Mike Andes warns that home-service businesses risk going out of business over the next decade if they fail to adopt basic technology: a website, stored (on-file) credit-card payments, a CRM, and efficiency-score tracking. He acknowledges that technology is uncomfortable for many in the trades (citing his lawn-care/landscaping background) but insists these steps are necessary for survival.
But in order to win in the next 10 years, in any home service business, it will come down to whether or not you have a website, whether or not you take credit cards on file, whether or not you have a CRM, whether or not you track efficiency score. So the existence of your business is in jeopardy if you don't figure these things out. I understand it's uncomfortable and it's not fun. You don't enjoy it, but you got to do it if you want the business to survive. Look, I come from lawn care Landscaping. Like everyone says, they don't know technology. They're computer illiterate.
