CASE STUDY: How this anxiety coach went from $500/month to $10,000/month (part 1)

Matt, an anxiety coach in London, went from earning £400 a month to £5-8K monthly after joining Morgan Gillis's coaching program. He narrowed his niche, fixed his messaging, and built a structured client acquisition system. He credits the shift to committing fully rather than half-heartedly, and moving from scarcity thinking to growth.

All right, what is going on, beautiful human? You are in for a freaking treat today. So what I have for you is an interview. It's a case study. It's with a client who went from making about $500 a month to an average of about $15,400 a month. I say those numbers, those are in US dollars. I'm just saying that because most of my clients are in the US. This particular client is in London, so when he speaks, he will use— he started at £400 a month and went to— actually, in this— well, I'll explain this context in a minute, but in the video he'll say he went to £5,000 to £8,000 a month. Here's the context I want to give you. And this is an older interview. I don't know why, but I've been really bad about filming testimonials with people and not putting them out. And so just a little bit of context. This is an older testimonial. This is the first testimonial we filmed. We have another one that we're probably going to film, but I don't have that yet. And so I'm going to give you this one. But in this video, he talks about how he went from about £400 a month to about £5,000 to £8,000 a month. Again, in US dollars, that'd be from, you know, $500 a month to $10K a month, something like that. The other context I want to give you is this is before we ever had ads. Okay. So this client was able to get to £8,000 a month, you know, 5 to 8, let's just say 6,500 or so, without the ads. And then October of last year, we started implementing ads with him. He got to the £10,000 a month mark. He's since got to the £12,000 a month mark consistently, which is about, for US people or anyone who uses that as a currency, that's about $15,400-ish. I just kind of got the math up in front of me, $15,359.51. If you wanna be technical right now. So that's what he's doing on average a month, about $15K a month US. And yeah, that was before the ads. And this client, he's actually been back. This is actually a testament right here. He's been back to the program 3 times. This is his 3rd time inside the program. He's back now and we're working on scaling. He has the ads now. We're basically working on scaling with ads. We're launching a group for him. He's already sold out some spots. We're gonna have that sold out probably by September. And then we're basically working on scaling through ads and a group and team. So without any further ado, I'll let you dive in. I'm going to— I'm just going to let it roll. I'm going to let it rip. But this is the pretty much raw, unedited testimonial case study, if you will, on how he got to the, you know, started hitting his first £8,000 months. And there'll probably be a part 2 once he sells out his group program in September. So like I say, without any further ado, let's, let's let it rip. Actually, you know what? I lied. Before we let this play, there's one thing that I want to say. If you already know you want help with this stuff, for Christ's sake, just click the link below this video and book a call with us. Okay? I don't have a big agenda for those calls other than the fact that I'm just like, I want to learn more about your situation. And if I think I can help, we can talk about what that looks like. It's literally like, let me help you make a game plan. And if you want help executing this game plan, Cool. Here's what I got for you. So if you know you want help with this stuff, you don't want to do it yourself. You don't want to take the 10 years, $100,000, you know, whatever struggle street that I was on, and you just want to like get the fast, you know, way to do that, then just click the link below. Let's book in a time to have a chat. Worst case scenario, we don't work together and I leave you with some sort of epic free resource to help you, right? You get something for free. So you can't lose. Click the link. Book the call. Um, pause this video and do it right now. Um, and, uh, if for whatever reason you don't want to pause this video and do it right now, then, you know, it is what it is. Let's, let's just play this video. Cool. Give us your name, where you're from, and what kind of coach you are.
Cool. So, um, my name is Matt. I'm from London, the UK. And I suppose what kind of coach am I? It sort of lends itself to two things. I'm a life coach. Um, But through going through this process, um, very much dialing in on exactly what I do, which is specialize in anxiety and fear. And that's exactly what I do now. I'm an anxiety and fear coach and talk on stage as well from time to time.
Cool, cool. So you're technically a life coach, or you were a life coach, but we've kind of honed it in a little bit more since you've come into the program. We're like, we're helping people with anxiety now.
