Don’t read it. Seriously.

Mollie Amkraut Mueller walks through ChatGPT's Deep Research feature, which runs 10-20 minute web searches on a topic. She shows prompts for go-to-market strategy and user research, and warns you not to read the full results. A follow-up video covers how to pull out what matters.

All right, welcome to Watch Me AI Today I want to show you how I use the Deep Research function. If you're not familiar with Deep research, it is a function that is now available in most of the go to models like ChatGPT and Plod and I'm pretty sure several others. And it you find it by opening up your I'm in chat GPT right now and finding this little icon down here called Deep Research. If you don't see it, it could be that you need to upgrade. I'm not actually sure what's included in which tier at ChatGPT these days, but pretty sure it's in not the most expensive one. So you in here and you click Deep Research. Now Deep Research is a function that when you ask it to research something it's going to go off and spend like 10 minutes plus researching that thing, scraping the whole world wide web and coming back with some really good research for you. So how I use this is when I want to get the best expertise on something new that I'm doing at work. So for example, if I want to better understand go to market strategy for early stage consumer startups, I would put in a prompt to have it research what all the experts are saying there. If I'm a product manager, maybe I want to understand in spring of 2025 what are the best practices for user research or the best practices for AB testing, messaging on websites or whatever. Whatever the thing is that you are curious about or need to get better at for your job. Throw it in here and I'll show you how I do it. So let's, let's run with that last example. I just said maybe you want to make sure you're staying up to date on the best user research practices in spring of 2025, particularly given AI. So I would put something in here like to a deep dive on best practices in user research for digital consumer products in spring 2025. You can give it some context which is usually helpful. I want to make sure I'm operating at the front tier and impress my boss and team with knowing the latest. Okay, there's a prompt. It's not necessarily the best prompt but it's going to do the job. With Deep Research they will always, it will always ask a follow up question or several questions to make sure that before it goes and spends 10 to 20 minutes doing research thing, it's doing what you want. You can answer these questions to guide it. I usually get lazy and I say just go. So now it's going to start and it's going to do, like, this much research. This is going to go slow. You should go off and do something else and just let it run. And then once it comes back in 10 or 20 minutes with a huge chunk of text on all of the expertise that you were asking for, the answer, the next step is do not read it. Do not read all of that text. That is a major waste of time. Instead, I'm going to tell you how to get what you need from that text in a very fast way using a different AI tool. That's going to be the next video.
