If you are having a particularly tough time right now, whether that be in business, in life, in relationships, I want to share with you one powerful lesson that can help you turn it all around and stop struggling. First, I'm going to tell you a story about how I learned, or should I say relearned, this lesson. And then at the end of this video, I'm going to leave you with 3 ideas that you can use to actually take action and implement this lesson in your own life. So first, I have a confession to make. Over the last 3 or 4 months, I've been struggling. Depressed almost. Just struggling to keep negative thoughts at bay, struggling with worry and doubt and fear and overwhelm and feeling like I'm not where I should be and I'm not taking the action I should be taking and just feeling like everything's a grind, and even every video I try to make is so freaking hard. But then I had a thought, you know, how is it possible that 3 or 4 months ago I felt like I was on top of the world? Everything felt effortless. I felt like I was in flow. What was the difference between now and back then? And then it hit me. I was focusing too much on me, on my goals and my dreams and my aspirations and what I wanted. And I was missing a key element, the one that sets my soul on fire, the one that makes me get out of bed in the morning, the thing that pushes me to do things that I don't want to do. I was failing to remember that it's also about you. Now, not to say that it's not about me, me? Of course it is. Of course that's part of it. But the deeper part of it, the more motivational part of this for me, is that it's also about you. So a lesson that I've been learning in these last, really, 7 days— or relearning again, as I should say— is just I've had to shift my thoughts. I've had to shift my focus to something really that's bigger than myself and to shift my thoughts to a place of giving and gratitude and service above self. It's about helping you just as much, if not more truthfully, than it is about helping me because honestly, like sometimes just, just helping me, that doesn't always get me out of bed in the morning. And there are a few things I did. There are a few actions I took that basically helped me do a complete 180 on my mindset and my outlook and all that stuff. And I want to share those with you because I think you can use these same things, if not similar things, to help you make the same shift. So really, this shift I'm talking about is along the lines of leading with love, doing things from a place of love, um, but also just giving more and being more grateful and expressing more appreciation. So one thing that I did in this last week was I sent two books on Amazon, one to my aunt and one to actually my business accountability partner. And, you know, I sent my aunt a book that it was kind of like a, I guess, like a spiritual book that I thought that she would really enjoy reading in the mornings and that would really help her out. And it just It felt really good to just, you know, spend a little money and use Amazon and send her that book because I know that she's gonna love it and she's gonna appreciate it and that it's gonna help her, right? Another thing I did, I sent a book to my business accountability partner. It's the same book that I'm reading right now, and it's just something I really feel is gonna help her get closer to her goals. I think she's gonna learn some stuff from it, and I think it's gonna make an impact on her life, and so You know, I spent the $25 each or $50 total and I sent those books to those two people. And the feeling that that gives me is phenomenal, you know? I'm a super frugal person and sometimes it's hard for me to part with cash, you know? But I just had this thought, it's like, you gonna take this to your grave with you? Like, send them the books! Like, if you died tomorrow, wouldn't you have rather spent spent that money on your friends or your family and actually done nice things, you know? So I sent two people two books, just a tiny little thing, $25 each, who cares, right? But the feeling that that gives me is phenomenal, right? That feeling of giving, you know? Of helping people, of making an impact, it's amazing, right? Another thing that I did, which I guess is again along the lines of money is, you know, I went out for dinner with friends and again, I'm a really frugal person, but I just, I don't know, I just paid the bill. I don't usually do that. I'm pretty careful a lot of times when I go out to eat about not spending too much and that sort of thing, but I just felt like it, you know? I just felt called to do that and just like pick up the bill and leave the server a really great tip and just I don't know, just give it away, right? Like, just give that money away and do it from a place of love, you know? A place of abundance versus a place of scarcity and thinking I don't have enough, you know? Just kind of that mindset of abundance and giving and yeah, again, that was just, it made me feel so good and I'm probably still feeling good about that and it's been like 2 or 3 days now. So that's another thing I did. And the third thing that I've been doing is actually something I got from my planner. And, you know, my planner this week basically gave me a challenge, and it said, every day this week, write a thank you note to someone. You know, write a thank you note for your gratitude, your appreciation, your whatever. And so I've been taking that to heart. And, you know, I've got a morning routine in it where every morning I write down 5 things I'm grateful for. 4. And that's me trying to express more gratitude and tap into more feelings of being grateful, right? And so when this came up, I said, okay, well, I'll just replace my writing down 5 things to writing someone a thank you note and sending that to them. And, you know, it's just so bizarre. Like, you send that to someone and they don't expect it, and it's just so nice. Like, how often do you get a text like that? Or a call like that, or a voice message like that, where someone's really just truly like seeing you and appreciating you and thanking you for everything that you are and everything that you do, right? Like, not that often. And, um, you know, I did that. I took the time so far every day this week to write that message or send that thank you note or send that voice message, and it's amazing, you know. The response you get back. People are like, "Holy shit!" And they send you back like a really similar thing that you sent them, and they're so thankful and grateful, and they're telling you all the things, like all the reasons that, you know, they appreciate you. And it's just this, this give and take, this reciprocity, right? And it's just been phenomenal for me in the last 7 days. Just these 2 little things, you know, just this shift. From focusing all on me to focusing on others and giving back to others and doing as many things as I possibly can from a place of love. So those are 3 specific things that I did in the past 7 days, and I hope they give you some ideas that you can use to implement this stuff in your own life. That you can use to give more and express more appreciation and more gratitude. Because honestly, when you express more appreciation and gratitude, it's really, really hard for things like fear and worry and doubt and all that stuff to be present at the same time. It's almost impossible to be fearful and be grateful at the same time. Actually, I think it is impossible. And there's crazy amounts of benefits on gratitude. I literally can't stress it enough. So, um, with that being said, please pick something and try it out this week and use this in your own life. And before you go, I just want to give you two quotes to meditate on in the coming week. The first one is from Lao Tzu, and he says, "To the giver comes the fullness of life, and to the taker, just an empty hand." The second is from Rumi, and he says, "Wear gratitude like a cloak, and it will feed every corner of your life." And if this video helped you in any way, You can start giving right now, expressing more gratitude right now by giving this video a thumbs up and subscribing to my YouTube channel. It would seriously mean the world to me. Have a killer week.
