Mike Andes visits Top Dogs Roofing in Louisiana and argues that repairs are more profitable than new roof installations. The company recommends shifting your business model to focus on repairs while subcontracting new installs, and marketing repairs as an insurance product that protects homeowners and their families.
I flew out to Top Dogs Roofing in Louisiana and they're finding out that the real profits in the roofing industry is actually in repairs, not brand new roofs.
On food roofs. We do make more. It covers most of the expenses when we do the repairs. That's when it comes most of just plain profits.
After that we're just going to market and like focus on roof repair. That's all we focus on. And then if the new ones come in, we just sub those out. All of our energy should be spent on the thing that actually brings them profit. And when you, when you switch from installing shingles to doing repairs, you're selling the insurance and the feeling to them that okay, that's not going to cause a $50,000 repair on my house. That's going to protect my house, that's going to protect my family and all the rest of it. You're selling insurance and that's a good business model.
