isn't that so cool? And I already plugged it in, so there's 3 different light modes and storage. Then we have a little pull-out drawer here and 2 drawers right here. I love it, it's so cute. My chair is coming soon, don't know when exactly, but soon. I got this from Amazon. It came in and all of this part was assembled. All I had to do was attach the knobs and the legs, like it was seamless. I believe I mentioned it before, but this desk was already at the office. We just brought it here. I got this chair off Amazon for Mike. It was $100, but there's a little— first of all, there's like this little notch, this little cut, which I noticed whenever we were unpacking it, and I was like, that's annoying, but whatever. But then we see this gash, so I emailed the sellers and we'll see what comes of that. We're keeping the rug. And then earlier I listed this TV stand and TV on Facebook Marketplace for $100 each, so if it hasn't sold By now? Local people, hit me up! Buy it up!
Okay?
Now I did order a couch which is gonna go here, and then on this wall I'm gonna have a black and white photo collage with black sconces hanging over it, like lights shooting down on it, and 2 olive trees on either side of the couch. And that may finish off the room besides like decoration, like just little decorations here and there, but I have the vision. I just need to figure out— Mike's laughing at me. I just want to figure out where to get the pictures and what photos I want them to be. But I'm going for like a moody black and white vibey office vibe. You've entered our home office era. We've had this lamp. It was actually at your old apartment, wasn't it? And we moved it to our apartment. And we moved it here. Yeah, so it's been with us through every phase of life. How would you rate the office so far on a scale of 1 to 10? I love it. I love it! Well, this is very exciting. Not even like 12 hours after I listed both the TV and the TV stand on Facebook Marketplace, I got 2 people interested. So one of them's supposed to come by later to get the TV stand, and I'm gonna meet the other one at a local grocery store to give her the TV, or to sell her the TV. I'm so relieved because even though the couch won't be here for a while according to Amazon, I still wanted to like get that room cleared out so we have the space to even assemble the couch and then set it up. I think the biggest to-do on my list right now is figuring out what photos I want to use in a like aesthetic black and white collage for the wall. I think I'm gonna do Mixtiles even though it's a little more expensive. I feel like I'll just be spending so much time trying to figure out like get different kinds of frames, different borders, different photos. It's just so much easier with Mixtiles. Not sponsored, but I wish it was. And also I don't need to put holes in my wall for it because they're just like magnetic adhesive pads that you just stick to the wall. I want to do mix of like pictures I took with my own camera. Like I have a photo of Mount Baker I want to use, and then like I'm torn between 2 different photos of me and Mike. And just like, yeah, basically just like personalized photos but also faceless ones to where it's like still super aesthetic. And then I want like at least one Bible verse on there, and then like a picture of a cross on there, and like other little Easter eggs that are related to business and our personal lives. So right now this is the shopping list that I'm going off of. I'm gonna head to Target and HomeGoods, possibly TJ Maxx, possibly Hobby Lobby. We'll see. what I find. But I just want to see if I can find anything cheaper before just defaulting to Amazon, because that's what I've been doing. It's like I just cannot find anything in person, so I'll go to Amazon. But when it comes to these things like the sconces and the olive trees, like surely I can find cheaper alternatives at like HomeGoods or at least Hobby Lobby.
I am looking at their surprisingly limited supply of trash cans. Usually I thought they had a lot more. This like cute textured white one by Tahari $25. But I looked on Amazon and it's honestly not that much cheaper there, so I think I might get this one just for like my vanity area and even for Mike if he wants to use it. But he's not— he doesn't use stationery, so he won't be throwing anything away.
I walked out with 4 items and only one of them was on my list. I did get a little trash can, super cute, super cute. I got some Mrs. Meyer's spray. The 2 fragile things I got are wrapped, so I'll show you whenever I get home, but one is a candle and one is a cute Cute little like hanging planter with like hanging vines that I'm gonna probably put on my vanity.
So I'm at Hobby Lobby and my first stop was to look for an olive tree.
They're $100.
