Whoever starts sexual activity needs to get consent, regardless of gender. The question "why is it always on the guy" misses that women and non-binary people initiate too. Consent is the initiator's job, not a guy thing.

Hi, today's question is, Mike, why is it always on the guy to get consent? Now, this is a question that we often hear, so we need to address it right away. This question of, why is it always on the guy to get consent? Well, first of all, it's on all partners to get consent. It has never been on one gender. Second of all, that comment, why is it always on the guy to get consent, Implies that there's either only men involved with a partner. In other words, what if it's 2 women, right? And so suddenly you're leaving people out of a conversation. If you are going to be sexually active with another person and you are going to be the one who's going to initiate or wants to initiate the sexual activity, it is on you to always request consent. Always. This, by the way, is true of all genders. Always. All sexual orientations, all identities, all expressions. All people are part of this conversation. So when somebody says, why is it always on guys? Just stop and go, well, where did you hear that? Because it's on everyone. Now, sometimes you'll hear people, I've seen it where men will become defensive and go, why is it on me? And I'll just pause and go, why are you interpreting it that way? Why are you hearing it that way when no one's mentioning guys? And they'll say, well, I'm normally the initiator. Oh, well, that's why it's on you. If you're the initiator, than it is on you to make sure you have consent.
