Short YouTube video (shorts) in which Mike Andes defines the operations manager role. He states the operations manager should report directly to the owner and handle hiring, marketing, making recommendations about business purchases (equipment), and staffing decisions (hiring/firing) to keep the schedule filled.
What are the most important tasks of an operations manager? So for us, an operations manager is really going to be the person that directly reports to the owner. So I am going to want them to do hiring, marketing, and really, they're going to be the ones that make the recommendations to me of what we should be buying in the business. So if we should be acquiring more equipment, if we should be marketing to fill the schedule, people need hiring or firing, they're going to do all of that.
