A senior dating a freshman often isn't about attraction. It's because they think you'll do whatever they want. That power imbalance, dressed up as maturity, is the whole point.

If a senior is intentionally looking for a newcomer on campus, I'm not saying the one that it just naturally happens. I'm saying they're looking. Why are they looking for the freshman? Vulnerable, taking advantage. But you're sitting here as freshmen going, "I'm not vulnerable. They're not going to take advantage of me." That's what most people think, honestly. So here's why they chose you. It's not because you're gorgeous, which I'm sure you are. It's not because you're good looking. I'm sure you are. They chose you for one reason: because you will. You'll do whatever they want is what they believe. I'm not saying you will actually do that, but that's what they believe. Is that a compliment or an insult? It's an insult. And if you talk to most people who are dating a 22-year-old when they're 18, they love to talk about how mature the 22-year-old is, which means the attraction was not about actually being attracted to each other. It was about an authority figure being in the relationship. That's not healthy.
