We fear confrontation until we believe it matters. A parent protecting a child, a friend stopping a drunk driver, a soldier in combat: each acts not because they want the outcome, but because they see the confrontation as worth the risk.
Chapters
Do we have a fear of confrontation as human beings, yes or no? Yes. We do. We do. Unless we believe the confrontation is worth it. Then we have no problem. Some of you go, what do you mean? Well, a loving parent throws themselves in harm's way to protect their child. Yes. A loving parent will do that. Your friend is about to leave a place drunk, blitzed, and about to try to drive home. You're going to try to stop this friend, yes or no? Yes. Of course you are. All forms of confrontation, you had no problem with. Because you believed it was worth it. You're in uniform, which means you're willing to do what for this country? Die for it. You're willing to die for it. Does that mean you want to die for it? No, it means that if the moment called upon that I had to do something others wouldn't be willing to do, I would do it. Doesn't mean you want to. It means you believe it's worth it. Huge difference.
