A short segment from a YouTube video (by Kosta Ouzas) where two speakers discuss algorithmic trading. They describe receiving many dubious proposals ("99% is trash"), express skepticism toward unproven methods (examples like "phases of the moon"), and emphasize testing algorithms — one promising algorithm showed an improving performance curve.
You know, I was like you. I was. I was not part initially of a team. I get contacted by all kind of people, you know, they show me all kind of crazy things like, oh, let's use the phases of the moon, maybe goes with the power. All kind of crazy stuff, okay? All the time. The bottom line is this. I get contacted by a lot of people and 99% is trash, right? And they told me this story, say, we were afraid to contact you because if you didn't like what we were.
Doing, you were going to tell everybody.
Look at me, Romeo.
These guys that are trash, don't ever with them, because it's what I am, you know, I want to focus on reality, you know, what is real. So I told them when they told me all these things, right? Because I hear it all the time, oh, we can do this, we can do that. Say, okay, guys, let me test it, right? This is our scientist does, let me test it. Let me test.
The algorithm.
I started to see this curve going up, up, up.
Up, up, up.
And the consistency of it, it really convinced me.
