Lower your expectations, not your standards. Demanding perfection before a date traps you in an impossible search for 0.0111% of the world. Stay open to diverse people instead.

Let's say it's a date and you're getting ready and you look in the mirror. What do most people do honestly at these moments in life? They do this. It's got to go perfect. I have to look perfect. This has got to go perfect. That's what people do. Instead, I want you to look in the mirror and do this. Tonight's about to get interesting. Here's what that does. It frees you of all the expectations. So I want you to all hear the next phrase I'm about to say for the rest of your life. I want you to use it. Lower your expectations, not your standards. Huge difference. Lower your expectations, not your standards. How many agree you hear people in this room talking about the perfect person? This is who I'm going to date, and they have to meet all these criteria. And that's the only kind of person I'm ever going to date. And you're sitting there going, that's like 0.0111% of the world would fit those criteria. And they think that's a healthy expectation. By the way, is that healthy? Yes or no? No. No. Because you know what they just did? They slammed the door to any possibility that other human beings could be interesting, could be unique, and they lose out is what happens.