Yeah, absolutely. I mean, I always I'm passionate about helping people and helping people break free and level up and things like that. And I was, I think prior to the program, was trying to hit everyone and not put a label on that. But in doing that, I wasn't actually helping anyone. So, um, I honed in on exactly what mattered and what mattered most to me, which was anxiety especially. And that's specifically where I help people now.
Cool, cool. I love it. Okay, where was your business before we started working together? Sorry.
All good. My dog is literally about to walk in and I know he's gonna start going crazy nuts, so I wanted to get out of the way. Okay, I wanna keep the light good here.
Yeah, it's good.
Okay, is that fine?
Yeah, it's good.
Okay, cool. So I go, are we, are we okay here?
Yeah, we're good here. I think if you're, do you feel comfortable?
Yeah, no, I'm fine. Yeah, fine.
Cool. Okay. Yeah. Where was your business before we started working together? Before you came into the Fast Track?
Where was the business? The business was dipping my toe in. I would do bits here and there. I would, it was my passion. It was my, um, what I wanted to do, but I didn't dive two feet in. Um, in monetary terms, I was maybe making around £400 per month, which might equate to maybe $750 per month at best. Um, and that wasn't always consistent either. So that, that's pretty much where I was at.
Right, right. Okay, so you were at £400 a month, um, and you were kind of like half in, half out, like your toe was kind of dipped in. You like the thing, but you weren't going— I still work two other 2 other jobs.
Okay, basically I still work 2 other jobs, um, and this is what I wanted to do, but I didn't commit fully. A little bit of that whole entrepreneurial type thing and that sort of thing. And then, um, basically I had a moment where, turn of 2023, I was like, this is it. I went on a course. A couple of days after the course, I saw your video on Instagram. I was like, this is my moment. It resonated. I took the plunge and here we are.
Got it. Got it. Okay. When you were at that $400 a month, like, what were you— what were you struggling with? Like, what was— what were you— what did you feel like you were missing at the time in order to take it to the next level?
Definitely my messaging in terms of exactly what I offered and what I helped people with. As I said before, I wanted to help everyone level up in their mind and break free from what held them back. But I didn't know how to get that across in my messaging. I would say alongside that, who I was speaking to. So I didn't really dial in on any particular person who I was speaking to. And the last thing I think was the consistency of it. I think like anything, you need to be consistent at this over a period of time, and I wasn't. So I'd say those were the three main things.
Got it. Okay, cool. Um, where are you at now?
Where am I at now? Um, I am consistently £5,000 to £8,000 per month, which is a really, really, really good place. Um, that's a mixture of my one-to-one practices, my talks on, on stage as well. Um, so I'm consistently at £5,000 to £8,000. That's pounds, that is. So that might equate to near to the magic 10K mark in dollars. Um, I'm consistently there and pushing on. October is forecasting to be my first £10,000 month.
That's so exciting!
Oh, that's so good.
I love that.
So yeah, it's been— yeah, it's been huge for me. It's been huge. I think not only the program, not only what I've got out of the program specifically, but I think it's funny from what I do, but even the mental side of it, of in, in sort of UK terms, jumping two feet into it and being like, this is what I do, quitting my other two jobs, this is it now. And that whole spiraling process of going through the program and things like that has been massive for me.
I love that, super cool. So now you're at 5K, 5 to consistent 8K, and that's in pounds, so in US that might be 10. Pushing to potentially that first maybe £10,000 month in October. I just want to ask a question, like, just out of curiosity, like, how did that actually change your life? I know you left your two jobs, but like, money's just a thing, just sits in your account, like, okay, cool. But like, has it allowed you to do anything differently? Like, what's on the horizon?
I think, I think, I mean, I'm quite a simple guy, if I'm honest with you. I don't do the extravagant things and that sort of thing just because I don't like But I think one thing it has really allowed me to do is I'd done a lot of work prior to when it turned 2023 to really focus on block it, like the mindset blocks and the money mindset blocks especially, and things like that. But it's allowed me just to live with a little bit more of a freedom to focus on growth. That's the biggest sort of thing for me that I've really loved, is that I'm focused on growth. Like, I'll put my Instagram boosted reels out there and not think about that in terms of give it too much thought of really I should keep hold of that bit of money. Or I'll invest in, for example, enrolling on a future program with you, which is what I've done on this occasion. And because I'm committed now to further growth, I'm committed now to achieving more, I'm committed now to leveling up even further and going 10K months, 20K months. Not all about money, but in terms of just relying on that. So I think that's the biggest shift for me. It's allowed me to almost focus, shift my focus from trying to avoid pain to going gaining pleasure in my life.
