Mike Andes explains why his landscaping company skips contracts for residential mowing. Chasing a customer over $40 a week costs more than the service itself, and requiring signatures kills sales. The crew just keeps mowing until someone says stop.

$40 per week
He's 95 and we found him with a 2 inch wound on his head. Obviously have stayed here, but meanwhile, as you know, it's getting sunny in Washington and our grass is getting too long. I'm not clear. Is this a contract that we're signing or is it just month to month as we go?
We don't have contracts for any of our residential mowing customers simply due to the fact that, like, do you really think I'm going to take someone to court over a $40 per week mow? It'll cost more in legal fees than it would just to be let someone out of the contract anyways, so. So I'm just adding more friction to the sales process by requiring a signature and multiple steps to get the contract enforced.
Because there's no contract here, we'll continue mowing until you ask us to stop. So no contract though.