I only see one and that one's $100. I'm gonna do what I usually do in cases like this and go on Amazon and see how much their olive trees are. Ooh, $82. Ooh, but that one's pretty. 6 feet tall and it comes in a little wicker basket thing. I think I'm gonna strike out in getting an olive tree in person and this one's 7 feet, $70, and I can put it in my own pot. Okay, I'm gonna forfeit getting an olive tree in person unless by some miracle I find a cheap one at TJ Maxx.
Okay, well, no luck at TJ Maxx except as far as house things goes. I did get some hair cream because it's always cheaper at TJ Maxx or Ross or any of the like discounted stores, and 2 shirts. Can you tell what my favorite color to wear is? You probably can't. I was gonna go to Target, but I'm kind of out of time. I need to go home and make sure I log out of everything on that TV because I am gonna be meeting that lady here soon, um, to sell it to her. I need to do that. And then to be honest, I've also just had my fill of the general public for the day. Okay, so far the only thing I actually got that I needed was a trash can. Okay, you're actually sitting on my new vanity right now. I love the lighting in here. It's like kind of direct sunlight but not in a harsh way. I love it. I think this is the candle I got from Mike's desk. Yeah, it is. It's just a black and white teak wood and oak. Whether he burns it or not, like, his choice. It smells really good though, and it'll be nice, like, manly decoration. Last thing I got is this super cute fake plant with, like, the hanging vines. So I think I'm gonna have it on this corner. Cute, love it. That'll probably be the extent of, like, decorations that I'm putting on the surfaces in here. I don't want to clutter it up too much. Which is just like really simple. Now I need to make sure I'm signed out of everything on this TV. All right, it's completely reset. Oh yeah, that is so light. Guess what came in? Well, it very clearly says on the box office chair. I'm so excited to open this up. That couldn't be more perfect. I love this. Oh my goodness! I got a wide cushion so I could sit crisscross or just have a lot more room. No armrest. Then I stopped by Target earlier this morning, and I did get a reed diffuser. So that's another thing off my checklist. It's so cute because at first Mike was like, "Yeah, we can have a home office or whatever." He didn't like. It's not that he didn't care, he was just like, I can do my own kind of thing, whatever. But he's actually so excited about it. He said that he already— like, it's already like a cozy feeling office, and that was my goal. So super happy about that. First of all, it came in a cute jar, but I smelled the room spray scent of the same one. What is it, golden honey or something? Salted honey. Oh my word, you guys, it smells so good. Between Mike's candle and this, this room is about to be smelling amazing. Okay, fast forward a couple weeks. We were doing some stuff behind the scenes and it's all pretty much done. I don't think I'm really gonna add anything else. We might hang one or two more things, but I wanted to show you guys the final product. It looks so good. This is like easily my favorite— new favorite room in the house. Here's Mike's desk. Got this chair— basically all the furniture you're about to see is from Amazon. Chair's from Amazon, desk is from The Office. I think I already said that. And then walking pad. Okay, he loves his new desk. And then this part is my absolute favorite. I'll include some B-roll of what it looks like in the evening, but with the sconces shining above the photos— oh my goodness, it looks so good. Like, check that out. The photos are from Mixtiles, and I cannot talk them up enough. I have 3 of our wedding photos downstairs that are also from Mixtiles, and although it is probably a little pricier than if you just got the photos, printed them, got frames yourself, It's way more efficient as far as time goes, and you don't have to put holes in the wall to hang them. They're magnetic and they have like sticky tabs that go on the wall that don't peel the paint. So 10 out of 10 recommend Mixtiles. And then the olive trees and the couch are from Amazon, and so is my vanity, which I absolutely love. Vanity desk situation. I'm so thankful for the natural light we get in this room. It also helps Mike whenever he records, and I just love everything about this room. So maybe I'll end up linking some of the furniture below if you guys are interested in any of these things. I'm I'm so happy with how it turned out. We might maybe possibly hang this mirror horizontally on the wall just to kind of open it up a little bit more, but this is the office space.