Okay, cool. I love it. Sweet. Okay, um, what do you think would be maybe the, the major things that you think we did together in order to get you from making, you know, £400 a month to that consistent, you know, £5,000 to £8,000 a month?
For me, um, definitely getting clear on who I was speaking to, um, 100% my ideal client and, and who that looked like. Second was on my messaging. If it's funny, if anyone wants to go through my Instagram profile, you can see— excuse me— prior to, uh, when I started in April, my messaging is here, there, and everywhere. Basically, I'd be focusing on a bit of this, a bit of that. Now it's all anxiety-focused, all fear-focused and breaking free of that and everything around that. Excuse me, sorry. Excuse me. And the last thing I would say is just having the accountability of consistency of showing up time and time and time again in one of the— really sorry. Sorry, I can start that again.
No, it's all good. Yeah, go ahead.
The last thing I'd say would be the consistency and the showing up of the consistency and the accountability with that. In one of the— I think it's in one of the early modules, I think you touched on like there's an 8-week or a 6 to 8-week time frame of someone coming into your world to that transpiring into a potential client and warming that lead up to become a hot client and things like that. And that's been my— a big focus for me And obviously I'm constantly bringing new people into my world, so therefore that constant 6 to 8 weeks is always regenerating and restarting. But over time that turns into 12 weeks, 16 weeks, 20 weeks of consistent content that then all of my audience are getting. But it's with the mind frame that there's new people in here who are just starting their 6 to 8 week journey with me, right? And that's what's kept my content fresh, that's what's kept me focused. Most importantly, consistent throughout the whole process.
Got it, got it. Okay, so kind of what I'm hearing is number one is getting clarity on your ideal client, and then with that clarity of your ideal client, then dialing in the message that you're sending that ideal client. And then it's just the consistency of knowing like, cool, this is the system, I understand how to get people into the system, how long it's going to take, and just knowing what that looks like. And that's like allowing you to stay more consistent.
Absolutely, absolutely. Yeah, I think if I was to think of it as this is all I have to do now and be consistent 5 times a week, 6 times a week, and show up with posting this and that, for people that— I think that can be quite overwhelming just to think that this is it, this is it. But as I say, I chunk it up into there's new people coming in, and if I focus on delivering for this person or this group of people or this group of people in little chunks like that, It just regenerates that 6 weeks, as I say, and that's been really cool for me.
Totally. And I think that's a good point too. Like, that consistency is important, but that consistency without having the proper system— like, you could be consistent but you don't have a strategy, and like 8 weeks you'll just be like, oh crap, I still don't have the result. But it's like, cool, this is the system, I just need to now execute on this, if that makes sense.
Absolutely, absolutely. And also what that's allowed me to do is because there's obviously so much content you can put out there, is also regenerate as well some of the content that I had done from 8 to 10 weeks prior, but then reposition that in a different way, which then older people in my world, in terms of people who'd been in my world for a little bit longer, will maybe hear it in a different context. But then new people would also hear it for the first time and it would resonate as well. So that's been a really cool way of putting it across.
Got it. Cool, cool, cool. Okay, so ideal client, messaging to them, and then just a consistent system to follow. Um, I think my last question for you would be like, did you have any fears or hesitations or any sort of that thing in terms of jumping into the program? Like, is there any reason you almost didn't pull the trigger?
