How often do you say no? You can respect every human being with your whole heart and still tell someone no. That's not mean. That's called a boundary, and you should own it. Be proud of it, actually. Here's the myth I want to blow up, that keeping certain people out of your life somehow makes you a bad person. No. Some people should be kept out. That's not being mean. That's being loving to you. That's clarity for who you are and what matters in your life. Because here's what nobody teaches. No is not mean. Saying no to one thing is how you say yes to that which really matters in life. My friends who are masters at saying no have the most full and fulfilling lives. Your boundary isn't a wall, it's a door, and you decide who walks through it. So stop apologizing for it. Stop shrinking it. Own it. Be proud of it. Declare it. By the way, a boundary is not a thing you have to always say to other people. It can be the thing you say to yourself. I can respect everyone. I can care deeply, and I can still choose who I want to spend my time with and how I want to spend my time. Own those boundaries. Be proud of them. It is where respect begins. Want more of this? Follow me. Want to bring me to your school to speak? Reach out. Let me know.
