Why I created Groove | Misty Tripoli

Misty Tripoli created Groove, a dance community, because movement literally saved her life. She built it for people who love to dance and those convinced they can't, offering freedom from judgment and a way to reconnect with joy and self-expression through your body.

Why I created groove. Well, I didn't create groove to try and teach people how to dance. I created groove because dance literally saved my life. Because for many years, I felt trapped. I felt trapped in a body that I hated. Trapped by expectations, Trapped by the pressure to look a certain way, to be a certain way, to move a certain way. And then one day I just said all that. Because here's the truth. Dance is not about getting it right or mastering choreography or whatever. It's about feeling frickin good in your body. It's about being in your body and moving in your own unique way, the way that you were meant to move. Without fear, without judgment, and without pressure. That's why I created groove. Groove is for people that love to dance. And groove is for people who were told they couldn't dance. And for the ones that, you know, feel awkward, too old, too uncoordinated, too big or too whatever to ever feel free on a dance floor. But it's all a lie. Because the truth is, we were all born dancing. And the only thing stopping you from dancing is the fear of what other people might think. And that could end today. But groove is more than just movement and dance. It's about connection. It's about, you know, that we were made to move together as humans. And the humans have been dancing in tribes, in celebration and in unity since the beginning of time. It's in our frickin DNA. But somewhere along the way, we stopped, we disconnected. And we forgot how powerful it is to move as one. And that's why groove is different. Because it brings people together in a way that nothing else does. It unites us and it reminds us that we are part of something bigger. And it gives people of all ages, sizes, shapes, backgrounds and abilities the space to be seen to be fully themselves. All while moving together, unified as one. You cannot get it wrong. And this isn't about dance. It's about life. And it's about learning to trust yourself, owning your own space, letting go of fear and moving through the world with confidence and joy while experiencing connection and community. Groove isn't just a class. It's an evolution in the way that we experience dance. And you, my friend, are invited. So what are you waiting for? Get your ass on the dance floor. Go to getgroove.com and I'll see you on the dance floor.