Big time, big time. I mean, for me, the whole if I'm being honest, investment into business coaching or whatever label you want to put on it was something I'd done previously and it hadn't gone too well. But also was a case of, um, really, should I be spending this money on it? Should I really be putting that towards it? And again, this comes from the whole money mindset type of thing, of scarce mindset type thing, of I'm gonna hold this money, whereas Really, as I say, I went through this course and then, um, I saw your reel and it resonated with me. And I was like, you know what, for once I'm going to trust myself here. I'm going to trust myself. I'm going to trust what I believe. I'm going to go in with this because the time is now for me. I felt like I was at that stage and I committed. And I did have all the fears, I had all the doubts. I mean, I work with anxiety, I work with fear myself, but I still have these things myself. And I committed to it. And it was almost, I'd say, within the first 10 days there was already a huge shift in the— I didn't necessarily get the result in 10 days, but I had the huge shift in my mind. And then it's just been a snowball since then. So yeah, but there was definite hesitation, definite resistance at the start. I think you probably got about 40 different inbox messages from me.
Yeah, well, we had a little chat in the DMs.
Exactly.
Exactly. Okay, so it sounds like it was two things. One thing was like, hey, I've already invested into some sort of business mentorship in the past and that didn't work. And so you've got these like previous stories about like, well, I tried it once, like how do I know the same thing isn't going to happen? And then the second thing was just like a normal human thing, honestly. Like if you maybe— if money isn't super abundant for you, you kind of get that little, that scarcity bit. You're like, maybe I should spend this, maybe I shouldn't. And just like kind of one on wanting to hold it tighter to the vest kind of thing.
Yeah, absolutely. I mean, yeah, I wasn't at a place necessarily at the start where like I had just money ready to use and this sort of thing. It was an investment for me in terms of it was a sizable investment that I would notice, but I was committed to saying now is my time, like now is the time. I'd been through this process as I said, I'd invested in someone previously, but also that I'd been toying with this whole jumping two feet into it for like 2, 3 years at this point. Yeah, it's like, when eventually are you gonna draw the line here?
Yeah.
And this, this was my moment. And as I say, your content resonated with me. I must have, in a 48-hour period, must have gone through at least 30, 40 of your videos and things like this, just rinsing everything. And I was like, this speaks to me. And I'm in London, you're in Canada, but it speaks to me and I want to go with it. And that was it for me.
Yeah, cool, cool. Is there anything in particular that made you— that flipped the switch? Just out of curiosity, like, I'm almost just thinking of for that person who's trying to flip the switch or whatever, like, is there anything that did it for you? Any certain thought process, pattern, anything like that?
The lead-up for me, um, if I'm honest, as I say, it'd been 2 or 3 years of thinking, and not just thinking but like half dipping my toe in, half jumping in but then getting out of the water type of analogy. For me, this was a case of like what I sometimes talk to my clients— it got to a stage of no more. Like, how long am I going to continue doing these 2 jobs? How long am I going to continue sort of not scraping the barrel, but like having enough money to do this, but then I need to save and then do this and then do this. And by no means am I silly with it now, but the shift for me was just saying I want more for myself. I want a high standard for myself. I want a higher quality of living. I want more for my fiancée and my family. Like, this was it for me. And as I say, I'd enrolled— I said it a couple of times— I enrolled on a course literally a week or so before you come into my world. And then I saw your, um, your reel, and I was like, you know what, this is it. Indulged in pretty much everything that you'd put out there, and I was like, this is it, I'm doing it, I'm committing. And there was the resistance, but I'm committing.
Got it. Okay, so it's just like that enough is enough moment, basically.
Enough is enough. Yeah, I thought, yeah, if it's not— my whole thing was like, if not now, then when? Right, like if you're not going to do it in this moment when you know it's right, when you know the time, when everything's speaking to you and telling you to do it, and your only resistance is the money— could it or could it not work? It's like, when is going to be the good time? You've gone through this enough times.
You just coached yourself, basically.
Literally, yeah.
Too good. Um, cool. I think my last question is just like, is there anything that you would maybe tell that person who's where you were? And I always say don't sugarcoat it, like don't make something up just for this video, but like what would you honestly, like from your heart or your soul or whatever, like tell that person who's kind of in the same place?
I would say, I would say initially for me it's a, it's a two-footed process. And what I mean by that is I think I've seen people in other programs as well, they half dip their foot in and get okay-ish results. With anything, and with this especially, I believe that the infrastructure and the, um, the tools are there for you. The program is incredibly detailed, you're incredibly attentive, and I'm not just saying that. Everything is there. This success blueprint is there, but it requires the effort, the time, the work to do it. And I think that anyone who's thinking about it, that's the first point, is making sure that you're prepared to do that. Because that would be the big thing for me. The second thing I suppose would be, is someone who's hesitating and thinking, should I, shan't I, should I, shan't I? What's, what's the consequence of not? That's, that was the thing for me. What's the consequence of not type thing. And I think that when I had them two things aligned, I was like, I'm fully focused, I'm fully committed, and the consequence of not is still living in this— again, I, I'd use it for my own mindset, but scarcity mindset. Um, the consequences staying here So for me, I was at a place where I wanted to do, and that's what I'd say for other people. So I've gone off on a little bit of a tangent there. But that would be the real key thing that I would share. I think the program, I don't think, the program, as I say, for me is a success blueprint. And what I mean by that is it is a manual to get yourself to 5, 10, 10K+ months. I believe that wholeheartedly. One, because I've done it. Two, because I was the skeptic at the start. But three, because I've been part of it. I've been part of the program enough to see the results that it gets for me and for other people. And it all it requires is like what I said, the consistency to say, this is what I do. Follow these steps. I'm a very much a process guy. Follow these processes. Put your little twist on it in whatever way that Matt Young does, which is different to Morgan Gillis, which is different to whoever. But follow this process and it will help produce X result. Totally. And for me it has, and I've seen for so many it has. And that would be my real sort of little bit on top to add to someone is that if you're gonna do it, do it. Like, don't just half go, yeah, I'm good, because no one's gonna become a winner from that.
Right, right. Okay. So the Success Blueprint is there. And then for the person I was thinking about it. It's like, just decide that you're ready to do this. If you're actually ready to do this and put in the work, everything that you need is there. And if you're— if you're— if you've got that piece and you're struggling to like pull the final trigger, it's like, ask yourself, what will it cost you if you don't do this? And if you don't like that answer, it's probably time for you to jump.
Yeah, 100%. I think that's— that's the scary bit, don't get me wrong. Like, I talk about it, I work with clients on this. But I felt it myself. That's the scary bit, but it's almost like that's the bit with the most rewards, you know. So, um, yeah, that's, that's, that's what I would say. In, in the time that I've been on the program, as I say, the biggest difference in me— yes, it helped, it's helping continue me financially, it's helping grow my business, it's helping this— but the thing that I— one of the biggest things that has helped me with, I think, is that whole mindset I had previously is like obliterated that. And as I said, now I'm just purely focused on growth and going upwards as opposed to looking down and hoping that I'm okay, if you know what I mean.
Yeah, totally, totally know what you mean, for sure. So yeah, thank you, I appreciate it.
No worries, thank you.
Okay, so that's it, uh, that's the video. I hope it was super helpful. Um, I'm really stoked to get part 2 out there In this part, he was more so talking about the foundational stuff, right? For him, it was nailing his, his niche and his messaging. We obviously did some work on offer and pricing and whatever and got him the marketing system and, you know, got him to the, you know, £8,000 mark. And then we still have that other testimonial to film where we talk about the ads, how that got him to £10,000 a month, pounds, I mean, and, and then how he got to £12,000 and certainly like I'll be really excited to film this next testimonial when he's on the other side of this group and that's launched and we're working on— we can tell more of the stories of scaling. So anyways, that's it. My last thing for you is, hey, if you want help with this stuff, if you're like, okay, you know what, I've been seeing Morgan's Instagram content, I've seen her stuff, I've seen her post a bazillion testimonials. Now I've got this long-form one. Okay, I'm ready to stop being skeptical. I'm ready to book a call. I'm ready to solve the leads problem, whatever it is for you. Click the link below this video. And yeah, best case scenario, you find the best coach in the world, AKA myself. No, I'm just kidding. I mean, behind every just kidding, there's a little truth. You know, I do kind of, Anyways, we're not going to go there, but yeah, I lost my train of thought. Just if you want fucking help, book in a call, right? Best case scenario, I can help you. We partner, we— you become a Matt testimonial, right? Worst case scenario, I feel like I can't help you or you don't feel like I can help you or whatever.
